Chapter 85 You’re Really Good People
by 李怀沙Chapter 85: You Are Truly Good People
The people here were all battle-hardened max-level adventurers; not a single one was weak.
They were all hot-blooded and naturally refused to back down.
"Come on, let's fight. I'd like to see what level your Knight Order's interviewer is at!"
Meng Shu saw that things were going wrong—this was about to turn into a brawl!
You guys fight all you want, I'm not getting involved.
He tiptoed, ready to slip away, but someone shoved him forward.
The man looked fierce and menacing, "What are you running for?! Are you a man or a mouse? If you're a man, join me and overthrow the Knight Order!"
Meng Shu shook his head and smiled apologetically, "I'm no man, no man at all... I'm just passing through..."
While speaking, he sneaked a look at Ling Qingjue.
He was still asleep and hadn't been woken up.
You guys can fight all you want, just don't wake Ling Qingjue—even if the emperor himself showed up, he'd tear this place apart!
But the man wouldn't let him go, grabbing him by the collar, "Cut the crap! I saw you fill out an application form. And that pretty boy next to you? Why isn't he with you?"
Meng Shu wanted to cry. He really didn't want to get involved in this senseless brawl!
The interviewer didn't back down at all. "It'll take me one minute to beat you all, but three hours to interview you."
He spread his hands, "If you want to fight, come at me all at once."
Several max-level adventurers launched their attacks at once, bringing with them a crushing force that made the chandelier in the hall clatter to the ground!
But the interviewer stood like a mountain in the eye of the storm.
Only Meng Shu turned pale with fear.
Oh no, that much noise—Ling Qingjue is gonna wake up!
Seeing him scared out of his wits, a scrawnier adventurer cast a protective barrier and whispered to comfort him, "You look weak, but since you didn't join the fight, they'll leave you alone."
"No..." Meng Shu was on the verge of tears, "It's not me I'm worried about."
You've never owned a cat like Ling Qingjue—you have no idea how terrifying he is!
Disturb his sleep, and he'd wipe out your whole damn family!
Even when surrounded and attacked by multiple people, the interviewer didn't budge. A massive magic circle flared up, sending all his attackers flying!
One of them slammed into the wall right next to Ling Qingjue.
Then Meng Shu saw Ling Qingjue's eyelashes move.
He dropped to his knees, drenched in cold sweat, "It's over... he's really awake..."
The interviewer looked cold and haughty. "Anyone else have a problem? In the Knight Order, strength is everything. I'm clocking out. Any objections?"
"...Excuse me, who threw this person over here?" Ling Qingjue had suddenly appeared in the crowd, dragging an unconscious man behind him.
He tossed the man aside, his expression murderous.
The interviewer glanced at him. "I did. Got a problem with that?"
"A problem?" Ling Qingjue actually laughed. He was beautiful enough, and that smile was dazzling. His voice soft but threatening: "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"
The interviewer didn't understand but couldn't care less. "Move aside. Don't think I won't hit you just because you're good-looking. If you want an interview, come back tomorrow and queue up."
Ling Qingjue tilted his head, his expression almost twisted. He struggled to control the urge to destroy everything, growling, "I promised him I wouldn't cause trouble today..."
As he spoke, terrifying magical waves spread instantly. Even the indestructible walls of the Knight Order's meeting room cracked in several places.
He walked forward slowly and punched the wall.
With a loud crash, the wall broke open into a huge hole.
Ling Qingjue had clearly not fully woken up. He teleported in front of the interviewer in an instant, grabbed the man, and threatened in a low voice, "Since you're an interviewer, do your damn job. Don't put on airs with me. I don't buy into your human crap."
"You—"
An animal transformed into a human!
"Hurry up and do the interview!" Ling Qingjue's face was terrifying. "Do I have to teach you how to interview? One minute per person. If you can't do that, then go die."
"Who the hell are you? Do you even know this is a Knight Order? You—"
"Shut up."
Silence Spell.
The interviewer couldn't speak anymore.
He could only stare wide-eyed, desperately trying to resist.
"I promised someone I wouldn't cause trouble today, so I'll spare your life."
Ling Qingjue released his grip, returned to his lounge chair, closed his eyes, and fell into a peaceful sleep.
Meng Shu couldn't lift his head anymore.
Ruined. Everything was ruined.
It really wasn't that he didn't want to take Ling Qingjue out—it was that Ling Qingjue was like a time bomb, ready to destroy heaven and earth the moment he got upset.
He knew it—once Ling Qingjue made a move, at best walls would come down, at worst the ceiling would be gone.
"Who is that?"
"Never seen him before..."
"Such terrifying magical fluctuations!"
"Is he a noble?"
"No, he's an animal-kin. His body is a cat—I saw his pupils change just now."
"...Maybe we should leave. Being around him doesn't feel like it'll end well..."
The crowd murmured. The once-aggressive adventurers scattered, leaving only Meng Shu staring at the huge hole in the wall, starting to calculate how much he'd have to pay in damages.
The interviewer stumbled to his feet, the Silence Spell already lifted. He brushed the dust off his suit and asked coldly, "Why didn't you run?"
Meng Shu covered his face. "...My cat caused trouble. I'll cover the costs."
"That man sleeping over there—is he your cat?"
"I suppose so." Meng Shu was totally crushed. That wall clearly looked expensive; he was going to go broke again.
Ling Qingjue, you money-wasting cat!
"What's his background?"
Meng Shu put on an innocent face. "Just a harmless little kitten I found in a trash can."
You call that harmless?!
The interviewer sighed, glanced at the damaged wall, and called the patrol team. "Forget it. It's my fault for not being able to beat him. I'll send someone to handle this. You're not liable for this. Come in, I'll conduct your interview."
He couldn't risk making an enemy of this red-haired man. Though he seemed weak, anyone who could tame such a terrifying cat must have extraordinary qualities. The Knights had to recruit him.
Hearing that he didn't have to pay, Meng Shu cried tears of joy. "You're such good people. You're really good people. The best!"
