Chapter 4
byChapter 4
The chase with the hideous creatures had come to an end.
Those ghastly beings were indeed as ugly and stinky as they seemed.
Fortunately, they had sensed the aura left behind by His Majesty the Dog and fled, allowing Lu Wei to breathe a sigh of relief. He returned to the cabin.
The crew was still outside, replenishing the fuel, so it seemed like it would take some time before they could depart.
Lu Wei decided to entertain himself in the meantime.
The starship was equipped with recreational facilities, which piqued his interest. He wondered how the games here differed from those on Earth.
Grabbing a half-covered chair, he wrapped himself up and immersed himself in gaming.
Games were designed to consume time, and Lu Wei quickly picked up the knack for it, becoming engrossed in the virtual world.
During a brief pause in his gaming session, Lu Wei stretched lazily.
At that moment, the adjutant returned and caught his breath upon seeing him.
"You're very eager to bear an heir for His Majesty."
The adjutant repeated this statement, this time as a fact rather than a question.
Lu Wei: ????
Lord Clear Broth, I'm innocent!
"How did you conclude that??"
The adjutant gave him a quick up-and-down glance, his ears tinged with a faint red. "Your posture, never mind."
Lu Wei kept his upper body still while examining himself downward.
He was lounging diagonally on a half-reclined chair, his legs casually stretched out and propped up on the table, forming an awkward V-shape. It was as unappealing as it could get, depicting a stereotypical disillusioned youth.
The adjutant, unusually hesitant, said, "Although His Majesty doesn't desire children, it seems you do. For your sake, he might be willing to accept them. But you'll have to put in more effort."
Lu Wei: Who are you talking about liking whom and for whom?
Refusing to believe it, Lu Wei searched the web using his current posture, altering a few adjectives until he finally found what he was looking for.
The keyword that triggered an intriguing response was: The most fertile sexual position.
The description matched the position Lu Wei was in right now – the receptive partner elevating their thighs, maintaining an extended stance. It was said that during rut, this position would maximize efficiency, allowing a smoother penetration of certain... parts.
Not only were many expectant couples practicing it, but apparently, this posture also carried a subtle implication of seduction and invitation.
Lu Wei almost threw his wristband across the room.
Damn, how utterly disgraceful!
He couldn't bear to stay on this planet B for another moment.
Reluctantly, Lu Wei kept checking his interstellar wristband, reassured only when he saw that infinitesimal 0.00000001% chance.
On this damned planet, contraceptive medication was not over-the-counter. A special prescription was required to obtain it.
Fortunately, he wasn't interested in reproduction; His Majesty the Canine was genetically incapable of it.
---
Not only did they refuel during this journey, but the crew also took the opportunity to harvest the local specialties of the B star system.
The planet in this B star system was abundant in fruit and vegetable resources. The crew collected a large number of them, stacking them inside the spacecraft's cabin when there was no more room.
Lu Wei found them fresh and intriguing, unable to name these oddly shaped "fruits."
Some tasted like a blend of fruits and bananas, while others had a bitter gourd-like flavor—overall, quite abstract.
He frowned as he tasted each one, "The geomantic energy on this planet must be poor. The creatures are ugly, and the fruits they produce have such a venomous taste."
The executive officer pondered, "Their benefits outweigh their taste."
Indeed, as the saying goes, a bitter medicine cures illness. Just like how he disliked bitter gourds and tomatoes but knew they were good for his health—the rule seemed to hold true across planets.
Lu Wei, fond of dietary supplements, made sure to finish every one of these abstract fruits and vegetables.
The crew returned to find the table empty, and they were somewhat puzzled. "Who finished all the honey fruits? I wanted to save some for my wife."
"How could they be all gone? Did someone move them aside?"
"It does seem excessive if someone ate them all."
Lu Wei's expression turned grave. "What happens if you eat them?"
Suddenly, everyone was staring at him.
However, the crew didn't say anything but instead gave him a look of understanding, as if to say, "Well, it does make sense."
Lu Wei had an ominous feeling. He turned to the adjutant. "You said they have effects. What kind of effects?"
The adjutant gazed at his now-rouge lips, his eyes curious. "Fertility-enhancing effects."
Lu Wei: "Ugh—"
Huh?
Huh?
Blushing fiercely, Lu Wei researched the fruit. It turned out that this "Honey Fruit" had an aphrodisiac effect and was beneficial for stimulating desire when consumed regularly.
This fruit was incredibly popular among those trying to conceive, known as the "Couples' Amorous Fruit." It was a common knowledge on Emperor Star.
Damn, not only did it look sinister, but its effects were wicked too.
Was it still possible for him to claim now that he picked the fruit simply because he was a country bumpkin unaware of its properties, and not to win over His Majesty's favor?
Looking at the adjutant, who returned a perplexed expression, Lu Wei tried to change the subject. "Adjutant, what do you think will be His Majesty's reaction when he sees me?"
The adjutant lowered his eyelids and replied, "He doesn't dislike you."
Lu Wei gave him a strange look. "Adjutant, I think you're living in a dreamland. How would you know what's on His Majesty's mind?"
The aide commented, "You even want to bear his child. He can feel that."
Lu Wei: ...
Moving on to the topic of Zisha.
Lu Wei had nothing more to say to this aide who had misunderstood. He fled the scene as if in retreat to take a shower.
