Chapter 17: A meeting gift worth billions
byChapter 17: A Welcome Gift Worth Billions
Mu Lan had been trying to conceive for years, but had no success.
The moment she laid eyes on Little Dumpling, she was completely charmed.
She took the little one’s chubby hand in hers, toying with her little fingers, and said with a smile, "Let this be the first welcome present for my future goddaughter."
"I’ll discuss this with Fu Cheng once he wakes up."
Being made a godmother wasn’t something that could be settled with just a few words.
At forty years old, Mu Lan had never encountered a child she felt such an instant connection with. The adoption ceremony had to be grand and memorable.
Mu Lan spoke casually, but her words took Song Qingshan and the others by surprise.
Song Qingshan turned his gaze back to Little Dumpling’s face. Seeing her innocent, beaming smile, he couldn’t help laughing as well.
"Yes, this is no trivial matter."
"Ohhh, let Uncle dote on Zhi Zhi for a bit. In a few days, I’ll send someone to pick her up so she can come play at my place."
"Perfect timing—my little rascal at home could use some discipline. Zhi Zhi, you can help Uncle teach him a lesson."
Zhi Zhi had no idea what was happening.
All she felt was a warm current flowing into her tiny body.
She had been giving away so much Fortune to her father these past two days, leaving her somewhat worn out. But now, this warmth revitalized her.
One hand held Mu Lan’s fingers, the other held onto Song Qingshan’s collar.
Her eyes shone with happiness.
Fu Jingyi and his brothers understood exactly what Mu Lan and Song Qingshan’s gestures meant.
Glancing at the two playing with their sister, Fu Jingyi suppressed his excitement, took a deep breath, and repeatedly expressed his gratitude.
Seeing her brother thank them, Zhi Zhi added in her sweet little voice, "Thank you, Uncle Song, thank you, sister."
Then, stretching her neck, she gave them each a loud kiss on both their cheeks.
Song Qingshan was amused by Little Dumpling's cuteness.
He mimicked her, giving her chubby cheek a big kiss in return.
His stubble tickled her face, making her giggle and squeal, "Brother, save me!"
Song Qingshan laughed heartily, but before he could tease her further, a pair of hands suddenly reached out and scooped Little Dumpling up.
"Uncle Song, you’re no spring chicken. Be careful laughing like that—you might throw your back out."
Mu Lan effortlessly scooped Little Dumpling into her arms.
Unlike Song Qingshan’s fresh pine scent, Mu Lan’s sweet fragrance made Little Dumpling snuggle closer, her eyes half-closed in contentment.
Hearing Mu Lan’s warning, Little Dumpling leaned out and gazed at Song Qingshan with concern. "Uncle Song, take care of yourself, okay?"
This little girl...
Song Qingshan could only laugh.
His grandson hated being held, but Little Dumpling was so well-behaved—he had wanted to hold her longer.
Maybe it was time to urge his son and daughter-in-law to have a little princess of their own.
If the Song family could have a darling like Zhi Zhi, he’d probably smile in his grave someday.
Once Mu Lan had Little Dumpling in her arms, she couldn’t stop touching her.
At forty, she adored children and couldn’t resist fussing over them whenever she encountered one.
Other kids were well-behaved too, but none had ever won her over like Zhi Zhi.
She played with Little Dumpling’s chubby little hand, only looking up once she’d had enough.
"Uncle Song, you didn’t come here today for the same reason as me, did you...?"
"Of course not," Song Qingshan glanced at the stack of equity transfer agreements on the table.
"We elders have benefited from Fu Cheng’s kindness over the years. Now that the Fu Group is in trouble, there’s little we can do to help."
Fu Jingyi added, "Uncle Song came to transfer his shares to me, but..."
Song Qingshan had been sitting in the office for a while now.
Seeing Fu Jingyi’s hesitation, he waved his hand firmly. "Then let’s just transfer the shares to Zhi Zhi."
"Consider it Uncle’s welcome present to her."
This was no small gift.
Shares worth billions, given away just like that.
Song Qingshan turned back, taking Little Dumpling’s other hand. "Zhi Zhi, do you like this gift?"
Zhi Zhi blinked, her eyes wide with confusion.
"Brother?"
Whenever unsure, ask her brothers.
In just a few days, she’d already gotten into the habit.
Fu Jingyi felt warm inside. He patted her head gently and smiled. "It’s Uncle Song’s gift to you, Zhi Zhi. You should accept it."
"In the future, when you have something good, remember to share it with Uncle Song and... Sister Mu."
Sharing was important.
Before coming to the human world, her mother had taught her that.
Nodding seriously, Zhi Zhi looked at them with her big, serious eyes.
Smack!
With a serious expression, she announced, "Zhi Zhi shares her good fortune with Uncle Song."
"And for big sister too!"
Holding Mu Lan's face, Zhi Zhi covered her face in sloppy kisses.
Mu Lan, who usually loves cleanliness the most and doesn't even allow a single wrinkle on her suit shirts, was now laughing joyfully because of what the little dumpling called 'good luck'.
The shareholding issue was finally resolved.
The atmosphere in the office relaxed once again.
It was the little dumpling’s first visit to Fu Corp’s headquarters.
Earlier, before coming upstairs, she had been surrounded by a crowd of reporters, scaring her so badly she didn’t even dare blink.
Now, with no reporters in the office, only her three brothers and her favorite Uncle Song and Sister Mu, the little dumpling let her guard down.
Holding her brother's big hand, she walked up to the remaining shareholders under their warm smiles.
With her brother’s prompting, the little dumpling grinned and introduced herself to the shareholders.
"Hi, uncles! My name is Zhi Zhi, I’m Daddy’s little girl."
Even though it was the second time hearing the little dumpling’s self-introduction, everyone was still completely smitten, their eyes lighting up.
"I could tell she takes after Fu Cheng! Sweetheart, how old are you?"
Zhi Zhi blinked, her eyes crinkling into crescent moons when she smiled.
"Zhi Zhi is three years old, already a big girl now."
Raising her hand and holding up her little hand, Zhi Zhi hadn’t yet learned to count on her fingers, so she just held up all five fingers while claiming to be three.
The older shareholders were delighted, and some of the kinder ones even reached out to teach her how to gesture the number 'three' properly.
The little dumpling looked obedient and learned quickly.
After just one demonstration, she could copy the 'three' sign perfectly.
"Zhi Zhi is amazing! Uncle doesn’t have much to give you, but take this pen. Hope Zhi Zhi studies hard in the future and becomes someone great one day."
One gift led to the next.
In just five short minutes,
Zhi Zhi’s arms were filled with a few pens and watches.
While others might give gifts for auspicious reasons, the Fu Corporation shareholders did so just because they felt like it.
Just seeing Zhi Zhi’s adorable and well-behaved appearance made them want to give her the best things they had.
"Thank you, uncles."
With her earlier experience, Zhi Zhi no longer needed her brother’s guidance and could now chat with the uncles confidently.
Holding the gifts in her arms, she didn’t stop there.
She gave them big, smacking kisses.
As the little dumpling put it, it was her way of sharing good luck.
