Chapter 85: The Arrival of the Campus Flower
by 公子于歌Chapter 85: The Arrival of the Campus Flower
They walked past the gymnasium. The road was wide and there were few cars, making the environment quite beautiful. As they approached the gymnasium, a car drove by them and suddenly slowed down. Ning Song looked at the car; the opposite window had a privacy film, so he couldn't see anything inside, only their reflections.
Then the car window rolled down, and Sheng Yan, wearing a baseball cap, leaned out and said, "It looks like you two."
It had been too long since they last met, and Sheng Yan seemed somewhat unfamiliar until he smiled, bringing back a sense of familiarity. He remained as handsome and dazzling as ever.
"Brother Yan?!"
The wind blew Ning Song's hair into a mess. "You're back?"
Sheng Yan nodded and said, "Pu Yu bought an electric scooter too?"
Pu Yu felt that this comment carried a hint of sarcasm, though he wasn't sure if he was overthinking it. It reminded him of a spring night when Sheng Yan had ridden an electric scooter with Ning Song, while he watched silently from his car.
Ning Song replied, "I just bought it."
There were others in the car who curiously watched them. The car didn't stop, making it unsuitable for conversation. Sheng Yan smiled and said, "Let's have dinner together in a couple of days. I'll be off now."
Ning Song nodded and watched as the car gradually drove away, only to suddenly stop ahead.
Soon, a middle-aged man got out of the car, smiling warmly at them.
Both sets of feet touched the ground, and Ning Song peeked from behind Pu Yu, looking at the chubby middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man extended his hand with a business card. Pu Yu took it and glanced at it. The man smiled and said, "I'm Sheng Yan's agent."
Sheng Yan helplessly leaned out the window and said, "He wants to ask if you two want to enter the entertainment industry."
The agent smiled and asked, "You can call me Brother Dong, right? You're Sheng Yan's classmates, aren't you? Do either of you have any interest in entering the entertainment industry?"
Pu Yu handed the card back, "No."
Brother Dong immediately turned to Ning Song, offering him the card. Ning Song shook his head, "Not me either."
"Young people should try new things. If you ever feel like giving it a shot, give me a call."
Seeing that Brother Dong wouldn't take the card back, Ning Song accepted it. Brother Dong looked at him eagerly and said, "You look even better in person than in those videos online."
"Do you know me?" Ning Song smiled.
His smile was truly captivating, and Brother Dong's eyes sparkled with excitement. "You're Sheng Yan's most famous friend. How could I not know you?"
Pu Yu glanced at Sheng Yan, who was leaning out the window, watching Ning Song with a lingering gaze. When their eyes met, Sheng Yan's expression softened, and he smiled, saying, "I told him you wouldn't be interested, but he insisted."
Brother Dong looked at Ning Song with enthusiasm. "With your looks, it would be a shame not to enter the entertainment industry."
Pu Yu realized that Brother Dong was primarily interested in Ning Song, and he was just along for the ride.
Ning Song initially thought Brother Dong was just being polite, but over the next few days, he kept contacting Ning Song through various channels.
On Wednesday, he even came directly to their school.
Sheng Yan was signed with Grand Entertainment. Despite the stubbornness of the Sheng family's patriarch, he eventually relented, fearing that Sheng Yan might sign a contract with a talent show company. He even established a music department specifically for Sheng Yan. Brother Dong, Sheng Yan's agent, originally focused on training trainees and had selected several popular idols for Grand Entertainment. He was particularly enthusiastic about Ning Song, having "fallen in love" with him at first sight.
Pu Yu felt that Sheng Yan had been returning to school more frequently lately.
Every time he came back, he would eat with them.
Sheng Yan had changed noticeably. The entertainment industry had matured him, and now with a professional team, he exuded star quality.
Currently, Upper East Boys' School had two most prominent figures: Ning Song and Sheng Yan. Whenever they ate together, it caused a stir among the students.
Logically, everyone knew that Ning Song and Sheng Yan were dating, but that didn't seem to deter admirers. People still sent Ning Song love letters regularly, and his P.E. classes had become a spectacle. Even Sheng Yan, whom Ning Song once thought was a closed chapter, showed signs of rekindling interest.
Sheng Yan was no longer the innocent boy who could only watch them silently after being rejected.
He had matured significantly, and the entertainment industry had accelerated his growth, making him resemble Shen Lingsi. His demeanor was poised and confident.
He used to avoid Ning Song and Pu Yu, but now, whether he had let go or hidden his feelings deeply, he always greeted them whenever they met at school.
The entertainment industry was glamorous, and Ning Song's beauty was unparalleled. Entering the industry could open up new opportunities. If Ning Song were tempted and joined the same company as Sheng Yan, the future would be uncertain.
Fortunately, Ning Song had no interest in the entertainment industry and was very busy.
Once they entered their senior year, time flew by quickly. Both Ning Song's target university, Ian University, and Pu Yu's, Newru University, were top-ranked schools globally. To get into these prestigious universities, they needed to pass two rounds: the joint exam in June, which determined overall ranking, and individual interviews and written tests in May. They needed to pass both to secure an offer, and typically applied to at least two universities for safety.
From February onwards, they had only about three to four months left, and they also had student council work and the operation of "Black Rose Campus" to manage. On weekends, they were mostly working and taking various exams.
Pu Yu had only felt a slight unease until the annual Spring Festival.
Sheng Yan almost turned this year's Spring Festival into his personal concert.
As the student council president, he was involved throughout, witnessing the adoration and admiration many had for Sheng Yan.
While he was busy in the student council office, his phone suddenly received a news notification. Sheng Yan had posted a new update on Facebook, featuring a pot of jasmine flowers with the caption, "Grown so much."
