Chapter 185: About sleeping with three sons (Part 1)
byChapter 185: Side Story: Sleeping Arrangements with Our Three Sons (Part 1)
"Ah Cheng, where are you taking me?"
The silver-gray sports car tore down the highway.
Qing Zhi clutched the seatbelt, her long hair whipping wildly in the wind from the open window.
The man in the driver's seat, his foot heavy on the accelerator, gripped the steering wheel. His sharp, furrowed brows betrayed his current displeasure.
The car had been speeding for over an hour, countless cameras capturing its violations, ready to dispatch tickets to the owner’s phone by morning.
Fu Cheng paid them no mind.
In the basement, his mind had been flooded with memories that were always his own.
For millennia, since the dawn of time, he had existed—a solitary guardian of the six realms. Yet, during a cultivation session by the sea, he met the one who made his heart race.
The world often claimed fire and water were incompatible. His temper was fiery, and he settled disputes with his fists.
But when he saw Qing Zhi skipping barefoot along the shore, he softened his steps for the first time, fearing he might startle her.
Learning her name and discovering she was no mortal felt like a divine windfall.
Having been alone for so long, he didn't know how to cherish someone. He offered her all the treasures he had amassed over the years. When he saw her eyes sparkle, he nervously asked if she would become his immortal companion.
He still remembered her nodding and saying "yes" to that pile of treasures.
All these years, he knew she loved beautiful things. He thought he had grown accustomed to it...
Opening the car door, he swept her into his arms from the passenger seat. Carrying her, Fu Cheng entered the seaside villa. The moment the lights flickered on, the villa blazed with warmth.
Qing Zhi was still bewildered.
It had been a long time since she had seen the ocean. As the villa lit up, the vast night sea appeared beyond the balcony, merging with the darkness, boundless.
Even so, the sight made her excitedly kick her small feet, trying to squirm out of his embrace. "Ah Cheng, it's the sea! Put me down, I want to see it!"
Fu Cheng didn't release her. The more she struggled, the tighter his arms held her.
He carried her to the balcony, where the door was firmly locked—unopenable, keeping out the sea breeze.
Qing Zhi frowned slightly, a hint of pitifulness on her delicate face. "Ah Cheng, I can't open the door."
Fu Cheng set her down, watching her alabaster toes press into the creamy white wool carpet. His throat tightened, and he reached out to grasp her slender wrist.
"A'Zhi, do you remember our first meeting?"
Qing Zhi, who had been about to ask him to open the door, immediately nodded. "Of course! Ah Cheng gave me so many beautiful treasures. They’re still in my spatial pouch."
Qing Zhi cherished beautiful things. She had many spatial pouches, all filled with treasures collected over the years—some from Ah Cheng, others she had found herself.
During the century he spent enduring heavenly tribulations, whenever she missed him, she would take out the treasures he had given her, touching and admiring them.
Hearing her mention those treasures, Fu Cheng’s eyes reddened slightly.
He took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to pull her fiercely into his arms, and said hoarsely, "If one day something happened to me, and the only way to save me was for you to give up all your treasures... would you do it?"
Qing Zhi’s expression froze for a moment before a radiant smile bloomed on her face. "That won't happen! Ah Cheng is so powerful, no one could hurt you."
When he heard her say "won't," the redness in his eyes deepened further.
His other hand clenched into a fist, veins bulging. "I said *if*. When you weren't by my side, my fortune was almost seized by the '煞' (evil aura). If not for Zhi Zhi, I might have failed this tribulation, and we would never—"
"Then I'd give them!" Qing Zhi cried out, distressed. "I've collected so many treasures—they can have them all! But the ones Ah Cheng gave me... those can't be given away..."
"The Matchmaker said those were Ah Cheng’s betrothal gifts to me. They’re yours to me... I can’t give them away..."
Her voice grew quieter as she spoke, her head bowing to stare at her toes—round and delicate like pearls, so adorable one could hardly resist kissing them.
Seeing her sulk, Fu Cheng softened his tone deliberately. "You love beautiful things the most. Is it worth giving them all up... just for me?"
Back in the realms beyond the six worlds, they had spent every day together.
He knew she adored pretty things—and pretty people.
But he never expected her to become so audacious as to suggest sleeping with their three sons.
For years, all his friends had praised him for his seemingly hot temper but broad-mindedness, claiming he didn’t care when his wife admired other handsome immortals.
Who said he didn’t care?
He cared so much it drove him mad!
That damned Star of Literature, those fox spirits from the demon realm—each more beautiful than the last.
Every time A'Zhi glanced at them twice, he would secretly beat them until they wailed for mercy.
Now that they were finally reunited, the first thing she asked was to sleep with their three sons.
Even if it was just innocently sharing sleeping quarters platonically, he had nearly leveled the entire Fu manor in fury.
He was green-eyed with jealousy, yet afraid of frightening his gentle wife. So he could only broach carefully, voicing the grievance he had harbored for years.
Did his little wife love him more... or beautiful things more?
Hearing his question, Qing Zhi’s face showed surprise. She frowned and lifted her head, only to bubble with laughter when she saw the redness in Fu Cheng’s eyes.
Fu Cheng gritted his teeth in frustration.
Pinching her soft cheek lightly, he grumbled, "What’s so funny? So A'Zhi prefers those treasures over me?"
The slight sting from his pinch only made her laugh harder. "The Queen Mother of the West and the others always said Ah Cheng was big-hearted. When I gazed upon others in the immortal realm, you never seemed jealous."
"I always wondered what jealousy felt like. Who knew Ah Cheng could be so adorable when jealous?"
Given their disparity in stature, Qing Zhi could only wrap her arms around his neck, standing on tiptoe to press a kiss to the corner of his lips.
"The six realms are vast—there will always be more treasures to collect. But every time Ah Cheng returns from a journey, you bring me treasures, watching me dote on them. Were you jealous then too?"
Fu Cheng’s ears burned at her question.
He turned his face away, refusing to meet her gaze. His warlord's pride couldn’t take having his insecurities laid bare.
Qing Zhi found his pouting even more endearing.
Rising onto her toes again, she kissed the corner of his lips once more. Seemingly airheaded but secretly clever, she announced cheerily, "Ah Cheng never considered that my joy came from your return. Every time you left, I worried for your safety. Even as the God of War, to me, you’re just the partner I long for."
"I could never find my way to you. While you were gone, I whiled away the hours with those treasures. So to outsiders, it seemed I loved them more. But in my heart, Ah Cheng, you’re my favorite."
"Others may think me capricious, but you can’t. Of all the treasures you gave me by the shore that day, I loved the bronze mirror above all."
"Because in its reflection, I saw you—standing behind me."
