Chapter 20: The assistants’ rainbow flattery
byChapter 20: The Assistants' Over-the-Top Compliments
"Where's the ghost?! Xiao Wang, where's the ghost?!"
Fu Cheng had always kept to himself even before the incident.
Even the assistants he kept by his side were all male.
Now, a group of men of varying ages piled out of the office.
Before Xiao Wang could dodge, he was shoved aside by his colleagues.
These assistants, usually diligent and regarded as elites in society, now clutched their "weapons," grimacing fiercely, and huddled together, terrified of being singled out and snatched by the ghost.
But there was no ghost at the office door.
Not only was there no ghost—
Standing before them was Young Master Fu, whose aura was strikingly similar to Fu Cheng's, his expression cold and stern.
*Ahem*, "Young Master Fu."
The lead assistant, Fang, quietly put down the small stool he had raised. "Are you heading out?"
Not just Little Dumpling.
Even Fu Jingyi, who had been by Fu Cheng's side the longest, had never seen the assistants like this.
He answered quietly, cradling his little sister in his arms, and whispered, "Assistant Fang, what are you all..."
Fang pursed his lips, about to speak, when a wave of gasps erupted behind him.
"Who’s the little girl sitting on Young Master Fu’s head? She’s absolutely adorable!"
"Whoa, Old Zhang, I didn’t even notice until you said it. Is this Young Master Fu’s daughter? No way, he just turned eighteen."
"Nobody born yet would dare be this bold with Young Master Fu. So whose kid is this? His child 'bride'?"
Once these men’s imaginations got going, they were wilder than women's.
"That's ridiculous! Zhi Zhi is our sister!"
Fu Siyuan and Fu Yuchen arrived just in time.
Hearing this, they immediately jumped in fury and pinched the speaker’s face hard.
So, not a child bride—just a sister.
A sister?!
Fang’s head snapped up. Seeing Little Dumpling’s features, it suddenly struck him why she looked familiar.
Her eyes and brows were a ninety percent match to Fu Cheng’s, as if carved from the same mold.
Instantly dropping the stool, Fang stepped forward and asked softly, "Is she... Fu Cheng’s daughter?"
"Obviously. Who else’s would she be?"
Fu Siyuan was the undisputed king of sarcasm.
He shot Fang a glare, then returned to his sister’s side, lifting his chin proudly. "This is Zhi Zhi, our father’s biological daughter and the little princess of the Fu family. Take a good look, and don’t spout such nonsense in front of her in the future."
Ghosts and child brides—what nonsense!
Zhi Zhi was still so young. If she learned bad things, whose fault would it be?
The assistants were floored by Fu Siyuan’s words.
Especially Fang, who had handled all of Fu Cheng’s affairs, both work and personal, all these years.
In all his time with Fu Cheng, he’d never heard of him showing interest in any woman.
How had a Little Miss suddenly appeared out of nowhere?
Zhi Zhi couldn’t decipher the confused expressions in the assistants’ eyes.
Hearing her third brother introduce her, she copied him, smiling sweetly as she said, "Hello, big brothers! I’m Zhi Zhi, Daddy’s daughter."
Her little voice was like a pebble dropped into the assistants’ hearts, sending ripples through them.
Fang: *Forget about any fake miss—this is the real Fu heiress!*
Most of Fu Cheng’s assistants were unmarried, many too busy to even date.
Usually swamped with work, they had little contact with the outside world.
Now, hearing Little Dumpling’s adorable self-introduction, they were instantly smitten.
"L-Little Miss... hello."
Though they were ruthlessly efficient at work, faced with a tiny girl who barely came up to their thighs, their quick wits struggled to even form a greeting.
Zhi Zhi was still worried about whether that one brother was sick.
After greeting the assistants and beaming at everyone, she turned her gaze back to Xiao Wang.
"Big brother still hasn’t told Zhi Zhi—are you sick?"
Xiao Wang, clutching his "talisman," was overwhelmed by such concern from the Little Miss.
Shaking his head so hard it could’ve flown off, he nearly broke into a set of jumping jacks on the spot to prove his perfect health.
"Thank you for your concern, Little Miss. I’m perfectly healthy, not sick at all."
Hearing this, Little Dumpling finally relaxed.
She reached out her tiny hand toward Xiao Wang, just like when she hugged her Daddy and blew on his wounds. Gently, she blew on the small bruise on Xiao Wang’s forehead.
"Big brother owie, Zhi Zhi blow blow, owie go away," she said.
What kind of little angel was this?!
Xiao Wang’s bruise was from when he'd bumped his head on the desk while picking up a pen that morning.
It had barely hurt to begin with.
Now, after two heavenly puffs from Little Dumpling, not only did the pain vanish—
Right now, he could climb all hundred floors of Fu Corporation, and he wouldn't even be out of breath!
Grabbing the little dumpling's small hand, Xiao Wang was overjoyed as he thanked her, "Thank you, Miss. You're beautiful inside and out. If there's ever anything you need in the future, I'll be there in a heartbeat!"
"Zhi Zhi already has the three of us as her brothers. Who asked you to butt in?"
Fu Siyuan smacked Xiao Wang on the head, said irritably.
Zhi Zhi loved their eldest brother—his gentle temper made it impossible for Fu Siyuan to stop her from clinging to him. But Fu Yuchen also had to get involved and compete for Zhi Zhi's affection, which was already enough of a headache.
And now this Xiao Wang wanted to muscle in on their sibling bond?
Fu Siyuan's face darkened, like he had 'Stay away from my sister!' written on his forehead.
Xiao Wang had been hit several times in a row—all by the same person. He looked up, offended, only to be stunned by the sight before him, forgetting his own indignation.
"Third Young Master, your face..."
The turtle drawing on Fu Siyuan's face still hadn't been washed off. The marker would take at least a few days to fade.
In other words, Fu Siyuan would be stuck with this turtle for at least a week.
His already unpleasant expression grew even darker.
Crossing his arms, Fu Siyuan still looked arrogant as ever, despite the turtle on his face.
"What? This was drawn by Zhi Zhi herself—it's a gift. Got a problem with that?"
Xiao Wang didn't dare complain.
Upon hearing that the turtle on the third young master's face was drawn by the young miss, Xiao Wang didn't hold back his praise.
"Who would've thought the young miss would display such amazing drawing skills at such a tender age? She's a natural!"
Xiao Wang should've kept quiet.
The moment he said it, another smack landed on his head.
Fu Siyuan's expression was downright terrifying.
Meanwhile, Fu Yuchen, standing to the side, was turning red trying not to laugh.
Seeing her third brother hitting someone, Zhi Zhi immediately intervened. "Third Brother, you can't hit this brother."
Hearing his little sister defend an outsider, Fu Siyuan almost had a stroke, almost passing out on the spot.
Withdrawing his hand from teaching Xiao Wang a lesson, Fu Siyuan turned and pinched the little dumpling's cheek instead.
"You little traitor. When outsiders bully your third brother, not only do you not help me, but you even side with them? Hmm?"
Her cheek pinched, Zhi Zhi didn't cry like she usually did.
Instead, she widened her eyes and pulled her third brother behind her.
Her small face stern, Zhi Zhi looked at Xiao Wang very seriously. "Brother, you can't bully Third Brother."
Well, at least she stood up for her brother.
Fu Siyuan stood behind the little dumpling, smiling to himself.
