Chapter 47 [VIP] The Scumbag Rich Second Generation (3)

When He Yanzhou woke up in the morning, his mind was momentarily foggy. Opening his eyes to the familiar ceiling, his thoughts involuntarily drifted back to the awkward scene on the sofa the previous night.

He felt inexplicably frustrated and somewhat embarrassed.

In the end, he didn’t get the kiss, and instead, was mockingly laughed at while she covered his lips. This wasn't like him; since when had He Yanzhou become so awkward?

    How should he put it?

Although he initiated the relationship and had always been the pursuer, he had actually been the dominant one in their romance.

Nanyan had always passively accepted his affections. She had her own boundaries, but due to her gentle and reserved nature, she rarely refused his advances and gestures of affection.

Last night's scenario was an unlikely occurrence.

At this moment, He Yanzhou felt somewhat strange. It seemed he had never truly understood his girlfriend. Beyond her apparent gentle and slow-to-warm-up demeanor, she also possessed other traits.

But dwelling on these thoughts now seemed pointless.

He Yanzhou raised his hand to massage his aching brow, thinking to himself, well, it's just a month anyway.

What could possibly happen in such a short time?

He Yanzhou didn’t believe that he could fall back in love with a girlfriend he no longer had feelings for within a month. Anyway, once the time passed, they would peacefully break up.

This was good; it was rational and clear-headed. There were no endless arguments or clinginess; he preferred this way of breaking up.

With these thoughts, He Yanzhou briskly got out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up, washing repeatedly until he was sure his handsome face was free of any mess, somewhat easing his mind.

He was quite concerned about his image, especially about losing face in front of his girlfriend. That was something he couldn't tolerate.

He Yanzhou casually dressed in a black luxury casual outfit and headed downstairs in slippers, possibly because he woke up too early, he felt a bit hungry.

Usually, as a young master, he would sleep until noon before going to class, but today was an exception.

This was also a point that his girlfriend found hard to accept. In the first month of their relationship, for the sake of romance, he would get up early to have breakfast together. But as time passed, his true nature revealed itself.

Nanyan had initially mentioned it to him, but seeing him stick to his ways, she let it be, not considering it a major issue.

As He Yanzhou descended the stairs, he smelled a fragrant aroma wafting from the living room.

He paused, realizing his girlfriend was having breakfast. He noticed something different about her today.

He Yanzhou observed closely and saw she seemed to have made an effort with her appearance, wearing light makeup and a fluffy braided hairstyle. Her features were even more exquisitely beautiful, and her lips shone with a tender gloss, making her exceptionally pretty.

Nanyan was also surprised to see him, blinking and asking in confusion, “Why are you up so early today? Do you have somewhere to be?”

Her voice was soft and gentle, like a spring breeze, tickling his ears and heart.

He Yanzhou felt an unusual emotion stirring within him and shook his head, “No, just couldn’t sleep and got up.”

Nanyan nodded and smiled, offering him a bowl of millet porridge, “Want some? I made it early in the morning. It's nothing special, but it should fill you up.”

He Yanzhou had been waiting for this invitation and didn’t hesitate to sit down. He was thick-skinned, especially when eating something made by his girlfriend. He felt completely justified, though he had barely started eating when Nanyan got up.

She took her used dishes to the kitchen and on returning said to He Yanzhou, “Ayan, take your time eating. I have a class and need to leave now, or I’ll miss the bus.”

After informing him, Nanyan went to the entrance to change her shoes.

He Yanzhou, engrossed in his meal and enjoying it thoroughly, looked up at her voice, and it was then that he fully noticed her attire.

As she bent down to change her shoes, her silk mermaid skirt, clinging below her waist, outlined her shapely curves with her movements. Her slender waist and long legs, complemented by a beige chiffon blouse, exuded a gentle, refined, yet generous demeanor.

She reached out to steady herself on the shoe cabinet, slightly leaning her body. The braid she had neatly tied fell loosely with her movements, a few stray strands brushing against her cheeks. Her expression was calm and gentle, exquisitely resembling a precious modern painting.

He Yan Zhou was a true connoisseur of beauty, with a fondness for attractive people and things. His gaze towards her used to be one of admiration for a beautiful person, occasionally mixed with desire.

After all, men have their inherent flaws, and he was no exception. Feeling this way towards the opposite sex he fancied wasn't shameful, but today was different, with a subtle feeling stirring in his heart.

Her stepping into those dainty shoes felt like stepping right onto his heart. She struggled to put them on, tickling his heartstrings, igniting an urge in him to help her with her shoes.

