Chapter 65: Such a good person, why have a mouth
byChapter 65: Why Does Such a Sweet Person Talk Like That?
By the time lunch concluded, the Fu Corporation cafeteria remained bustling, with the crowd seemingly growing.
The little dumpling’s belly was round and full, radiating a sweet aura that clearly said, "Zhi Zhi is full, big brothers, come hug me!"
Her soft, adorable demeanor even made the male employees of Fu Corporation crane their necks for a better look.
"Is Zhi Zhi full?"
Fu Jingyi, having finished feeding his sister, put down his chopsticks. The young man pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and meticulously wiped away the food crumbs from the corners of his sister’s mouth.
The little dumpling was always well-behaved during meals—never picky and never messy.
She sat patiently, waiting to be fed, while also learning to eat independently.
After meals, her little dress and the table were always spotless.
Unusually well-behaved for a three-year-old.
"Mm-hmm! Zhi Zhi is super full. Is big brother full too?"
Sitting in her father’s arms, the little dumpling stretched her neck to peek at the food on her brother’s plate.
Seeing that he had eaten everything cleanly, she immediately gave him a thumbs-up, just as her brothers often praised her.
"Big brother is amazing! No food wasted!"
Mom and her brothers had told her that many children in the world go hungry, so being able to eat was already a very happy thing.
The little dumpling’s generous praise didn’t surprise the three Fu brothers in the least.
Behind them, five or six grown men were squeezed around a table. Upon hearing the little dumpling praise Fu Jingyi, they couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Hearing the commotion behind her, the little dumpling immediately turned her head to look.
"Are big brothers full too? No wasting food, okay?"
The group of men, who had barely touched their food while secretly watching the little dumpling, immediately stifled their laughter and nodded under her admonishment.
It wasn’t that they wanted to laugh; they simply couldn’t hold it in.
The family dynamic of the president’s household was simply too amusing.
In their memory, both the president and young Mr. Fu were always stern and unsmiling.
Yet now, thanks to the little dumpling, both father and son were utterly devoted to their daughter/little sister—it was both adorable and incredibly entertaining.
When Fu Cheng finally set down his chopsticks and looked up to see his three sons staring longingly at the daughter in his arms, his eye twitched slightly.
"Dad, since you and Fu Yuchen have to go to the hospital this afternoon, and big brother has work, why not let me watch Zhi Zhi?"
Fu Siyuan had waited for this day for far too long.
He eagerly stood up and walked over, ready to scoop his sister into his arms.
Finally, it was his turn for some one-on-one time with his sister!
His youngest son’s thoughts were written all over his face.
Fu Cheng saw it clearly. As Fu Siyuan approached, he tightened his hold on his daughter, deftly avoiding his son’s outstretched hand.
"Dad, hurry to the hospital."
Resentment flickered in Fu Siyuan’s eyes.
He only had half a day off; he had to make the most of it playing with his sister.
Holding his little daughter, Fu Cheng said, "Kids need naps after meals. Don’t take Zhi Zhi out to run wild. Not everyone is as hyper as you."
Though he scolded him, Fu Cheng still prepared to hand his daughter over as promised. "Take good care of Zhi Zhi. If she loses even a single hair, I’ll pack you off overseas and won’t let you come back anytime soon."
Fu Siyuan wasn’t bothered by the lecture. He nodded vigorously, his grin stretching ear to ear.
"Zhi Zhi, my little treasure, come to third brother!"
But no sooner had he spoken than the little dumpling turned around, presenting him with her back.
His smile froze. Before he could even feel joy, he watched as the little sister he adored buried herself completely in their father’s arms.
"Where’s Daddy going?"
The bond of blood made the little dumpling cling fiercely to her father.
Hugging him tightly, her voice grew noticeably small. "Is Daddy going home to sleep?"
In the little dumpling’s eyes, her father’s long sleep after the car accident, when he became a vegetable, was due to the loss of his good fortune.
She lifted her head from his chest, her black, obsidian-like eyes fixed intently on him.
"Zhi Zhi will find all the bad things and throw them away. Daddy, please don’t sleep, okay?"
Fu Cheng was torn between laughter and heartache by his daughter’s pitiful expression.
He scooped her up in his arms, gently patting her back.
The man, usually so stern and cold, repeatedly softened his voice in her presence, afraid that speaking too loudly might startle the tiny creature in his arms.
"Daddy isn’t sleeping. Daddy is going to the hospital for some tests. I’ll be back soon."
"Zhi Zhi can have a nap with third brother, and Daddy will be back when you wake up. Will Zhi Zhi wait for Daddy at home, okay?"
Her tiny hands clutched the back of his shirt tightly as she nuzzled against his neck. Even without words, her reluctance to let him go was palpable.
Fu Cheng’s heart melted into a puddle at his daughter’s actions.
But he wouldn't dream of taking her to the hospital, not even to Fu Corporation’s private hospital.
Hospitals were full of germs, and children had low resistance. If she came back from the hospital with so much as a headache or fever, it would break his heart.
Patting her back gently, Fu Cheng lowered his head and whispered, "What if Daddy brings you a toy when I come back? Do you like dolls?"
The little dumpling still didn’t speak.
She raised her tear-filled eyes, staring at her father with a pitiful pout. "Daddy will come back when Zhi Zhi wakes up."
While Daddy was still in a coma, the little dumpling wasn't worried about his safety.
She could sense it—there was nothing bad at home.
But now that Daddy was awake and going out again, Zhi Zhi was worried he might encounter bad things and fall asleep, never to wake up again.
Her tiny feet stepped onto Daddy’s suit pants as the little dumpling hugged his head and planted a big, affectionate kiss on his cheek.
"Zhi Zhi gives all her good luck to Daddy. Daddy won’t get sick and will come back early to be with Zhi Zhi, okay?"
Forget about just finishing the checkup early to come back to his daughter.
If she asked for his life right now, Fu Cheng wouldn’t hesitate for even a second—he’d do everything to fulfill her wish.
The corners of his lips lifted, Fu Cheng nodded with a smile.
"Pinky swear! Break it and you're a dirty dog!"
Fu Cheng extended his pinky, linking it with his daughter’s soft little hand.
Their chosen dining table was by the window, where sunlight streamed in, bathing the father and daughter in light.
Fu Yuchen quietly picked up his phone and captured this moment, then set the photo as his wallpaper.
Looking at the image of his father and sister clinging to each other on his screen, his lips curved slightly, his fingers lingering over their faces.
One of them had given him the best life, the best education, and the best family.
The other had given him the love he'd craved for over a decade.
Lifting his gaze from the screen, Fu Yuchen’s smile froze.
Totally oblivious to the mood, Fu Siyuan chose this very moment—when father and daughter were lost in their tender farewell—to swoop his sister up into his arms, shattering the warmth.
"Come on, Dad, you’re just going for a checkup. No need to make such a big deal out of it!"
"I’ll take good care of Zhi Zhi, don’t worry. You and Fu Yuchen can go without worrying."
Glancing at his watch, Fu Siyuan exclaimed dramatically. "Oh wow, the sun sets in just seven hours. Time’s running out, Dad, you better hurry!"
His tone was unmistakably dismissive—and undeniably punchable.
Fu Cheng’s eyes twitched, his lips pressed tight for a long moment before he finally found his voice. "Fu Siyuan, if you kept quiet, no one would think you're mute!"
