Chapter 65 The Evolution of a Class Flower

The next morning, Ning Song opened his eyes to find a message from Pu Yu.

The message was sent around six in the morning: "Good morning."

Ning Song put down his phone and lay in bed for a while before sitting up: "Aaaaaah."

He shook his head and called out a few times before getting out of bed.

Qiao Qiao had been waking up earlier than him recently. Despite his lazy approach to studying, he was very dedicated to gaming, playing until ten-thirty every night and then getting up at six in the morning to play two more rounds before breakfast. Seeing Ning Song in the living room, he stared at him for a moment.

Ning Song rubbed his hair and asked, "What are you looking at? Are you falling in love with me?"

Qiao Qiao pouted and said, "Really not used to it."

Who would have thought that seeing such a handsome guy walking around in just his underwear early in the morning would feel this way?

Ning Song really did look much better now, and he seemed to be getting more attractive by the day, as if he had some kind of beauty-enhancing software. His skin was like a peeled egg, and he hadn't noticed how fair he was before! Moreover, Ning Song looked taller now. Although his face was beautiful, his behavior was very masculine, making it hard to treat him like a sister.

Ning Song grabbed a bottle of mineral water from the box beside the fridge, holding it by his waist while drinking and turning to look at him, his Adam's apple bobbing. He actually saw a touch of graceful masculinity in him!

After washing up, Ning Song reviewed his notes in the dormitory for a while before leaving with Qiao Qiao.

    It was raining again today.

There was nothing more delightful than a rainstorm during the height of summer.

After eating, they arrived at the classroom and saw Pu Yu already seated.

Ning Song closed his umbrella at the back door, noticing Pu Yu looking over; his heart started racing. Without looking at Pu Yu, he placed the umbrella against the wall and followed Qiao Qiao inside.

With summer vacation approaching, all classes had ended, and they were mainly reviewing their lessons in the classroom to prepare for the final exams on the weekend. Chen Mo handed them each an application form when he arrived.

It was an application form for a summer camp.

Students at Upper East School usually participated in these prestigious university summer camps during their second year. There were nearly a dozen top universities to choose from, covering almost all disciplines—four from the Asian Federation, six from the European Federation, and six from the American Federation.

Ning Song directly filled out the application for Ian University in the European Federation.

He had researched it before; this university had the best game design program globally, producing many industry leaders.

Qiao Qiao said, "You can submit it before the end of term; no need to rush."

Ning Song replied, "I've already decided. Haven't you?"

    Qiao Qiao said, "Not yet."

He was frustrated, "I wanted to choose Qinghai because it's close to home and easier to get into, but Deng Xun said it's too bad! Where is Ian? Maybe I'll go with you."

Ning Song smiled, "Don't think about it; they won't let you go so far."

Qiao Qiao asked, "Is it that far? Then wouldn't we rarely see each other!"

Ning Song said, "Wait another year before feeling sad."

As he spoke, he turned to look at Pu Yu, who was filling out the application form.

He wondered which school Pu Yu would choose.

After class, he went to the restroom and returned to find Pu Yu standing beside his seat, looking at his application form.

Qiao Qiao kept his lips pursed, watching the back door. When he saw Ning Song enter, he made a shocked expression and nodded toward Pu Yu.

Not only Qiao Qiao, but even the other classmates were surprised because everyone knew that these two had been distant lately. They used to be inseparable, but now they were quite estranged.

Ning Song walked through the curious gazes. Pu Yu put down Ning Song's application form when he returned. Ning Song sat down at his seat, and Pu Yu walked away.

Qiao Qiao asked, "What's going on between you two?"

Ning Song didn't know. After all, Pu Yu's love letter yesterday stated that accepting it meant becoming his boyfriend.

Since it wasn't a question, there was no chance to respond. Now, this was the situation, and he wasn't sure if they were officially boyfriends.

During class, he received a message from Pu Yu.

Pu Yu said, "I might not be able to choose Ian University."

"But I plan to apply to New Ru; they're in the same city."

"I just checked, and it takes about an hour by car between the two schools."

    Ning Song: "..."

    What was he doing!

What was Pu Yu thinking when he said those things!

Was he going to let him get away with this? Should he put him in his place?!

Ning Song didn't reply, lying on the desk in a daze. Outside, the drizzle continued. As he lay there, his thoughts drifted to Pu Yu.

He wondered what it would be like if he and Pu Yu attended universities in the same foreign city.

Finally, he picked up his phone and searched the map, checking the locations of New Ru and Ian.

The bell rang, and he went to eat with Qiao Qiao. While eating, Qiao Qiao mentioned the news, "They caught the mastermind behind the explosion in the Underground City."

