Chapter 31 You You Misses Second Brother~

At this moment, Shen Yan's chest swelled with a mix of emotions.

They had missed the most challenging, mischievous age of the little one and ended up with such a well-behaved and sensible younger brother without experiencing the hardships of raising a child.

Shen Yan sighed, at a loss for words.

The sigh was heard by Su Youli, who was in the middle of eating. The little one held a spoon, with bits of egg around his mouth: "Big bwother, what’s wong with you?"

Shen Yan smiled: "Nothing. Also, I’m not ‘Big Bwother’—it’s Big Brother."

"Big Brother!" Su Youli quickly adjusted his pronunciation after being corrected.

After the little one finished eating, a maid came to clear the dishes.

She was a strange auntie he’d never seen. The little one wasn’t nearly as relaxed as he was when he was alone with Shen Yan. His small feet were tense, and he stared intently at the back of the auntie’s head.

In his life, apart from Grandma Yang, there had almost never been any female figures.

The little one felt very uncomfortable and gave a pitiful look at Shen Yan.

Shen Yan picked him up and ruffled his hair. "You You, don’t be afraid. This is Auntie Jiang."

Auntie Jiang stopped upon hearing this and, seeing the young master’s tender and adorable appearance, was quite fond of him. "Young master."

Su Youli clutched Shen Yan’s clothes and greeted softly: "Auntie Jiang, 'hello'."

After the meal, Shen Yan accompanied the little one for a walk around the house and played with his toy car for a while.

The little one kept looking over at the staircase. He parked the toy car there, his short, small hands gripping the steering wheel.

"I miss second brother," the little one said loudly.

Shen Yan playfully booped his nose and fake-pouted: "I’ve been with you for so long. Why don’t you say you miss me?"

Su Youli grinned sheepishly and reached out for a hug.

The clothes Shen Yan was wearing felt particularly novel to the little one. Combined with Shen Yan’s good looks, the appearance-conscious little one wasn’t very shy around him.

"Want second brother," the little one said again in Shen Yan’s arms.

Shen Yan didn’t know whether Shen Lin was done with his homework yet or if his father was personally supervising him.

Thinking about Shen Lin’s abysmal grades, he was sure to get a scolding from his father. He might even be crying while writing, given that his father wasn’t a very patient person.

Shen Yan held the small Su Youli in his arms, truly afraid that if he took him to find Shen Lin, he might witness his father chewing Shen Lin out.

He carried Su Youli back to the living room, put on cartoons to distract him, and simultaneously messaged Shen Lin to ask if he had finished.

Five minutes later, Shen Lin replied.

Shen Yan tucked his phone away and patted the little one’s head: "Let’s go find second brother."

The cartoon was at an exciting part, but the little one didn’t hesitate to climb off the sofa. He ran to the staircase faster than his big brother and started climbing up while holding onto the railing.

Shen Yan watched him waddling up, his little butt in the air.

Is he really that attached to Shen Lin? What did that guy slip into You You’s drink to make him even abandon the cartoons?

Remembering the advice in the "Parenting Manual," Shen Yan didn’t offer help while the little one struggled on his short legs.

The manual stated that Su Youli was a very independent child who liked to use his senses and limbs to experience the world. He should be allowed to walk, run, and jump on his own, and not be interrupted when he was focused on something.

When the little one reached the eighth step, Shen Yan saw his flushed face and felt a little bad for him.

"Want big brother to carry you up?"

Su Youli’s little chest heaved as he shook his head: "Kun Kun says You You has to climb twenty steps every day."

This was a task Kun Kun had set for him, and he had to complete it.

The stairs at the Su home weren’t as high as those in the current villa, so the little one could easily complete the task every day.

But now... Su Youli wiped the sweat from his forehead. These steps seemed a bit big and difficult to climb.

However, Su Youli had been taught by his fathers since childhood not to give up easily.

    Persevere, just a little more.

Finally, Su Youli sat on the twentieth step, his face flushed, smiling happily and revealing his neat, white little teeth.

He looked down—big brother was still below him!

The view from the second-floor landing was pretty nice too.

The three-year-old’s heart was beating fast because he had kept his promise to his dad. Dad Shen’s stairs were big, but You You still climbed them.

"You You’s so amazing!" Shen Yan quickly climbed up and leaned down. "But second brother is doing homework in the study on the third floor. Want me to carry you the rest of the way?"

Su Youli nodded. He was already exhausted, so he reached out for Shen Yan to carry him.

The Shen family villa was very large. By the time Shen Yan carried Su Youli to the third floor, it was already after 9 p.m.

Shen Yan tilted his head to look at the little one in his arms and noticed that the child, who usually had a fixed sleep schedule, was wide awake at his usual bedtime.

Instead, his eyes were shining, and he clasped his hands together, looking like a younger brother excited to play with his older brother.

Probably because he had slept too long in the afternoon. Shen Yan firmly believed that the "Parenting Manual" wouldn’t steer him wrong.

"Knock, knock." With the sound of knocking, the study door quickly opened.

Shen Lin looked completely drained by his homework, a far cry from his usual lively self.

But when he saw Su Youli, he was still very happy. He took the little one into his arms and nuzzled his forehead against his: "You You, did you miss second brother?"

Su Youli nodded vigorously and gave a firm "Uh-huh!"

Shen Lin felt all warm inside and carried Su Youli out of the study.

This awful place—he couldn’t stand staying here for another minute.

Shen Yan glanced at the desk his father had messed up by Shen Lin and felt a headache coming on.

The little one, having found his second brother, completely forgot about his big brother. He leaned happily in second brother’s arms.

Shen Lin was thrilled. In the afternoon, he had said he wanted to sleep with You You, but his brother had pointed out that he probably hadn’t done his homework for days.

Shen Minyan immediately shot him a sharp look, grabbed him by the collar, and dragged him to the third-floor study.

Shen Lin hadn't spent such a long time alone with Shen Minyan in the same space for a while, and doing homework made him feel like he was sitting on pins and needles.

He never liked studying much and only put in a bit more effort during finals; otherwise, Chu Ying wouldn't be happy when he visited her.

Anyway, those three hours cooped up in the study with Shen Minyan were downright miserable for Shen Lin.

How come big brother got to tuck You You in while he was stuck here slaving over homework?

But now, things were better—at least You You still remembered him, right?

His older brother said that the little one had asked where his second brother was as soon as he woke up, asking over and over for three solid hours, even setting aside his favorite cartoons to come find him—that’s the kind of remembering it was.

Shen Lin carried the little one to the room, shoved a toy into his arms, and rolled up his sleeves, ready to start playing together.

"Brother, I want to call Daddy."

The little one’s tiny, milky voice popped the beautiful bubble Shen Lin had been building up in his head.

This wasn't about missing him at all—the kid just missed his phone! Missed getting to call his two dads!