The aide watched his "disgraced retreat" with a hint of amusement.
He was truly bashful; every time the topic of children came up, he would run away.
As the door closed, steam soon filled the room, outlining the silhouette of a male figure.
It reminded the aide of the day when this person had choked back tears beneath him.
The aide's gaze darkened instantly.
After Lu Wei finished his shower, he walked out while toweling his hair dry, wearing his slippers.
"Done washing?"
"Mm-hmm."
As Lu Wei replied, he suddenly realized the peculiar dynamic between him and his adjutant, akin to that of housemates in a romantic relationship.
Wasn't this too intimate?
Unaware of Lu Wei's thoughts, the adjutant was indeed studying him with a gaze that carried considerable weight.
There was definitely something in that look, far from being "innocent" or "pure".
It made Lu Wei feel uneasy, yet strangely familiar at the same time.
Lu Wei: "...Damn."
When did his charm become so irresistible?
Despite the occasional eccentricity, Lu Wei had a favorable impression of his adjutant. Overall, they could communicate effectively.
He didn't wish for the aide to clash with His Majesty the Canine Emperor; it would be best if he could see the error of his ways.
With tactful ambiguity, Lu Wei said, "Aide, I belong to His Majesty." Not quite true, but he chose these words for the aide's sake.
The moment those words left his lips, Lu Wei sensed that the aide's breathing grew even heavier, and the aide regarded him with a pleased expression that seemed to say, "As I thought, you really do have feelings for His Majesty."
"..."
Lu Wei was at a loss as to how the aide's divine train of thought had twisted his words yet again, but he was certain that it wasn't a good sign.
They were originally scheduled to arrive in the Royal City the following day, but due to their navigational error, they now had to spend another night aboard the starship.
That night, Lu Wei had a dream.
Perhaps it was due to the honey fruits he'd consumed, but Lu Wei's dream was surreal. He dreamed that he had given birth to a child who looked incredibly like His Majesty the Canine Emperor, a miniature version of the emperor himself.
The dream left him drenched in sweat.
"Pregnant... No way!"
The aide held his chin in one hand, observing him.
Did he really want a child that badly?
But he didn't particularly like such noisy creatures.
His Highness the Dog's offspring was fluffy and cooing, calling him "daddy" and reaching out for a hug.
Lu Wei had intended to ignore it, but the child's pitiful air of being wronged yet trying to be strong tugged at his heartstrings. He couldn't bear to be hard on the child, so he hesitantly picked it up. The child then bit him.
"Aah!"
Lu Wei jolted awake, meeting a pair of cold, detached eyes rimmed with red veins.
-Thank goodness it was just a dream.
Before Lu Wei could fully sigh in relief, he was startled by the aide sitting beside him.
The aide's expression was not good – paler than usual. His gaze seemed to have lost its deliberate gentleness, taking on a sterner quality.
Awakening in the middle of the night to find someone seated beside the bed is a scenario straight out of a ghost story.
Lu Wei's hair stood on end. "Deputy, what are you doing sitting here?"
The deputy paid no heed to his unease. "I couldn't sleep."
Only then did Lu Wei realize that the bite in his dream was all too real – there was an indentation on his hand.
This lunatic deputy had come to his room in the middle of the night and bitten him.
– What the hell were you thinking?
Lu Wei refrained from voicing this, for the deputy's expression was anything but normal – resembling that of a nocturnal predator.
During the day, the deputy at least appeared relatively normal; now, he was beyond the description of 'troublesome.'
Lu Wei keenly sensed that something had changed about the deputy – his intuition rarely led him astray.
In this situation, it was best to soothe rather than provoke.
Lu Wei could only force a smile and say, "Then count sheep. You'll fall asleep before you know it."
The adjutant's headache was so severe that he lifted his eyelids to look at Lu Wei. "I've tried every method in the Empire."
Lu Wei couldn't hold back anymore. "Then coming to me won't help either."
"You sleep soundly, and I find it irritating."
"…?"
Lu Wei was about to explode.
The lunatics on your planet were truly one more extreme than the other.
Lu Wei suspected that everyone in Royal City had this problem.
He spoke softly, "Then what would make you fall asleep?"
The adjutant replied with conviction, "I don't know."
Honeyfruit possesses an aphrodisiac effect. After consuming a large quantity, Lu Wei exuded his distinctive scent constantly.
Due to the sudden intensification of this person's aura, his own cycle became disrupted.
He had come here tonight specifically to confront the culprit.
Awakened by his adjutant, Lu Wei dozed off again due to sheer exhaustion.
"..."
Then, he was nudged awake in the dead of night.
Lu Wei snapped, "What the hell is wrong with you?"
The adjutant looked at him with an unusual expression.
Lu Wei's temper flared, "If you wake me up again, I'll really give you a good beating!"
After all, Earth Brother wasn't exactly known for being a soft-hearted character.
The adjutant covered his eyes and laughed uncontrollably. "Y-You, say it again."
???
Isn't this a clear case of mental illness!
The adjutant's gaze was like that of an innocent child seeing a novel toy for the first time.
Lu Wei was irritated by this behavior. "What the hell are you laughing at? Is it your first time being scolded?"
The adjutant supported his chin. "Mm, it is my first time."
Lu Wei: ...
Are you crazy?
This person??
