Chapter 067: Delivered Right to the Door

Gu Pushu still had annual leave. After staying at the hillside estate for seven days, she had to get back to work.

As for Yin Zhu handing over the Yin Group to her, Gu Pushu had looked it over. She didn't yet have the ability to manage such a vast enterprise, but she could take over gradually.

So she agreed to try getting along with Yin Zhu. More than anything else, she truly wanted that mysterious power. Some might be able to refuse it, but she couldn't. She was very loyal to her inner desires.

When her friends learned she was back safely, her girlfriends were still at work; the other two were on business trips. Jiang Feng, who wasn't busy, immediately dropped everything to come and see her.

"Shushu, you're finally back. If you hadn't come back, we would have wanted to storm that big estate again." Jiang Feng took her hand and looked her over. Her complexion was rosy, and she had even gained a little weight—looking better than when she was at home.

Although they had been in contact via messages, and Gu Pushu kept saying she was fine and living well, not seeing her in person meant they couldn't be sure, so they couldn't help worrying.

"It's fine. He treats me well. Honestly, he does whatever I say." Once she gave it a shot, her impression of him improved. Occasionally he was arrogant, with a self-centered, superior attitude, but whenever she pointed out that his words or actions made her uncomfortable, Yin Zhu didn't get angry. Instead, he patiently corrected himself.

That alone completely changed her view. After all, even by her own standards, she was exceptional. She had been the "perfect child everyone compares to" since childhood, so she certainly had pride. Taking orders felt awkward, let alone changing herself just because someone said so.

She didn't want to be too harsh on others either. She herself was imperfect, full of flaws. But being put on a pedestal and cared for—that did make her quite happy.

"That's good, that's good. Mr. Yin looks fierce; we were worried you might suffer." Seeing that Gu Pushu wasn't speaking reluctantly but sincerely, Jiang Feng smiled. Then she noticed Gu Pushu's slightly protruding belly—showing already? That fast? But she was surprised. "Shushu, are you planning to have the baby?"

"Yes." Gu Pushu nodded. "I'll have it. He and I have already discussed it. The wedding might be held after the birth."

She didn't really care about the wedding, but Yin Zhu took it very seriously. He insisted she have everything others had, and better—some weird competitive streak.

But there were still enemies in the shadows, she hadn't had the time yet, and they were still figuring out their feelings. They also hadn't told their families. With so much still going on, it could only be delayed.

"Are you really sure? Not being forced?" Jiang Feng worried she might be pressured. "Shushu, having the baby is your choice, not anyone else's. Your body, your choice. Don't blindly decide based on others' advice. Some things, once done, are a lifetime responsibility."

Gu Pushu smiled. "Don't worry. If this weren't a well-thought-out decision, I'd be scowling with resentment now, irritable and hating everyone. How could I still be so nice?"

    "True." Jiang Feng agreed.

"So you're living apart now? I can see he's really protective of you. He seems domineering and controlling too. I'm quite surprised he agreed to let you come back."

"We're temporarily apart. He wants to pursue me." Gu Pushu occasionally felt helpless about Yin Zhu's insistence on following the steps.

She had figured things out herself and didn't see a problem, but Yin Zhu disagreed. He insisted on going through the entire process. Since they were cultivating feelings, they would start from the pursuit stage.

Jiang Feng's mouth twitched. She reassured her, "Everyone's love story is different. As long as he's truly good to you, that's fine. But you can't just rely on his kindness—that kindness can shift. No matter what, a woman must stay clear-headed in a relationship, so she can escape if she meets a jerk, instead of getting stuck in a mess."

She had met a jerk before, but she only grieved for half a day at most, nothing more. These days, women were like eagles, busy conquering careers. Who'd cry over a man? That's just embarrassing.

"Of course I know that. I won't lose myself. I'm not a love-struck fool." Gu Pushu laughed. "You're a relationship expert today."

"Oh, stop it—it's all for you." Jiang Feng pretended to be angry. "When you have the wedding, I want to be a bridesmaid!"