Nan Yan, unable to get her shoe on, leaned slightly, lifting one leg delicately, her fingertip hooking the heel of the shoe.

    Her posture was undeniably seductive.

He Yan Zhou bit down hard on the chopstick in his mouth.

The chopstick creaked under the pressure.

His gaze swept over her like laser beams, back and forth. The clothes and shoes were his gifts, reflecting his impeccable taste. She had always found these clothes inconvenient and seldom wore them, but today, for some reason, she chose this outfit.

It looked good indeed... but something about it was slightly unsettling.

It's a common psychology to want to show off a beautiful possession, flaunting your ownership, yet also wanting to hide it away, away from prying eyes.

This was exactly what He Yan Zhou was feeling at the moment.

For some reason, he felt that Nan Yan had changed, becoming gentler and more confident than before, yet also more rational in her dealings with him.

Nan Yan had always been plain-faced around him, but today she was all dressed up. Was she going to meet someone?

The thought made He Yan Zhou grind his teeth involuntarily, losing his appetite for breakfast. He offered abruptly, "Let me take you to school."

Nan Yan slightly raised her eyes, her face expressionless but inwardly smiling. The fish had finally taken the bait.

She deliberately dallied with her shoes, waiting for his offer. Otherwise, commuting on the subway in such attire would indeed be inconvenient.

This feeling of having a pillow delivered as soon as one feels drowsy is really great!

Yet he still managed to look puzzled and said, “Isn’t that unnecessary? Don’t you have no classes this morning? Wouldn’t this delay you?”

As he spoke, He Yanzhou stood up, huffing slightly, “What’s there to delay? Just because I don’t have classes doesn’t mean I can’t go to school. I’m quite busy too, you know. It’s not like I’m always idle.”

    Nanyan: “…”

Does the male lead not feel guilty saying that?

Noticing the disdain and contempt in his girlfriend’s glance, he coughed lightly and quickly went over to take her hand, gently squeezing it as if afraid she would refuse if he was late in doing so, and hurriedly led her to the car.

“Aren’t you going to be late? Let’s go,” He Yanzhou added.

Although there were some issues between them, after all, they had been dating for three months. He Yanzhou didn’t like this distance between them; he was always a gentleman and, after all, taking his girlfriend to school wasn’t a troublesome task.

Nanyan couldn’t help but smile, pinching his palm affectionately and naturally, “I was just worried about delaying you. Alright then, thank you, Ayan.”

He Yanzhou hummed in response, appearing indifferent, but his mood noticeably improved, seemingly quite pleased with her “thank you.”

Nanyan settled into the passenger seat, and the car started soon after.

The two didn’t talk much on the way. He Yanzhou felt somewhat uncomfortable. He wasn’t sure why, but he felt that since they had cleared things up last night, their relationship had become somewhat unclear.

To call them a couple didn’t feel quite right, lacking a certain closeness, as if something was missing; but to label them as friends seemed incorrect too, due to the underlying ambiguity. It was a very subtle dynamic, leaving him feeling unable to grasp yet unable to let go.

Although Nanyan didn’t know his thoughts, she could guess something from his occasional glances.

He might think he’s being discreet, but it’s quite obvious. Almost at every stop, he couldn’t help but look over.

Is this what they call being a ‘slave to beauty’?

So, the original storyline ends with the male lead finally overcoming his fixation on looks and falling for an average-looking female protagonist?

    Indeed, it’s quite unique.

Nanyan certainly wouldn't miss this opportunity; the dog of a man usually wasn't in such a good mood to see her out. She had to take advantage of his current distraction to tease him a bit.

    "Ayan?"

He Yanzhou, having waited a while, finally heard her initiate a conversation and couldn’t help asking, “What is it?”

Nanyan asked him with a smile, “Do I look good today?”

He Yanzhou was momentarily taken aback, unsure why she suddenly asked this. In his memory, his girlfriend was always quite reserved, seldom concerning herself with appearances, possessing an innocent beauty unaware of her charm.

But since she asked, he honestly responded, “Yes, you look good.”

After all, she was the one he had chosen; could his taste be wrong?

Nanyan pursed her lips in a light laugh, then pointed towards the front of the car, “Do I look better, or does the traffic light ahead look better?”

    He Yanzhou: “…”

    So that was her angle.

Nanyan didn’t let up, tilting her head with a feigned troubled look at him, “I know I look good today, but can you focus on driving instead of sneaking glances? Your girlfriend doesn’t want to end up in an accident.”

