Chapter 100: Zhi Zhi’s good friends come to say goodbye
byChapter 100: Zhi Zhi's Friends Come to Bid Farewell
The morning sun ascended.
In the spacious hotel room, Fu Cheng's eyes were still closed, his fingers instinctively reaching for his daughter, who had been sleeping beside him.
The little one was a remarkably sound sleeper—she never kicked off her blankets at night nor wandered. She awoke in the same position she fell asleep in.
Every morning, the first thing Fu Cheng did upon waking was not to open his eyes, but to reach for his daughter beside him.
But today, his large hand swept across the bed without finding her, startling him. His eyes flew open, and he shot upright in bed.
“Zhi Zhi!”
“Daddy, Zhi Zhi is here~”
The little one’s sweet voice came from the balcony, muffled by the glass door.
Following the sound, Fu Cheng’s heart, which had just settled, immediately leaped into his throat when he saw his daughter standing on a small chair on the balcony, her tiny body leaning precariously over the railing.
“Zhi Zhi, what are you doing up so high? Come down now!”
Kicking off the blankets, Fu Cheng rushed toward the balcony. But the moment he pulled open the balcony door, the sight before him stopped him dead in his tracks.
The little one turned around, the freshly risen orange sun casting its glow behind her. And in the vast, endless ocean beyond, the water teemed with fish of every hue.
“Daddy, look! It’s Zhi Zhi’s good friends!”
Grinning widely, she turned and pointed toward the horizon. In her little nightgown, she stood on tiptoe, leaning on the balcony railing, the sunlight bathing her as if she were wrapped in a sacred glow.
Fu Cheng’s racing heart slowly calmed.
He walked over to his daughter, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into his embrace. Looking down at the tousled hair on her little head, he couldn’t help but smile.
Peering out to sea, he spotted a familiar hue and chuckled, “Is Brother Whale here?”
Snuggled in her father’s arms, the little one nodded vigorously. “Mhm! Brother Whale came to say goodbye to Zhi Zhi.”
“Are they going home?”
The little one grinned until her eyes disappeared. It was the first time she’d seen so many fish and heard such profound gratitude from her companions.
The fortune she had expended yesterday to suppress the ‘bad thing’ had been replenished, and she now felt an unprecedented abundance of fortune.
Mom had said coming to the human world was a form of cultivation. Before, the little one hadn’t believed it—but now she did.
Since it was still early, only a few people strolled along the beach.
This amazing sight was captured and shared online, sparking quite a stir.
The official Fu Corporation account also posted photos of Fourth Miss enjoying her time in the Maldives.
Many internet users quickly noticed the close timing of the two sets of photos. Given Fourth Miss’s popularity, the hashtag #FourthMissIsAGiftFromHeaven quickly went viral.
Of course, all that came later.
The fish slowly scattered. By the time the sun had fully risen above the horizon, all that remained on the vast ocean was the pink sperm whale the little one had seen from the helicopter that day.
“Daddy! Let’s go there!”
Patting her father’s arm excitedly, the little one wriggled free of his embrace, jumped off the stool, and ran toward the shore.
Fu Cheng quickly scooped her up before she could get far.
Grabbing a robe, he carried her in one arm and hurried downstairs.
The front desk had changed shifts. The new attendant was momentarily stunned when she saw Fu Cheng rushing out of the elevator, looking unusually disheveled.
Confirming she hadn’t mistaken his identity, she hurried over. “Mr. Fu, how can I help you?”
Fu Cheng paused and looked at her before nodding slightly. “Prepare a speedboat for me.”
The attendant blinked in surprise but quickly agreed.
With the previous incident as a lesson, no one dared to give Fu Cheng trouble this time.
The speedboat was soon ready. Fu Cheng, holding his daughter, sped to the shore in a beach buggy, and the two boarded the boat.
Having learned many skills in his younger years, Fu Cheng was grateful to be a capable father who could handle anything.
As the speedboat sprang to life, water sprayed up behind them...
“Daddy, Brother Whale is saying thank you to Zhi Zhi.”
The little one leaned over the edge of the speedboat, her upper body dangerously far out while Fu Cheng held onto her short legs, worried she might tumble into the water.
Around the boat, several huge pink sperm whales circled them.
Dunking her hand into the cool seawater, the little one giggled at the gentle touch of the water.
A sea breeze rippled across the surface.
Now seated back inside the speedboat, the little one pressed her face against the edge, waving reluctantly at the sperm whales.
“Zhi Zhi already has plenty of fortune. Thank you, Brother Whale. Goodbye, Brother Whale...”
No one spoke to the little one.
To an outsider, it might seem like she was just a peculiar child talking to herself.
But Fu Cheng didn’t think so.
If someone was as pure and kind as his daughter, communicating with animals wouldn’t be strange at all.
Watching the sperm whales gradually disappear, the little one finally turned back to her father.
Unlike that day in the helicopter, when her little face had been scrunched up in distress, today she was beaming with happiness.
Helping people made her happy. Helping animals made her happy too.
When Brother Whale offered to share half his cultivation as a thank-you gift, her first instinct was to refuse.
Mom had said you couldn’t get strong overnight—cultivation required steady, step-by-step effort. Only what you earned yourself truly belonged to you.
Even if the other party voluntarily bestows their cultivation, it still doesn't count as one's own.
Another big win today!
The little one patted her belly and looked at her father with a shy expression on her face. "Daddy, I'm hungry."
The sun was already high, and only then did Fu Cheng realize that his daughter hadn't eaten anything in the morning before the two of them hurried to the sea.
Smiling, he pinched his daughter's rosy little cheeks and said, "Hold on, Daddy’s taking you back for food right now."
Fu Yuchen, who had been standing on the beach the whole time, saw his father and younger sister return safely, and his worry finally eased.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Fu Yuchen stepped forward and pulled his sister into his arms.
His face was stormy, practically screaming 'Don’t mess with me.'
The way his second son had been acting lately had almost made Fu Cheng forget his formerly gloomy nature.
Seeing him carry his daughter straight toward the hotel without even wearing shoes, Fu Cheng immediately chased after him.
Along the way, he stepped on sharp rocks and shells on the beach, whimpering in pain the whole way.
"Second brother."
Wrapping her arms around her second brother’s neck, the little one looked worriedly at his face.
She reached out with her small hands, cool from the sea breeze, and touched his face. Frowning, she asked in a tiny voice, "Is second brother angry?"
The moment Fu Yuchen held his sister in his arms, he noticed her body temperature was lower than usual.
His scowl deepened.
But when facing his sister, no matter how upset he was, Fu Yuchen would still patiently answer her questions.
"Yes, second brother is angry."
She tilted her head. "Why?"
Fu Yuchen pursed his lips. "Because Zhi Zhi and Daddy didn’t listen and went running off this morning."