"Didn't they catch them before?" Ning Song asked.

This incident caused quite a stir, leading to a two-week lockdown in Lower Harbor. During those two weeks, they couldn't even return home because the entry and exit checks were so strict. News reports continued for over half a month until all suspects were apprehended, and two high-ranking officials were removed from their positions. This led to a comprehensive overhaul of the Underground City, including the closure of the boxing ring where Li You used to train.

"Before, the big names that came out were just scapegoats. This time, it was a real earthquake."

Ning Song glanced at the news report and saw Pu Mingke being interviewed about the safety and civilization construction of the Underground City. In the video, Pu Mingke looked energetic and appeared to be around sixty years old, no wonder Liu Fen said he looked young; he didn't seem anywhere near his seventies. He bore a higher resemblance to Pu Yu than Pu Guanting did. Pu Guanting had a cold, masculine face, but both Pu Yu and his grandfather had more delicate features. However, Pu Yu inherited his father's sharp, prominent eyebrows, making him less approachable than Pu Mingke.

I wonder if Pu Yu will look like this when he's older.

He'll still be a handsome old man.

Ning Song had seen many handsome men, such as Sheng Yan, Pu Yu, Li You, Shen Lingsi, and even Jin Yang and Lin Li. Each had their own unique beauty. Strictly speaking, Pu Yu's appearance wasn't particularly refined compared to someone like Sheng Yan, who was a top-tier heartthrob. But Pu Yu had an exceptional aura. Recently, Ning Song realized that his attraction to Pu Yu wasn't just due to the "mackerel" filter, but also because Pu Yu matched his aesthetic preferences.

He always thought Pu Yu was one of the most handsome guys in their school. The first time he saw him in the library, he marveled at how incredibly good-looking he was. He believed that even if Pu Yu aged, he would still be a handsome old man.

He handed the phone back to Qiao Qiao, who nodded towards him. When he turned around, he saw Pu Yu approaching with a tray. This time, he didn't avoid him but kept looking at Pu Yu. Pu Yu sat down beside them and greeted the other boys, who were part of their campaign team.

    Ning Song then turned back.

Qiao Qiao said, "I thought he'd sit over here."

Ning Song gave a slight smile and continued eating.

After finishing lunch, he was supposed to go back to the dormitory for a nap, but Ning Song suddenly told Qiao Qiao, "I'm not resting. I'm going to the classroom."

Qiao Qiao exclaimed, "Are you trying to be the top student in the grade?!"

Ning Song nodded and said, "To knock Pu Yu off his pedestal."

    Qiao Qiao: "..."

He watched Ning Song leave. The rain was pouring heavily, and within seconds, he saw Pu Yu holding an umbrella, following Ning Song.

    Qiao Qiao: "..."

It was hard to tell if they had planned this!

The cafeteria they ate at today was the farthest from their classroom. Ning Song took a shortcut through the maple forest behind the laboratory building. The rain was heavy, but not as loud as his heartbeat. A mix of uncontrollable desire and frustration at losing control made him feel dizzy. He remembered how after Sheng Yan confessed to him, he could decisively distance himself from everyone, including Pu Yu, not just because of his preference, but also because his feelings weren't strong enough to cloud his judgment.

Now, his affection was like summer rain, pouring down on his umbrella, drowning out everything else. As he walked through the maple forest, he didn't head to the classroom but decided to go to the northeast corner of the campus instead. It was a secluded area, far from the teaching buildings and dormitories, rumored to be a lovers' spot at night. This was his first visit.

On a rainy afternoon, there were hardly any people around. He wore only a short-sleeved white shirt without an undershirt, and the wind made his arms break out in goosebumps. His chest tightened from the cold and tension. Two umbrellas gradually merged, and footsteps approached. He turned around and saw Pu Yu staring at him, seemingly aware of his thoughts. Pu Yu's eyes became fierce, and his expression was eerily calm, like a predator ready to pounce.

Suddenly, Ning Song headed back towards the laboratory building. At that moment, Pu Yu reached out and grabbed his wrist.

"What are you following me for?" he asked.

Pu Yu threw away his own umbrella and squeezed under Ning Song's.

A distant boom echoed like thunder, rumbling through the rain. Pu Yu wrapped his arm around Ning Song and, upon feeling his waist, tightened his grip in surprise.

Pu Yu was much taller, so he had to bend slightly. The more Ning Song struggled, the tighter Pu Yu held him, increasing the friction between their chests. The thin shirts and cold weather made Ning Song gasp, and he stopped moving.

His frame was too slender, like a fragile figurine, and he felt suffocated, his heart almost touching Pu Yu's. Their body temperatures rose, warming the damp clothes. Pu Yu said, "Stop moving."

