Chapter 121: I Am Your Father
by 李怀沙Chapter 121: I'm Your Daddy
Meng Shu often wondered, what's the point of living?
In the first half of his life, he struggled with all his might just to survive.
But he lived like a total loser, like a rat in a gutter, criticized for everything he did.
His wishes were small, but heaven never gave a damn.
He was only twenty-eight, dying of a terminal illness, running out of time.
He thought he would die in disgrace, forgotten by everyone, reduced to a handful of dust scattered in the air.
But then he met Ling Qingjue.
Before his death, he embarked on a magical journey—princes and princesses, witches and knights, the kind that only exist in fairy tale books. It sounded so childish and ridiculous that even a kid would go, "Pfft, that's all made up."
But he knew that Moon Bay truly existed in this world.
The mayor was a bald old man, bald because he angered his wife and she pulled his hair out.
The staff at the community center was a girl who loved dressing up, but she was already eighty years old, and her greatest daily joy was gossiping.
The children worshipped the Brave, because they issued quests, and after the Brave completed them, they didn't have to pay any reward. The children had the right to freeload.
The Adventurers' Guild was shabby, barely getting by thanks to a fox that scams money all over the place.
Xu Linzhou was a third-rate writer who wrote terribly. After years of writing, all his manuscripts were trash. His hobby was calling others third-rate. He strutted around because his parents had money, but if someone said, "Your writing is garbage," he'd start bawling right there.
And... Moon Bay had a cat, sharp-tongued and bad-tempered, but silently protecting everyone.
He sewed clothes for Meng Shu, embroidered cat heads, forged the Cat Sword, taught Meng Shu skills, and could even converse with fireflies...
Meng Shu thought, he truly loved this world.
If living had to have meaning, he hoped he could protect this slow-paced little town.
Ling Qingjue was the guardian deity of Moon Bay—how could he turn into the Demon King?
He wouldn't let that happen.
Meng Shu had been killed so many times he'd gone numb from the pain. Mechanically, he lifted his sword, trying over and over to resist the Law's power.
The Law was always entangled by him, unable to break free, and let out a soft sigh: "Why are you doing this to yourself? You don't have much time left anyway. I brought you into this world so you could enjoy your last days."
"If he's gone, I won't be happy." Meng Shu's voice was hoarse, because he had just been slashed across the throat by the Law, and his vocal cords were damaged.
Every word came out with difficulty, blood bubbling in his throat. "I know I can't defeat you, but... you won't get rid of me so easily either."
His sword tip pointed at the Law again.
At the same time, he flipped him off.
"You bastard, come on, keep fighting."
The Law's temples twitched. This Meng Shu was truly an unexpected variable. By all rights, this guy shouldn't even be in this instance.
Given Ling Qingjue's arrogant nature, how the hell did he bring this guy here...
He was merely the first agent of the Law and didn't understand its intent. Why would it place an unkillable Brave into this instance?
He sighed softly, the long sword in his hand radiating a fierce golden light. Countless feathers fell like snow. "How many times can you resurrect? The body in your real world should be on the verge of collapse, shouldn't it?"
Divine Oracle: Judgment Sword.
The sword shadow struck, and Meng Shu had no strength to dodge, facing the light with a calm face.
This strike was too powerful; Meng Shu used a Revive Potion in time, but he was certain that for a moment, his body had disintegrated, all his limbs had gone dead.
If it weren't for the potion Ling Qingjue had brewed, which wasn't restricted by the instance, he would have turned to ashes.
The sword shadow smashed through several stone walls in succession. Meng Shu fell heavily to the ground, coughing blood, and persistently raised his hand to flip the Law off.
He couldn't win, but at least he could gross him out.
"This is the one hundred thirty-second time I've killed you." The Law laughed, its tone unreadable. "And you've flipped me off every single time too. You really don't know when to quit."
"..."
"Are you still waiting for Ling Qingjue to come back and save you?"
Meng Shu was covered in blood, his face unrecognizable, still struggling to stand. "When the cat gets back... he'll trash you... into bits."
"You think you'll last until he comes back?" The Law closed its eyes and finally said with a sigh, "Brave, I respect your courage and grit, but your stupidity? No. Go back now."
"...This is Moon Bay." Meng Shu said something out of nowhere. "In Moon Bay, anything goes..."
"I'm not stupid. I'm just living my own way."
Meng Shu stood up again. He could no longer see anything; the world before him had turned blood-red. Even the Law's voice came in waves, distant and close.
"I'm already dead anyway... I'm not scared of dying, so why would I be scared of you?"
With his last bit of strength, the Cat Sword returned to his hand. "I'll fight you to the very end..."
Before he could finish, the Law's sword was already in his heart.
Its face was cold and merciless. "I have to keep this world running. I respect you, but I can't go easy on you."
The long sword pierced out through his back.
Meng Shu trembled, grabbed the Law's collar, and slammed his forehead into the Law's head.
Bang! Even the Law didn't see that coming.
At the same time, a crack split open the pitch-black sky, and a beam of light fell in.
The magic arrays shattered one by one, the stars reversed, and the Law retreated.
The cat had shattered the formation.
Meng Shu finally let out the breath he'd been holding in, showing a mocking grin, and flipped the Law off.
This time, his middle finger was right in the Law's face.
He almost shoved it up the Law's nostril—pure disrespect.
His voice rough, he said each word slowly and clearly: "Remember this... fuck your mom, I'm your daddy."
With that, Meng Shu's body was about to fall apart. He closed his eyes weakly and fell limply to the ground.
The system issued a warning.
"Current defense has dropped to 0"
"Forced return to original world incoming."
