Chapter 124: Miss You So Much
by 李怀沙Chapter 124: Miss You Like Crazy
This time, he was hurt pretty bad, so Meng Shu didn't dare mess around and rested for over a day before returning to Moon Bay.
For him, it was just a groggy nap, but for Ling Qingjue, it was an agonizing month that felt like forever.
Every day, he waited on the small balcony, from dawn to dusk, rain or shine, desperately waiting for the moment the magic array would reactivate.
The Everlasting Flower on the balcony was still blooming brilliantly. Ling Qingjue lay on the rocking chair, sunlight falling on his brows and eyes, looking lazy and relaxed.
He rested his chin on his hand, counting the vine's leaves. "You've gotten chubby lately."
The vine waved its leaves. Of course, Lord Hero gave it a ton of fertilizer, so of course it got fat!
Speaking of which, it's been a while since we saw Lord Hero.
Ling Qingjue could understand what plants said. His heart sank a little. "He'll be back soon."
The vine reached out a leaf to shade him from the sun. Ling Qingjue was already in a bad mood, and having his sunlight blocked pissed him off even more. "What's your deal? Move it."
The vine got all sulky and curled into a ball.
"If he doesn't come back soon, I'll rip time and space apart to find him... But that should violate the laws, and I might be hunted down by the Law Agent."
Ling Qingjue frowned worriedly, absently rubbing the vine's leaves between his fingers.
He suddenly looked up and smiled. "Let's play a game?"
Vine: "?"
"I'll pull off your leaves. If it's odd, I'll go find him; if it's even, I'll wait here."
Vine: "..."
"Do you have to hurt me!"
It curled its leaves together, clearly showing it didn't want to.
The magic array rippled. Ling Qingjue abruptly sat up, light flickering in his dark green eyes. "He's back."
He had just stepped out of the small balcony when he hesitated and withdrew his foot. "I can't go to him; that's not proper."
So Ling Qingjue pulled his foot back and quickly lay down again.
The vine gave him a speechless look.
Ling Qingjue's heart pounded wildly. After waiting a few seconds, he peered anxiously out the glass door. "Why isn't he here yet?"
The vine nudged his back with a leaf, telling him to go find him.
He wasn't having it. "No way..."
When Meng Shu came looking, he saw Ling Qingjue lying on the rocking chair, his fluffy cat tail practically glowing in the sun, just like always.
The youth's features were sharp and handsome, his slightly long black hair half-covering his eyes, looking arrogant and cold.
Of course, Meng Shu had no idea that Ling Qingjue had spent ages perfecting that pose. He bounded over and crashed into the other's arms, his voice brightening. "Kitty! I'm back!"
Ling Qingjue already knew he was coming, but still pretended to be surprised. "Oh? You're back? I didn't even notice."
He cleared his throat. "I was sleeping. I wasn't waiting for you."
Meng Shu pursed his lips, grinning sheepishly, carefully climbing onto the rocking chair and resting his head on Ling Qingjue's arm.
He looked at him with sparkling dark eyes. "I slept for a day this time. When I woke up, so much time had passed. Have you been eating right?"
No. Since you left, I haven't been eating right. I've lost three jin already. And you didn't even notice I lost weight. Plus I've been shedding because I'm not eating enough, and I have to spend time cleaning every day. So you gotta stay with me forever, or I'll starve, lose fur, get depressed, and stop being the prettiest kitten.
Ling Qingjue had a lot of little thoughts, but didn't show them on his face. His eyes were bright and innocent. "Mm."
Meng Shu sighed in relief. "I was too dirty when I just got back, so I went downstairs and took a shower. Unfortunately, that shirt was too wrecked; I don't think it can be fixed."
"I'll buy you new ones," Ling Qingjue said without thinking. "You can use my card."
Meng Shu was skeptical. "Aren't you dirt poor?"
"I can earn money," Ling Qingjue said hesitantly. "From now on, I'll learn to save. Before, I was used to being a cat and didn't know I needed to save. Now that I'm with you, I'll... learn to do things like a human."
Meng Shu stared at his profile without moving—his sharp brow, deep-set eyes, pale lips.
No matter how he looked at him, he thought Ling Qingjue was the prettiest thing ever.
"I heard that if a human guy likes someone, he spends a lot of money on that person and even hands over all his salary..."
Ling Qingjue mumbled vaguely. "It's not because I like you. I'm just doing what I'm supposed to... Since others do it, I'm just copying them."
Meng Shu cracked up, tilting his head up. "So are you going to hand over all your salary to me? How much does the mayor pay you a month?"
"I don't know," Ling Qingjue said. "He never told me."
"Hahaha, are you telling me he's had you working for free for over ten years?"
Ling Qingjue found his laughter annoying. "What are you laughing at, huh? I'm gonna have a ton of money... In the future, you won't have to work so hard anymore. Whatever you want, I can bring it to you."
His ears slowly turned red, but his tail wrapped itself around Meng Shu's wrist. "I'm just imitating others. Don't read into it."
You like me that much?
A weird, almost pitying look flickered in Meng Shu's eyes. Only for a moment. Then he grinned cheekily and threw his arms around Ling Qingjue's neck, leaning in, pressing his lips to Ling Qingjue's.
Ling Qingjue's lips were a bit cool. He lowered his eyes and quickly kissed back.
He pressed a hand on Meng Shu's back, pulling him chest to chest.
I miss you.
Every minute and every second since you left, I miss you.
I'm not good at talking, but I know you get it.
The kiss deepened, his mouth pried open, turning sensual and possessive.
They both silently agreed not to mention the horror of that day, not Ling Qingjue's tears, not Meng Shu's death.
Ling Qingjue thought they still had a long time together.
He didn't need to say "I love you" so soon.