Ning Song's jasmine plant was bursting with buds, thriving beautifully this year.
The school's radio was playing Sheng Yan's song, and as the sun set, his voice was clear and bright. Pu Yu was drenched in sweat from working in the president's office.
The weather was muggy, and rainstorms were common during this season. The sky darkened quickly, followed by lightning and thunder.
Pu Yu took an umbrella and went to the fourth-floor administrative office. After Ning Song was promoted from assistant to the administrative office, he became responsible for coordinating between the school and the student council. This job was less demanding but highly beneficial. Recently, due to funding issues for the Spring Festival, the student council and the school were at odds, keeping him extremely busy.
"I still have a lot of work!" Ning Song said.
Pu Yu sat down beside him. "Go ahead and work."
Ning Song really admires Pu Yu.
Pu Yu's leadership style is completely different from Shen Lingsi's. From personality to work methods, they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Shen Lingsi is gentle and warm, often working overtime, while Pu Yu is efficient and decisive, never staying late unless it's an emergency. Pu Yu never works overtime in the student council and leaves promptly when his shift ends.
Ning Song can't do that. He likes to finish today's work today, even if there's nothing urgent tomorrow; he doesn't like to push it to the next day.
Pu Yu rarely shows affection towards him in the student council, keeping things professional. Privately, Pu Yu calls him "baby," but in public, he always addresses him as "Officer Ning." Recently, however, Pu Yu has been waiting for him after work every day.
This is quite unusual.
Knowing that Ning Song would be busy for a while, Pu Yu brought a book. While reading, he suddenly heard a knock on the door.
Ning Song looked up and said, "Come in."
Pu Yu saw a very handsome boy enter with some food.
Seeing Pu Yu, the boy was taken aback and blushed, calling out, "President."
Ning Song smiled and asked, "Why are you so wet?"
"The wind was too strong; it blew my umbrella away," the boy replied, his face redder now, looking a bit flustered. He bit his lip and said, "I bought some food; Senior hasn't eaten yet, right? President can join us too."
"I'll be off soon; take it and eat it yourself," Ning Song said.
Pu Yu curled his lips, saying, "Your senior doesn't fancy sweets lately."
The boy left, his face flushed red.
Pu Yu leaned back on the sofa, his posture becoming more relaxed.
Ning Song bit his lip.
"Do you know him?" Ning Song asked, "Which department is he from?"
"Probably from the 'Admirers of Officer Ning' club," Pu Yu said.
Ning Song didn't say anything else.
He felt guilty about this.
He had never seen any admirers of Pu Yu come forward, probably because everyone knew Pu Yu was aloof and indifferent.
When he finished work, the two of them left the office building together. The wind outside was indeed strong, and the boy who had brought him food earlier was still sitting in the lobby. Seeing them, he awkwardly ran to the restroom.
Ning Song said, "I don't even know who that guy is."
Pu Yu nodded, holding his shoulder.
They went to the cafeteria for dinner, and Pu Yu escorted him back to the dormitory.
He could have moved to a new dorm long ago, but he hadn't because Qiao Qiao and the others hadn't wanted to move. Back in the dorm, Ning Song took off his shoes and socks, his pants were wet, so he removed them too. Pu Yu watched him, his round and firm buttocks, his fair and slender legs. Ning Song wore a short-sleeved uniform shirt without an undershirt. He took it off and said, "Read a bit while I take a shower."
Ning Song went to take a shower, and Pu Yu continued reading. After a while, he picked up Ning Song's water cup to refill it in the living room. While refilling, he glanced at the balcony, intending to check on the jasmine plant, but found it gone.
Seeing Ning Song emerge from the shower, Pu Yu asked, "Where's the flower?"
Ning Song said, "...Brother Yan took it."
For Sheng Yan, this jasmine plant held extraordinary significance. It not only carried his youthful memories but also marked the beginning of his music career. For these reasons, Ning Song felt it was best for Sheng Yan to have it, rather than keeping or discarding it himself.
Sheng Yan came to their dorm today, saying he wanted to photograph the plant, so Ning Song let him take it away.
Sheng Yan had feelings for the jasmine plant, and giving it to him was the best choice.
Pu Yu nodded, and they returned to the room. Ning Song suddenly leaned against the door with a smile, tilting his head slightly to look at him.
His body was still damp, emitting a faint minty fragrance.
Last month, Ning Song changed his usual shower gel to the same one Pu Yu used.
Pu Yu thought Ning Song did a great job. Unfortunately, others liked him, and there was nothing he could do about it.
When something smells too good, bees and butterflies will naturally be drawn to it. He couldn't treat Ning Song like a collectible figurine, putting him under a glass case.
His lack of security was his own problem.
Fortunately, Ning Song would turn eighteen soon. When they go to university in the European Federation, things might improve. They would live together, and the federation's law allows marriage at twenty. He wondered how Ning Song felt about getting married young.
He, on the other hand, thought getting married early was great.
He walked over, looking down at Ning Song's flower-like lips. Fresh from the shower, everything about him smelled sweet, and his lips were red and tender.
Ning Song wasn't as lustful recently, which bothered him.
He pulled down the collar of Ning Song's T-shirt, leaned down to smell it, then let go.
"You should rest early; I'm leaving," Pu Yu said.
Ning Song didn't understand what he was doing, but his breath tickled his chest, making it itch.
Just then, Fan Duoduo came out to use the restroom, running out and seeing Pu Yu leave Ning Song's room, saying, "Brother Yu is here."
Pu Yu smiled and nodded, leaving their dorm. Ning Song returned to his room and lifted the collar to his nose, smelling it.
He hadn't fully gotten used to this scent yet, sometimes feeling as if he was smelling Pu Yu.
