Chapter 13 Picking You You Up
byChapter 13: Bringing You You Home
Yang Shiqing saw the Orange family off, expressing his full respect for Orange's wishes as they left: "If Orange no longer wants to learn Taekwondo, I can refund this month's tuition."
"No, no, that's not necessary."
As neighbors, Orange's parents politely but firmly declined the offer.
Orange, already six years old, understood his actions. To avoid attending his extracurricular class, he had gone on a hunger strike for two days.
He had originally planned to faint at home, ensuring only his parents would witness his embarrassment.
However, Taekwondo class was particularly physically demanding, and he simply couldn't hold out any longer. Now, not only had all the children in the gym seen his humiliation, but it also seemed to have inconvenienced Uncle Yang.
Orange nervously fiddled with his fingers, his small feet swinging restlessly, not daring to meet Yang Shiqing's gaze.
Only as Yang Shiqing turned away did he whisper a barely audible "I'm sorry."
The children who remained in the gym were listening to Coach Xiao Lin's safety lesson.
"...You must never joke with your own life just to get your parents to agree to your demands, understand?"
"Understood—" the children chorused.
Yang Shiqing interjected: "Orange's parents agreed to his request because they love him deeply. Those who love you will be heartbroken if you hurt yourself. You must learn to discuss things with your parents..."
Su Youli, happily gnawing on the chicken leg Grandma Yang had given him, didn't fully grasp the conversation but enthusiastically chimed in.
*Orange didn't want to go to school, so his parents forced him. Orange went on a hunger strike, and then his parents agreed not to send him to school anymore.*
Su Youli's little brain whirred, and he reached a conclusion—a hunger strike is really effective!
After finishing the first class of the afternoon, little Su Youli finally reached dismissal time.
He wasn't particularly fond of physically demanding classes like Taekwondo.
By afternoon, his mind began to wander. Their classroom was at the very back, so he couldn't see the main entrance.
Every time Coach Xiao Lin looked at him, he'd see the back of the little one's round head, his eyes fixed on the blank wall—the direction of the gym's entrance.
To be honest, the little one was already performing exceptionally well.
Coach Xiao Lin could clearly sense his dislike for the course, yet the little one still attended diligently, striving for perfection in every move.
Coach Xiao Lin thought to himself, *why isn't this kid mine? He's just too well-behaved and easy to manage.*
"Clap, clap," Coach Xiao Lin clapped his hands to gather the children. "Alright, kids, that's all for today's class. Children whose parents haven't arrived yet, please wait in the classroom. Those whose parents are here can leave now."
Yang Yang held You You's little hand, standing at the entrance, waiting for Yang Shiqing to finish class.
All the children from the toddler class had been picked up by their parents. Coach Xiao Lin nudged Yang Shiqing, pointing towards the main entrance.
Their gaze followed, and they saw Su Youli standing on tiptoes, his face pressed against the glass door, his chubby cheeks squished together.
"When is You You's parent coming to pick him up?" *If he were my son, I'd even attend classes with him.*
Yang Shiqing looked at the little one's expectant back and said, "You You's dad has something to attend to these two days."
"What could be more important than picking up your son after school? He didn't even bring lunch. What kind of dad is that?"
Coach Xiao Lin grew increasingly agitated as he spoke.
Yang Shiqing thought of the extremely luxurious cars he had seen outside the Su family's house yesterday—cars that would never normally appear in their small town—and sighed deeply.
After a full day of classes, the little one, exhausted and nearly asleep, still stood firmly by the door, waiting for his dad.
After what felt like an eternity, familiar footsteps approached.
A tall figure with sharp, handsome features and a smile on his lips.
Su Youli's round eyes instantly lit up. He rushed out and threw himself into Qin Kun's arms. "Daddy!"
Qin Kun caught his son in a warm embrace, lifted him under his armpits, and kissed his cheek. "How was your day, You You?"
The little one thought seriously. He didn't like Taekwondo class, but he liked Coach Xiao Lin a lot, so overall, his day had been pretty good.
"It was good. How was your day, Kun Kun?"
The little one was sent to class today because they had matters to discuss with Shen Minyan.
As the head of the Shen Group, Shen Minyan had already spent a long time in Yunshui Town. His schedule was planned down to the second.
Shen Minyan had proposed taking You You back to the Shen family within the next two days, leaving them very little time to prepare.
"Daddy had a good day too." Qin Kun nuzzled his son's cheek.
A three-year-old couldn't detect the emotions adults could hide. Lulled by his father's familiar voice, he closed his eyes.
The little one had waited for his dad all day and finally fell into a peaceful, deep sleep in his dad's strong, safe arms.
The little one didn't wake up during the entire journey home. Qin Kun carried his son from the car seat and headed home.
The tall man slowed his pace, taking much longer than usual to cover the few dozen meters home.
Qin Kun looked at his son sleeping in his arms. He truly wished the path home could be longer, much longer.
"You're back." Su Siwen wheeled himself out from the kitchen.
The little one was placed on the soft sofa. Su Siwen covered him with a thin blanket that had been folded on the couch, his gaze never leaving him.
"Let's tell You You when he wakes up," Su Siwen said in a low voice.
Qin Kun couldn't bear the thought. "Maybe we should wait until tomorrow. You You is exhausted today."
Su Siwen remained silent but shook his head.
Ever since the little one was old enough to understand, the two of them had long since told him about where he came from.
Su Youli didn't fully grasp what adoption meant. He only knew that his family was different from others—he had two dads.
Both dads loved him deeply, so they were his dads.
Whether they were biologically related didn't matter. Both dads were You You's entire world, the people he loved most.
Su Youli was woken by the aroma of butter cookies.
The little one opened his eyes, pushed himself up from the sofa, and saw his dad sitting beside him, drawing with a paintbrush, and Kun Kun in the kitchen, wearing an apron, taking cookies out of the oven.
"Daddy, it smells so good!"
Su Siwen put down his paintbrush, tilting his head to respond to his son: "Is the baby awake? Are you hungry?"
Su Youli touched his belly—the chicken drumstick he had for lunch seemed to have already been digested: "Hungry, You You's hungry."
"Have some milk first, okay?"
Dinner today was a big meal. You You didn't want to use chopsticks, and surprisingly, his dads didn't object, letting him eat with his hands.
No need to squeeze his fingers into the holes of the training chopsticks, nor master such a difficult skill.
The little one grabbed a spoon, shoveling food into his mouth spoonful by spoonful.
There was even dessert after the meal today! The little one almost leapt from his seat when Qin Kun brought out a little rabbit cake from the fridge!
It's just like the New Year!
