Chapter 071: Scared Senseless
by 长亭剑下Chapter 071: Scared Senseless
Over the next while, the enemy named Yuan Bai didn’t show himself, hiding very well, likely brewing something big.
But Gu Pushu no longer bothered to dwell on this issue. She looked at her belly, which had ballooned in no time, and was speechless.
And because of how unusual this was, she stopped going to the office, worried someone would notice something strange—it would be hard to explain anyway.
“Yin Zhu, what’s going on?” Gu Pushu touched her belly. It wasn’t big, but she could already feel the fetal movements.
Now that she was familiar with these two babies, she had recently been using her divine power quite adeptly. She could even fly down from upstairs—something she never would have dreamed of before.
In her dreams, she would fly, but midway, she would fall, jolting her awake.
Yin Zhu touched her belly and said confidently, “They’re about to be born.”
Gu Pushu: !!!
“Seriously? I’ve only been pregnant for three months, and I’m about to give birth?” Gu Pushu was shocked. She knew she wasn’t carrying ordinary children, but this was too fast. “Even Nezha’s mother, who carried an extraordinary fetus, was pregnant for three years and six months before giving birth. Why is mine so quick?”
She had already steeled herself for a pregnancy that long. When the time came, she would find an excuse to quit work and return to the Yin family estate to recuperate and learn to use divine power. Now, career achievements no longer stirred her competitive spirit; having strong divine power was her real priority.
“The situation is different; you can’t compare them. I’ve been nourishing you both, so it’s faster. But there are cases where pregnancies last a long time. Do you know how long my mother carried me?” Yin Zhu gave a wry smile. His wife loved comparing different versions of myths to him, thinking things should be a certain way. Perhaps in other worlds it was like that, but here, it was different.
The three thousand great worlds and six thousand small worlds all had their own rules.
Gu Pushu got curious. “How long?”
Yin Zhu: “Thirty thousand years.”
“...” Gu Pushu was speechless. “That’s... a timespan I can’t even wrap my head around.”
“Different identities, different environments, different rules.” Yin Zhu stroked Gu Pushu’s belly, sending spiritual energy to soothe the two little ones. “They are very fortunate, born under the protection of Heavenly Fortune, an incredibly rare stroke of luck. In the future, with them as your backing, you can throw your weight around.”
That did sound nice. Usually, people shout, “So-and-so’s my dad,” but for her, she’d be shouting, “I’m so-and-so’s mom,” and throwing her weight around.
“...But what do we do now? I’ve never given birth—no, I’ve never laid an egg.” Gu Pushu was freaked out. Being in the mortal world had let her experience everything. Before this, she would never have believed she’d end up in such a situation.
“Don’t worry. With me here, none of you will be in danger.” Yin Zhu scooped her up in his arms. Gu Pushu instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling much more at ease. What Yin Zhu said was right; he was there to guard them. “Are we going back to the Yin family estate?”
“Mm. It’s not convenient here. I’m worried there might be some commotion when they’re born. Going back allows me to set up defenses.” Yin Zhu’s abilities were naturally very powerful. He stepped into a ring of light, as if crossing a threshold, and in the blink of an eye, they stood in the hall of the Yin family estate.
Zexi wasn’t there; he was handling the group’s affairs and also gathering intelligence to guard against any ambush by Yuan Bai.
“Master.” An elderly person was at home, looking kind and amiable with white hair, though he was a demon of a few hundred years old.
Gu Pushu knew him. He had followed Yin Zhu for hundreds of years and was named Mo Shui.
Well... that was easy to remember.
Yin Zhu hummed in acknowledgment and ordered, “Have food prepared, strengthen security around the area, and prepare two sets of all baby supplies.”
“Yes, I’ll see to it right away, Master.” Mo Shui chuckled happily. They had already started preparing many things at home, but items for the two future young masters could never be too many—he would bring back whatever looked good. “Would the two masters like to eat? The kitchen is ready.”
“Arrange it. I am a bit hungry.” Gu Pushu nodded. She needed to eat more to conserve energy.
She had never given birth, let alone laid eggs, but from what she’d seen in videos, it was very energy-consuming.
·
Gu Pushu felt like she was about to give birth, but nothing happened.
She had been anxious for a few days at home.
She couldn’t sleep at night either. Seeing this, Yin Zhu grabbed a book to read to her to ease her restless mood.
Gu Pushu lay in his arms, dozing off. Yin Zhu’s voice was very pleasant.
