Chapter 5: Why Won’t You Kiss Me

The side effect of this medicine is that it makes you tired easily, and Xu Moxing soon got sleepy again.

Xu Moxing still wanted to chat with Su Lichen, but his willpower couldn't fight the medication's side effects.

Su Lichen watched him struggle to keep his drooping eyelids open and found it amusing, and bent down to pick him up.

“Alright, don't push yourself. The doctor said you need more sleep to get better faster. Go to sleep.”

“Mm… thank you, A Li, for taking such good care of me. Love you.”

Xu Moxing rested his head on Su Lichen’s shoulder and fell asleep.

Su Lichen carried the man—who seemed to have lost at least thirty jin (about thirty pounds) compared to before they broke up—steadily toward the bedroom where they had shared a bed for four years.

Xu Moxing was already sound asleep, and Su Lichen looked at him, gently ran his slender hand over Xu Moxing's cheek, and couldn't help pressing a light kiss to his forehead.

While Xu Moxing was sleeping, Su Lichen began to meticulously check the house for any signs, adjusting the arrangement of clothes and the placement of daily necessities so Xu Moxing wouldn't notice anything off.

Xu Moxing was a very observant person.

Su Lichen was now reluctant to describe Xu Moxing as “sensitive,” because these days, “sensitive” has a negative ring to it.

But Xu Moxing was indeed very good at detecting hidden malice in others—this was a gift given to him by his innate personality and his upbringing.

In the last six months they were together, Su Lichen had said this about Xu Moxing many times, even criticizing and blaming him.

Su Lichen knew this would hurt Xu Moxing, but by that time, Su Lichen was almost out of patience and couldn't stay calm or gentle with him.

In that period, Su Lichen had even said those things deliberately, many times, to make Xu Moxing feel bad, so Xu Moxing would shut up and leave him alone.

Su Lichen knew that Xu Moxing, being so perceptive, would easily pick up on the malice buried deep in Su Lichen’s heart.

After checking the room, Su Lichen finally started working.

Su Lichen worked in auto parts. His company was in foreign trade and required good communication with clients.

Since it was hard to find people, their base salary was high, and with commissions, Su Lichen's income was quite decent.

But the pressure was also high—he couldn't just leave work at quitting time, and most of the time he had to handle work in the evenings.

Xu Moxing was an auditor. His salary was okay, but he had to travel frequently.

Xu Moxing preferred a more stable job, but he didn't have the courage to change careers, so he'd been stuck in a job that drained him and tormented himself.

Su Lichen knew that this wasn’t his fault.

Because that was just Xu Moxing's personality—no one in his family could back him up, and he could only rely on himself. That's why he always overthought things, always second-guessing and hesitating for ages before deciding.

But sometimes, this personality was also exhausting—not only for himself, but also for the people close to him.

After finishing his work, Su Lichen also went back to the bedroom to sleep.

Over the past few days of taking care of Xu Moxing, he'd been on edge, and he had driven back, so he was indeed quite tired.

When Su Lichen lay down, even in his deep sleep, Xu Moxing could sense the presence of the person beside him. But he couldn't move his legs, so he could only reach out and touch his lover beside him.

Su Lichen naturally took his hand and fell asleep.

When Su Lichen woke up, it was already evening, and the room was pitch dark.

Both he and Xu Moxing were lying on their backs. Xu Moxing actually liked sleeping on his side, but now he couldn't turn over by himself.

Xu Moxing was already awake, playing with Su Lichen’s hand.

    “What's up?”

    “You’re awake?”

    “Mm. Hungry?”

    “Not really hungry.”

Xu Moxing pulled Su Lichen's hand over and kissed it. “I was trying to sleep, but I had a nightmare, and I couldn't stand staying in it, so I forced myself awake.”

    “What was the dream?”

Su Lichen asked casually, having just slept deeply and feeling totally refreshed.

“I dreamed you found me annoying, complained I was bad at everything, and dumped me.”

Hearing this, Su Lichen froze, instantly wide awake. He was silent for two seconds, then said, “Dreams are the opposite of reality.”