He had already stopped, but Pu Yu didn't notice, perhaps because his mind was blank and his body was trembling. On the ground, he noticed a torn square package of a contraceptive. Pu Yu lifted his head and kissed Ning Song's face forcefully.

    It was terrifying.

At seventeen or eighteen, how could anyone control themselves in such a situation? Both of them had intense reactions.

Pu Yu once thought that emotional love was more elevated, and physical desire was merely an extension, a bonus. But now he realized that emotional likes and dislikes could be disguised, debated, and denied, but physiological attraction was undeniable. Through his physical response, he truly understood Ning Song's feelings for him.

This was like a breach before a dam broke, a sign of collapse that made his heart race, urging him not to wait another year but to let their love rivers converge this summer.

His love wasn't any more noble; he was just an ordinary teenager in love, experiencing intense desire. Accepting this, he could be more aggressive and brave. Love is best seen in the mundane world, and he wanted to be a regular boy in love during his youth.

"I really love you. I dream about you almost every day," he told Ning Song.

The sudden confession made Ning Song's skin prickle with goosebumps.

Pu Yu suddenly took his hand and led him towards a corner behind the laboratory building. Ning Song broke free and ran ahead. Pu Yu was left standing in the rain, and Ning Song shouted, "What are you doing?"

Pu Yu bent down to pick up the umbrella and chased after him.

Ning Song always stayed ten meters ahead, the wind and rain rushing past his ears, giving him an inexplicable joy. He even wanted to make love with Pu Yu right away.

As they approached the teaching building, they started seeing other people. Turning the corner of the laboratory building, Ning Song saw Shen Lingsi and Zhou Lü walking with their umbrellas.

Shen Lingsi was surprised to see him and asked, "Why are you over here?"

As soon as he spoke, Pu Yu appeared in their field of vision.

Ning Song replied, "Just taking a walk around the school."

Pu Yu caught up, panting slightly despite their slow pace. Shen Lingsi couldn't help but smile.

Ning Song asked, "Senior, are you also taking a walk?"

"We're heading to the north gate to catch a ride," Zhou Lü said, studying Ning Song's face. He noticed how red Ning Song's cheeks were, almost shockingly beautiful.

    Ning Song smiled, "Goodbye, Senior."

But Shen Lingsi suddenly grabbed his wrist.

Ning Song was startled, and Shen Lingsi released him. His grip had been so tight that a red mark quickly appeared on Ning Song's wrist. "It's raining, and you're wearing so little. Be careful not to catch a cold," Shen Lingsi said gently, though his face showed no warmth.

Ning Song grunted in acknowledgment, feeling somewhat awkward. He said, "I was just about to head back to the dorm."

He walked toward the dormitory with his umbrella, hearing Zhou Lü talking to Pu Yu, but the rain was too loud for him to make out what they were saying. When he turned back, he saw that Pu Yu had already caught up, but Shen Lingsi and Zhou Lü remained stationary, standing silently in the rain, watching them.

Shen Lingsi almost crushed the handle of his umbrella.

Zhou Lü noticed his white knuckles and said, "They must be having a conversation now?"

    Their expressions were too obvious.

Shen Lingsi's heart ached unbearably. The dark side of him surfaced completely at this moment, thinking that if he could snatch Ning Song away from Pu Yu right now, he would do anything.

    He almost immediately followed them.

Zhou Lü stood rooted to the spot, calling out, "Shen Lingsi!"

Shen Lingsi did not turn back.

Ning Song continued walking onto the square and turned to say, "Don't follow me anymore; go back and change your clothes quickly."

Pu Yu looked at him. His hair was wet, and his clothes were soaked. Ning Song realized belatedly that even though he had an umbrella, he was drenched. He wondered what Shen Lingsi and the others might have thought. His gaze lingered on Pu Yu, whose thin shirt clung to his body, revealing a hint of skin color and the lines of his firm chest and abs, making him want to reach out and touch.

    How terrifying, he was blushing.

"Then I'll be going," Pu Yu said.

He suddenly became very quiet and obedient, as if the forceful hug and the straightforward confession moments ago were not from him. But this was Pu Yu's true nature. He had met all sorts of boys, yet he had fallen for such a quiet one.

Maybe it was a personal preference; he found the quietness incredibly sexy.

If someone talked too much, he preferred to keep them as friends.

He grunted in acknowledgment, and Pu Yu walked toward Dormitory Building One. As he passed under the white ash tree avenue, he looked back and saw Shen Lingsi crossing the square with his umbrella, almost catching up to Ning Song.

Pu Yu stopped and walked toward the square coldly.