Even with his thick skin, he couldn’t withstand such blunt words.

Caught in the act of sneaking peeks, He Yanzhou felt a rare sense of embarrassment bubbling up inside.

But then he realized, this was his own girlfriend. Was it really a crime for him to sneak a glance at her?

He had thought so initially, but when he turned and met Nanyan's eyes brimming with laughter, he felt off again, strangely as if something had stirred his heart, leaving him with an elusive feeling.

    ……

After the little incident on the road, He Yanzhou indeed behaved more cautiously. They soon arrived at the entrance of University A, where he parked the car by the roadside.

Just as Nanyan was about to get out of the car, He Yanzhou suddenly said, “Call me when your classes are over tonight. I can come and pick you up.”

Nanyan seemed to remember something, a hint of apology flashing in her eyes, and she shook her head, “I forgot to tell you, there’s a lecture at school tonight that I need to attend. It will probably end after ten, so I won’t be coming back. Can you remember to feed the cat for me?”

He Yanzhou thought for a moment and agreed, then tentatively asked, “How about we go watch a movie tomorrow night?”

Nanyan couldn’t help but laugh, patting his shoulder and kindly reminding him, “Did you forget? A few days ago, when I asked you out for dinner, you told me you had plans with friends this weekend. It wouldn’t be nice to stand them up.”

He Yanzhou suddenly remembered that indeed such a thing had been arranged, feeling a bit sullen. For the first time, he thought his friends had terrible timing, why did they have to choose the weekend? Didn’t they have any sense?

This left him with no time to take his girlfriend to a movie.

He thought for a moment and was about to suggest, “Then let’s plan for…”

But before he could finish, Nanyan interrupted him, her tone tinged with a hint of helplessness, “Ayan, can we talk about this later? I really need to get to class now, I’m running out of time.”

    He Yanzhou was momentarily stunned.

Nanyan leaned in closer, her warm breath slowly and lingeringly brushing across He Yanzhou’s face.

They were very close; the car’s interior was already compact, and with her leaning in, the space seemed even tighter. The subtle fragrance from her body quickly infused He Yanzhou’s senses.

She stared at him for a while.

He Yanzhou was caught off guard, unsure of her intentions. His mind involuntarily drifted back to the events of that night, making him somewhat anxious, so he subconsciously reached to rub his eyes.

Could there be something... No way!

But before he could react, she grasped his wrist. Nanyan burst into laughter first, her smile blossoming like a flower, with delicate sunlight touching her cheeks and her lips radiating charm.

“Be good, Ayan. I’ve been really busy lately with a lot of things to handle at school. I promise to make it up to you next time, okay?”

After saying this, Nanyan leaned in to kiss the corner of his mouth, gently biting it, not too hard, almost like a small animal nibbling. She quickly pulled away after the brief contact.

He Yanzhou couldn’t help but widen his eyes.

    Seemingly frozen in surprise.

He hadn't expected her to kiss him so suddenly.

His throat tightened, and in that moment, he didn’t know what to make of it. His brain seemed unable to process it, his breath halted, and his heart uncontrollably quickened.

By the time he gathered his wits, she had already left the car, not even a glimpse of her to be seen.

Left alone in the car, He Yanzhou’s ears burned. His eyelashes trembled imperceptibly, a hint of annoyance in his grip tightening on the steering wheel.

    What a joke!

What did she mean by ‘be good’? Was she treating him like a pet dog?

Don’t think he doesn’t know. She uses that tone at home to cajole the cats and dogs, sometimes even gentler than this.

    Bah, he's not a dog!

And that perfunctory kiss, without even extending the tongue, what kind of kiss was that? If she has the nerve to bite, she should have the nerve to follow through. Talking about compensation next time, but when will that next time be?

Leaving him in this half-fulfilled state, what does that mean?

He Yanzhou’s cheeks flushed slightly, wondering what was wrong with him. It was just a peck, why such a strong reaction?

    Something isn’t right.

The more he thought about it, the more uncontrollable his heartbeat became. He Yanzhou couldn't resist and licked his lips, tasting sweet and slightly fruity.

So, she was wearing peach-flavored lipstick today.

It was like a small pebble had been tossed into the previously calm lake of his heart, causing ripples to spread. Just as he was itching unbearably...

She suddenly came, lightly scratching as if to tantalize, then ran off, leaving him there not only unsatisfied but feeling even itchier at heart.

He wanted to pull her back and kiss her thoroughly!