That wasn't a lie—since Xu Moxing was the one who broke up with him, it could be considered the opposite.

“But it felt so real—I woke up and realized I was crying.”

    “Don't say that, Mo.”

Su Lichen turned on his side to face Xu Moxing.

Su Lichen had always been proud that no matter what happened, he could always think rationally and stay calm no matter what.

But since they separated, he realized that wasn't true—he'd been overrating himself and painting a pretty picture of himself.

The bedroom was too dark; neither could see the other’s face.

“Then kiss me. Since I lost my memory, you haven't kissed me even once.”

Xu Moxing finally spoke the unease he'd been hiding. At twenty-two, they used to kiss at the drop of a hat.

After seven years together, were they really not even kissing anymore?

Were they that fed up with each other?

Su Lichen was silent for a moment, then suddenly sat up, swung one leg over, and leaned down to look at Xu Moxing beneath him.

    “Sorry.”

It had a double meaning. Su Lichen's apology was because they had broken up, and he shouldn't be kissing Xu Moxing. But whether out of kindness or selfishness, he apologized anyway.

Xu Moxing thought Su Lichen was apologizing for not comforting him sooner.

After apologizing, Su Lichen took Xu Moxing's face in his hands and kissed him.

The quiet room filled with the sound of their kiss and Xu Moxing's soft, involuntary moans.

Xu Moxing was particularly sensitive—and here “sensitive” was a compliment—it meant physically sensitive.

Xu Moxing had lost five years of memory, and his kissing technique had become much more clumsy, but his reactions were still the same.

In fact, even though they had been together for years and had shared countless intimate encounters, whenever Su Lichen kissed him, Xu Moxing still had a strong reaction, just like when they first started dating.

It wasn't that his kissing or bedroom skills were still as clumsy as before—it was that he was still just as fully engaged as ever, always craving Su Lichen's touch.

People often say that after being in a relationship for a long time, touching your partner feels as dull as touching yourself, with no excitement at all. But Xu Moxing, facing Su Lichen, was always passionate and fully devoted.

Su Lichen was starting to lose control. After separating from Xu Moxing, he hadn't been in any relationship either, and he took care of his own needs.

Xu Moxing's hands were raised above his head, fingers interlaced with Su Lichen's, as he was pressed down and kissed.

At that moment, Xu Moxing now had a deeper appreciation that Su Lichen was 27, because the person kissing him was different from the 22-year-old Su Lichen.

Back then, they had progressed together, since they could only practice on each other, but now Su Lichen was clearly several levels above him.

Xu Moxing was struggling to keep up.

    Soon after, "Mmm... ow."

Xu Moxing let out a muffled cry, freed one hand from Su Lichen's grip, and pressed it against his chest, trying to push him away.

    "Ha..."

Su Lichen kissed him a few more times before reluctantly pulling back, his senses returning.

    "Where does it hurt?"

"My foot. I got too excited just now and accidentally bumped it."

"Don't move. I'll turn on the light."

Su Lichen swung his long legs over, got off the bed, and quickly went to the door to turn on the bedroom light.

Xu Moxing lay on the bed, his T-shirt pulled up to his chest by Su Lichen, who had lost control.

His ribs were clearly visible, and his chest rose and fell rapidly as he breathed. Su Lichen first went to check his foot.

It was in a cast, so he couldn't tell much, only asking, "Does it still hurt?"

Xu Moxing pulled his shirt down. "It doesn't hurt now. I must have accidentally pulled it."

"I'll get the wheelchair. Tell me if it hurts."

    "Okay."

Xu Moxing was lifted into the wheelchair and laughed. "Haha, it's good that I've lost weight. Otherwise, it would have been a lot harder for you to carry me now."

"Take this time to recover and build up your strength. I can carry you even if you get a bit heavier."

Su Lichen was 181 cm tall and weighed 150 jin, and he wasn't the burly type—just had a bit of lean muscle.

Xu Moxing was only two centimeters shorter, and when he was discharged from the hospital, he weighed just 110 jin, looking like a scrawny stray.

    "Alright."

Xu Moxing also thought he was too thin—unhealthy and unattractive.
