Chapter 060: Confession
by 长亭剑下Chapter 060: Confession
When Qin Ce said ten days, he meant it.
On the tenth day after that, the land Qin Jie had bought had already broken ground, but they unearthed a cemetery, and there were many traps and poisonous substances underneath. If they tried to destroy it by force, it would cause damage to the surrounding area, so it had been cordoned off by the authorities and could no longer be used.
The Qin family was in total chaos.
Qin Jie and his father were also at their wit's end, trying to stabilize the situation, but the situation had changed, and they couldn't get it under control.
When Qin Ce appeared in a suit, surrounded by a crowd, and LJ took over the Qin family, they finally realized that all of this had been Qin Ce's doing.
He had been preparing for this day for a long time.
"Qin Ce!" Qin Jie was so furious his face turned red, and he swung his fist to strike, but was stopped by the bodyguards, like a drowned rat.
Qin's father could only glower at Qin Ce darkly.
"I don't have time to waste talking to you two. Please leave." Qin Ce didn't even bother to spare them a glance, merely shooting them a cold glance.
"Qin Ce, are you really going to drive us into a corner?"
Qin's father stared at his back and suddenly spoke.
"When the old man passed away, he must have told you to take care of me, didn't he? Is this how you keep your promise?"
Qin's father's tone wasn't that of a father making a moral threat; with no other leverage, he could only bring up the deceased Old Master.
Qin Ce fingered the hair tie on his wrist, which Ji Pushu had given him, saying that guys in relationships nowadays all wear one to let others know they are taken.
He raised his hand to signal, and his assistant and bodyguards left the office, gagging Qin Jie and dragging him out.
"You think I would take a dead man's words to heart?" Qin Ce turned back to look at him, a head taller than Qin's father, towering over him with an intimidating presence. With a cold, grim expression, he made Qin's father so frightened he stepped back a few steps, his heart went cold.
"Yes, he's dead, but the secret is still alive."
Qin's father steadied himself and threatened smugly, "I want ten billion. If you don't give it to me, this secret will get out, and then this stain on your reputation, Qin Ce, will be the talk of the town."
"Qin Da, you're so foolish. How could something like this become a stain on me? What a joke." Qin Ce had thought he would say something else, never expecting this.
Seeing his threat fail, Qin's father's face turned ugly.
"Father and son turning into brothers—if this gets out, your reputation will be damaged. Do you think you can still sit firmly in this position?"
As Qin's father said this, his face twisted.
He didn't like his long-dead first wife; she was too rigid and had no charm at all; she wouldn't even take off her clothes in bed.
But no matter how much he disliked her, he couldn't bear to see himself cuckolded, and the cuckold's hat was given to him by his own father!
And to make matters worse, he had to live under his father's thumb. So what if he knew? He had to endure it, and still bear the title of Qin Ce's biological father.
His son was his wife's child and his own half-brother—what a joke.
"Get out." Qin Ce looked at him coldly.
"You're as stiff as that mother of yours! Truly the old bastard's seed—both of you are ruthless!"
When Qin's father brought that up, Qin Ce's expression changed. He moved quickly, grabbing Qin's father by the neck and squeezing so hard that Qin's father almost choked.
"This secret doesn't matter to me; I don't care if others know. But you shouldn't have mentioned her. Qin Da, I hope you die soon and join that old bastard."
Of course, Qin Ce wouldn't dirty his own hands. He let out a cold laugh, released his grip, and Qin's father clutched his throat, gasping for air, looking at him in terror.
"Once you walk out that door, watch your back." Qin Ce took out a handkerchief and calmly wiped his hands clean.
Qin's father didn't dare ask for money anymore; he turned and ran.
This lunatic had really wanted to choke him to death just now!
Qin Ce stood in the office, silent for a long time.
Until his phone rang—it was Ji Pushu calling. When he answered, her bright, pleasant voice came through, always so full of life.
"Brother Ce, what are you doing? You took three seconds longer than usual to answer. Tell me, did you go out and do something to cheat on me?"
"I was busy just now, sorry. Next time I'll definitely pick up right away. Are you done with work? I'll come pick you up from work. What do you want for lunch?"
Holding the phone, Qin Ce turned and left the place.
He left the rest to his assistant to handle.
"I don't know what to eat either. I'm so torn."
"Then just randomly pick a number—one, two, three, four, five—and we'll eat whatever it lands on."
"What if I land on something I don't like?"
"Then just swap it. Rules are meant to be flexible; as long as you're happy, that's what matters."
"Hehe, then let me try..."
.
In the evening, Qin Ce said he would take her out on a date.
Ji Pushu changed into a dress and made herself look beautiful.
She hadn't forgotten that today was the day Qin Ce promised to confess his love; she had been looking forward to it for ten days.
They came to a restaurant on a high floor, where they could look out over the bustling city lights at night.
There was no grand symphony, nor many people present—just the two of them, enjoying an exquisite dinner, occasionally clinking their glasses and sipping red wine.
The atmosphere was very cozy; she had almost forgotten the confession.
"Shushu, are you full?"
"Mm-hmm."
Qin Ce stood up, took her hand, and led her to the terrace, where the view was even more spectacular.
"One more minute," Qin Ce said, glancing at his wristwatch.
He stood beside Ji Pushu with his arm around her waist, and they watched the night together.
Ji Pushu waited expectantly too.
Soon enough.
Up in the sky, many drones appeared.
They formed two figures—a man holding a rose, presenting it to a woman.
Then the man knelt on one knee, and as the woman extended her hand, he slipped a ring onto her finger.
The two stood facing each other, and the man leaned in to gently kiss the woman’s forehead.
The drones dispersed and formed a sentence.
“Qin Ce is honored to have Ji Pushu by his side.”
He was making it clear that this was about the two of them—never a romance that anyone seeing it could imagine themselves in.
The joy he gave her always came with a name attached.
Ji Pushu looked up, a huge smile spreading across her face.
Passersby on the street cheered, holding up their phones to take pictures, envying the sight of true love finally coming together.
“Brother Ce, where did you learn this?” Ji Pushu threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms around Qin Ce’s waist.
“I saw it online. Girls in the comments said they would like it and want it too.” Qin Ce didn’t conceal it. “Is this confession too cliché?”
“Hmm... maybe just a little,” Ji Pushu said teasingly.
Seeing his eyes fall, she quickly added, “But still, as long as it’s arranged by Brother Ce, I love it!”
“Glad you like it.” Qin Ce knew she was just messing with him.
He smiled gently and took out a ring. “Beautiful Ms. Ji Pushu, would you like to be with me?”
“Yes!”
She answered extremely loudly.
Ji Pushu loved Qin Ce.
·
Qin Ce rarely said words like “like” or “love,” but he always showed his feelings through actions.
His love was always like a gentle rain, nourishing without a sound.
Well... except for those occasions when someone was being too much of a handful—then he would bring a storm—lots of thunder and plenty of “exercise” as punishment.
