Chapter 3: Who Are You Looking For, Su Su?

Su Youli’s favorite place was the garden at home.

It had just rained, and lots of snails had come out.

They were so soft yet carried such big shells, and their antennae retracted at the slightest touch.

    How fascinating!

Su Youli crouched on the ground, his small hands resting on his knees. When he saw several snails starting to crawl in a row, his little mouth opened slightly in amazement.

    "Wow~"

Su Youli felt like he had made new friends and wanted to show them his toys.

So he knelt on the ground and asked the little snails, "Do you want to see my toys?"

The snails didn’t understand and continued crawling on their own, ignoring him as they crawled past Su Youli’s feet.

Su Youli was a little upset. Although the snails moved slowly,

he could tell that his new friends were ignoring him.

But Su Youli had been taught from a young age to be polite, so he resisted the urge to catch the snails and bring them to his room.

He was so big, and the snails were so small.

His fathers had told him that bullying the weak was wrong.

    ...

Nancheng got a lot of rain in the summer, and Yunshui Town, located in the southeast of Nancheng, was remote. After the rain, the road conditions worsened.

"Second Young Master, when do you plan to return?"

A luxury car crept carefully over the bumpy road. A man in the passenger seat who seemed to be an assistant, cautiously spoke to the young man in the back.

Streaks of rainwater streamed down the car window. The young man squinted and lifted his chin slightly as he looked at the man speaking to him.

The man, caught by his look, immediately turned away to wipe his sweat, not daring to say another word.

This little tyrant had somehow found out that he was coming to Nancheng to look for someone and, without a word, insisted on tagging along with a single phone call.

"Assistant Zhang, my father doesn’t even bother with me, so there’s no need for you to worry," the young man said, stretching his arms. His voice was still a bit hoarse because he was still growing.

Assistant Zhang gave an uneasy smile. It wasn’t that the chairman didn’t care—it was just that those in the Shen family who could keep this little tyrant in check were gone.

Driving in the rain, the fog had grown thick. The driver didn’t dare relax, occasionally complaining about the southern weather, which was muggy, hot, and oppressive.

"How did we end up coming to Nancheng this time?" the young man in the back suddenly asked.

Three years ago, his biological younger brother had been taken right after birth. At that time, he was only thirteen, he was too worried about his mother, who was critically ill after childbirth. By the time he remembered he had a younger brother, the child had already been stolen.

"A few days ago, an email from Hong Kong came with a convincing story, saying there was a child who looked seventy to eighty percent similar to the young master. They even checked the blood type. Chairman Shen thought the boy looked like his wife when he saw the photo and rushed over that very day."

So, he was sent to Nancheng to check it out.

Shen Lin pursed his lips, he scoffed, and turned to look out the window.

Ever since the news of the Shen family’s lost child spread, anyone trying to get close to the family would use it to their advantage. But in the end, it never panned out.

Following the navigation, the car entered a Jiangnan water town. The driver slowed down, driving carefully.

Shen Lin’s gaze caught sight of a father and son walking in the rain. The father wasn’t tall, and afraid his son would get wet, he put his jacket over the boy’s shoulders. The son held an umbrella, doing his best to hold it over his father.

As the pair disappeared from view, Shen Lin’s dark eyes flickered for a moment before he coldly remarked,

"It’s pointless. Every time they say it’s my brother, but for all we know, my brother might be dead long ago."

He then added that Shen Minyan was an idiot for believing whatever people said.

The driver and Assistant Zhang exchanged glances but didn’t say a word.

    ...

Su Youli crouched in the yard, whispering to the dog beside him, "Yuanzi, can I catch a snail? Do you know how to catch one?"

Yuanzi, with its pink nose, bared its teeth at the slowly crawling snail, barking fiercely. The snail immediately retracted its antennae and hid in its shell.

Su Youli got scared and grabbed Yuanzi’s ears with both hands. "No, no! You can’t do that!"

Su Siwen, feeling well today, turned his head when he heard the dog barking.

The little boy was leaning against Yuanzi, who obediently let him ride, careful not to let the little master fall.

Su Siwen laughed softly. "You You, don’t bully Yuanzi."

    Yuanzi: "Woof! Woof!"

"Daddy!" The child ran over happily, kissed his father on the cheek, drank some water obediently, and then ran back out to play. He never had to be told to drink water.

The rain had stopped, and he could hear children playing outside. You You tilted his head, sitting on the steps in the yard with Yuanzi, pricked up his ears as he listened to the noise outside, longing in his eyes.

"Baby, let Yuanzi stay here with me. You can go play with Brother Yang Yang outside."

You You clasped his small hands, glancing at his father and then outside.

Brother Yang Yang was calling him to play. They seemed to be playing "cops and robbers"—it sounded so fun!

As a little one who had just turned three, how could he resist such temptation?

You You stood up and ran to the gate, peeking through a crack. His small feet, clad in handmade cloth shoes, stood on his tiptoes.

So many children were splashing in the puddles!

You You’s soft, pale face showed he was torn. His eyebrows furrowed like caterpillars, his lips pouted, and his cheeks puffed up.

He glanced back. His father was still sitting in his wheelchair, focused on drawing.

Daddy drew to provide for You You. Daddy worked very hard.

    "Daddy, drink some water."

The little one ran back, poured him a cup of water for Su Siwen, and watched until he finished it.

The little one was so considerate.

Since summer began, Su Siwen’s leg had been bothering him more. Qin Kun, before leaving for work every day, would tell the little boy to take good care of his father at home.

The little child looked up and asked, "What does taking care mean?"

Qin Kun pinched his cheek and said, "Taking care means you don't run around outside, and you watch Little Dad eat, drink, and use the bathroom."

Su Youli understood and raised his hand to answer, "Just like how Kun Kun takes care of me!"

Qin Kun was utterly charmed by him. "Yes, just like how Kun Kun takes care of you, that's how you take care of his Little Dad. That's what taking care means."

Wow, other three-year-olds can barely speak clearly, but their precious little one has already learned to take care of his dad.

After giving him water and supervising him going to the bathroom, the little child ran off to the yard to play with Yuanzi again.

"Knock, knock, knock," came the sound of someone at the door.

The Yunshui Street had a simple and honest atmosphere, with harmonious relationships among neighbors. During the day, if someone was home, the door was usually left slightly ajar.

The little snail that Yuanzi had barked at earlier had already climbed onto a leaf, moving slowly but working hard.

"Excuse me, is this Qin Kun's home?"

It was the voice of an unfamiliar man, coming from behind the door.

Yuanzi quickly jumped up and barked a few times toward the gate.

Assistant Zhang took two steps back—there was a vicious dog in this house.

A few light, quick footsteps were heard from inside, and then the door crack widened, revealing a round, adorable, dumpling-shaped face.

"Mister, who are you looking for?"