But just as she was about to fall asleep, she woke up again, wide awake, staring at Yin Zhu.
“...” Yin Zhu closed the book, set it aside, and turned to embrace her, gently patting her back. “Baby, sleep... sleep...”
Gu Pushu became even more awake. Her gaze fixed on Yin Zhu’s lips as they opened and closed, especially the curve of his lips—her favorite spot when they kissed. She loved playing with it.
“Yin Zhu, I want it, right now, immediately.” She swallowed, her craving for Yin Zhu surging, desperate for his caresses.
“Alright.” Yin Zhu naturally went along with her, stroking her cheek and leaning down to kiss her.
The ambiguous sounds of kissing and heavy breathing echoed in the room. The cool night air heated up as the temperature rose, warming their hearts.
Gu Pushu liked sleeping on her side, and she was too lazy to move.
But Yin Zhu’s technique had improved a lot recently. He had also learned positions that were comfortable for a pregnant woman, and this was one of them—perfect for a pregnant belly.
Pale and bronze-colored legs intertwined. He held Gu Pushu’s thigh with one hand, propped himself up on his other elbow, slightly raising himself so he wouldn’t press on her belly.
Yin Zhu loved putting in effort while kissing her. His crimson eyes watched her, watching her face in the throes of passion, feeling the stickiness of their sweat.
He was deeply fascinated.
“Yin Zhu... that’s enough... enough...”
Yin Zhu felt Gu Pushu’s reaction and didn’t deliberately tease her.
After a moment, they embraced, waiting for their trembling to stop.
Yin Zhu kissed her forehead with affection. Suddenly, he felt a warmth and a slight pain as something coiled around him. A bit surprised, he pulled away to look.
“Yin Zhu, I think I’m about to give birth.” At this moment, Gu Pushu was surprisingly calm.
“Don’t be scared. I’m here.”
Yin Zhu took a deep breath, got up, dressed, cleaned Gu Pushu, then pulled her into his arms, placing his palm against her belly.
“I’m not scared, and it doesn’t hurt. But you—why are you trembling?” Gu Pushu really didn’t feel pain, nor any of the legendary contractions.
But she had a feeling that the babies were about to be born.
“I’m nervous. I’m worried something might happen to you. It’s my first time being a father too.” Yin Zhu didn’t care about pride; he just admitted it.
“As if I’m not a first-time mom too...”
Before she could finish, she suddenly felt a lightness. She looked down to see two very small eggs rolling on the bed, wiggling on their own.
These... these were her babies...
“Yin Zhu, they’re not even as big as you-know-what.” Gu Pushu suddenly had a feeling, looking at Yin Zhu and remarking.
No wonder she barely felt like she’d given birth—she was already used to the size of their father down there.
"..." Yin Zhu blushed, which was rare for him. His wife really knew how to drop bombshells.
The two eggs floated into the air, then cracks appeared, without any dramatic fanfare.
Gu Pushu watched nervously as well.
Then came the faint sound of shells breaking, and a small black snake and a small red snake crawled out. With a soft thud, they landed on Gu Pushu's face, raised their heads, and looked at her.
"Oh my god!" Gu Pushu's eyes rolled back, and without any maternal instinct, she fainted straightaway from the shock.
Yin Zhu's face darkened. With a wave of his hand, they somersaulted in the air and landed on the ground, turning into two toddlers about three years old. Fair and tender, they looked like tiny jade figurines, but their mouths were pouting as if they were about to cry—mommy doesn't love them, mommy hates them, the babies are so sad.
"Shut up!" Yin Zhu immediately scolded. The siblings dared not cry, with tears clinging to the corners of their eyes, about to fall but not falling, so pitiful.
He laid Gu Pushu down on the bed and checked her pulse. There was nothing serious, just a bit of physical and mental exhaustion. These days she seemed fine, but in reality, she had been overly tense.
On top of that, she got scared the first time she met the two little ones and ended up fainting. A good sleep would be enough.
Yin Zhu pulled up the blanket, then held one child in each arm. They frolicked in his embrace, calling "Daddy, daddy," their sweet voices melting his heart.
"Shh, don't disturb your mommy's sleep." Yin Zhu left the room.
The siblings obediently covered their mouths, rested their heads on Yin Zhu's shoulder, and looked pitifully at the sleeping Gu Pushu, feeling wronged, sad, and longing for maternal affection.
Mommy doesn't like them, doesn't hold them...