"Of course. How could I leave you out?"

Gu Pushu and Jiang Feng chatted for a long time. Noticing that Gu Pushu was getting sleepy, Jiang Feng finally left, returning to work.

    That evening.

Gu Pushu slept through the whole afternoon. When she woke up and checked her phone, there were many messages—all from Yin Zhu.

He had taken photos of a wildflower by the roadside and a cluster of wild grapes in the mountains, sending them to her, each followed by a comment, pretending to be profound.

His words were really dense. Had it been that long since he last talked to someone?

Gu Pushu grumbled to herself, but she still read through them and replied. Compared to having nothing to say, she quite liked Yin Zhu's style. He talked a lot, but it wasn't nonsense, and he didn't need her to reply to every message. He just sent them; she could read or not read them. If she said she was busy, he didn't bother her. When bored, he would send her a nudge. Lately, he'd gotten obsessed with playing with his gadgets.

A video call came in. She answered, walking out to find food. In the video, Yin Zhu seemed to be outside, with modern buildings in the background and people walking by.

"What are you doing?" Gu Pushu found some bread to nibble on. She had gone from a big appetite to loving all kinds of snacks.

Yin Zhu had a strange sense of humor. "It's popular to deliver takeout now. I'm working as a delivery guy..."

    "Huh?"

"The food in my hand—it's about to be delivered to your door." Yin Zhu paused deliberately before continuing.

Gu Pushu rolled her eyes. "Are you coming to my place now?" She understood instantly. That joke wasn't funny at all.

"Miss Gu, the takeout you ordered has arrived. Please collect it." Yin Zhu walked to a corner without surveillance, snapped his fingers, and disappeared.

Gu Pushu: "..." He's old but acts like a kid.

She heard a knock at the door. When she opened it, Yin Zhu stood outside, wearing a dark red shirt and trousers, tall and handsome, with an imposing presence—hard to miss.

"Takeout delivered. Please accept it, Miss Gu." Yin Zhu held a bouquet of dark red roses.

"Accepted. Come in, takeout." Gu Pushu laughed helplessly, stepping aside to let him in.

"Where should I put the roses?" Yin Zhu moved as familiarly as if it were his own home. "Got any extra vases?"

"No need. These will just wilt in a few days anyway." Gu Pushu raised potted plants but didn't buy flowers to put in vases. They withered too quickly—too sad to watch them fade. Pothos were an exception.

Yin Zhu explained, "These aren't ordinary flowers. They grow in the darkest, dampest corners. They can be used as medicine, and their scent is good for you. I just went to pick them fresh less than half an hour ago. They grow by absorbing snake venom. Even if you cut the branches, they won't die. When they bloom, the fruit can be eaten. It keeps you looking young and beautiful."

"Really?" Gu Pushu found a vase from the cabinet. "Where am I supposed to get snake venom to nourish them?"

"Isn't it right here? Hiding all day doing nothing—it's perfect for growing flowers." Yin Zhu looked at Xiao Lv, who was rewarded with a bag of chips. Living the good life.

When Xiao Lv heard its name, it poked its head out of the chip bag and then retreated. Now that the lady of the house had its back, it wasn't afraid of the king at all!

"..." Gu Pushu sensed a hint of jealousy in his tone.

"You've come yourself, but where's the takeout? I'm hungry." She had eaten a purple sweet red bean bread but still craved more.

"What's so good about takeout? With me here, you can have whatever you want." Yin Zhu arranged the flowers and went into the kitchen.

"You can cook?" Gu Pushu was very doubtful.

"I couldn't before, but I can now. Don't worry, no problem. Go sit in the living room. Soon you'll have a special dinner cooked by Chef Yin. Don't forget to give a good review."

Yin Zhu rolled up his sleeves and began preparations with professional flair.

But then he picked up two jars, examined them, and asked her which was salt and which was sugar.

    Gu Pushu: "..."

    She really doubted his ability.
