Chapter 75 You You Misses His Second Brother
byChapter 75: You You Misses His Second Brother
Before the candy in his mouth had fully melted, the Little One raised his hand to say goodbye, then climbed back onto his brother's back as they headed toward the village entrance.
Tian Hai stood there watching for a long, long time, until their figures disappeared from sight and the candy in his mouth had completely dissolved.
Back home, life was just as he expected—dull and uneventful.
The Little One's innocent laughter seemed to still echo in the yard. The chickens' and ducks' food troughs were full, the water trough was full, and the ground had been swept clean.
Tian Hai stepped toward the main house and, just as he reached the steps, noticed what Shen Yan had left for him: two new sickles, a brand-new hoe, and beside them, a box of tea leaves.
After the production crew had left, the old man walked slowly, hands behind his back, toward Grandma Zhang’s house.
"Mi Huan told me you can watch it on a phone. He even said we’ll be on TV too!" Grandma Zhang waved a red silk scarf Mi Huan had given her, smiling like a little girl who’d just received a gift.
She found it a bit strange that Tian Hai would come ask her where to watch the show.
Tian Hai’s phone could only make and receive calls; it couldn’t watch videos.
Grandma Zhang patted him, tucking the scarf away. "Mi Huan said when the show airs, he’ll call me and teach me how to watch it. You and Old Bai should come over then and watch with us."
Tian Hai hesitated. He wasn’t the type to join crowds.
Grandma Zhang was about to soak soybeans to make tofu the next day. She was used to his ways. "What’s the point of staying home alone all day? Don’t you want to see what you look like on TV?"
Tian Hai didn’t want to see. He was already with one foot in the grave—what was there to see?
Grandma Zhang went on, "Who’s going to be looking at us anyway? I mainly want to see those Little Ones."
The two elders chatted at the doorway for a while, and in the end, Tian Hai agreed to come to Grandma Zhang’s house to watch the show with them when it aired.
After soaking the soybeans, Grandma Zhang came out and saw Tian Hai walking home alone, hands behind his back. She muttered with a laugh, "That reclusive old man actually came out to visit. The sun must be rising from the west."
In the small village called Nian Bai, most of the residents were elderly. They were in the twilight of their lives, and their days were like stagnant water.
But the arrival of these few children seemed to be bringing change.
-
On the other side, the Little One was carried on his brother’s back all the way out of Nian Bai Village and into a car.
Village life had been a fresh experience for the Little One, and he spent the journey chatting with Shen Yan about the past two days.
The four families left separately. Mi Huan and Mi Le had specifically waited for them to go to the airport together.
They were on the same flight, and their seats were quite close.
Once on the plane, the photographers who had been following them withdrew. As they left, the Little One reluctantly said goodbye.
Especially to the Uncle Photographer who had been following him—the Little One had asked for his help quite a few times over the past three days.
When they parted, he finally learned the photographer’s name. Knowing each other's names made them friends.
Su Youli tugged on the photographer’s pants, looking up to say, "Goodbye, Uncle Da Mo."
Da Mo patted his head and said goodbye in return.
Perhaps because they had been packing and busy since early morning, the Little One got unusually sleepy today.
Shen Yan carried him the whole way. As soon as they boarded the plane, Tang Dou appeared. Seeing the Little One drowsy and about to fall asleep, Tang Dou immediately asked a flight attendant for hot water to fix a bottle of formula.
It had been a long time since the Little One had drunk formula. He closed his eyes, pursed his lips, and began to suckle.
After drinking for a while, the Little One fell sound asleep—even poking his cheek didn’t wake him.
Tang Dou felt his little belly, noticing it was a little full, and only then felt relieved.
Mi Huan was stunned by Tang Dou’s quick thinking. Knowing that children fall asleep quickly when tired, and worried Su Youli might be hungry since he hadn’t eaten lunch, Tang Dou had immediately pulled out formula and a bottle from his bag...
"Impressive," Mi Huan thought, giving a thumbs-up.
With Tang Dou watching the child, Shen Yan couldn’t have been more at ease. He leaned back comfortably in his seat and pulled out his phone to browse.
The past two days in the village had felt like being cut off from the world—he hadn’t even had time to contact his family.
As soon as he took out his phone, Shen Yan received a call from Shen Lin.
The teenager had finished his voice change, and his tone was somewhat deep: "Brother, where’s You You? Let me see You You!"
Shen Yan hung up and video-called him instead, aiming the camera at the sleeping Little One.
Shen Lin watched for a moment, then began to complain: "You You looks thinner. Brother, how have you been taking care of him?"
"Thinner?"
Shen Yan also turned to look closely at Su Youli, unsure. "He hasn’t lost weight, right? Maybe it’s been too long since you’ve seen You You—you might be imagining it."
The two brothers exchanged a few more words before a flight attendant came to remind Shen Yan to turn off his phone.
"Dad and I will pick you up at the airport this afternoon," Shen Lin said before hanging up.
Su Youli’s nap lasted quite a while. By the time he woke up, the plane was almost landing.
After getting off the plane, Shen Yan didn’t let him walk on his own—he still carried the Little One on his back.
Before getting off the plane, Shen Yan had put on a disguise. Even Mi Huan, walking behind them, wore a mask and hat.
But no one had expected that the fans at the airport weren’t there to see them—they were there for the two Little Ones.
Mi Le adjusted well, even cheerfully greeting the fans with "Hello, big brothers, big sisters, aunties, and uncles!"
Su Youli, just waking up, sleepily heard many voices calling his name.
The Little One immediately pricked up his ears, popping a furry head out from his big brother’s shoulder—only to find many phones pointed at him.
Su Youli quickly ducked back, pressing close to Shen Yan.
The Shen family’s bodyguards lined up in two rows, escorting them to the VIP elevator, and blocking the fans outside.
Mi Huan and Mi Le were also startled, quickly thanking Shen Yan.
If it weren’t for the bodyguards, he and Mi Le might have been squeezed to death today.
The elevator descended slowly. Shen Yan was a bit worried that the crowd earlier might have frightened the little one, so he gently patted his back and soothed him softly.
Mi Le held Mi Huan's hand, tilting his head up and making goofy faces to amuse You You.
Su Youli was amused by him and reached out to grab his hand, wanting to play together.
"Wait until the elevator stops to play with brother Le Le," Tang Dou said with a smile.
Su Youli, of course, was very obedient. He waited until the elevator stopped and they reached the underground parking lot before getting off to walk with Le Le.
"You You!"
A young man standing by a car in the distance, his face lit up when he saw his little brother and immediately ran over.
Shen Lin followed closely behind him, taking long strides.
The little one spotted his second brother and hurried over to him: "Second brother!"
Shen Lin finally got to hold his little brother he'd been missing day and night, he could hardly contain his excitement.
The little one giggled as his second brother nuzzled him: "Second brother, that tickles~"
"Did you miss your second brother?"
The little one, hoisted up in his second brother's arms, exclaimed: "Yes! I missed you!"
