Chapter 74 Shen Que, Strike First
by 良桃Chapter 74 Shen Que, Strike First
"Shen Que, have you heard a saying?" Meng Ci fixed his eyes on Shen Que.
Shen Que replied, "I'd like to hear it."
"Strike first to gain the upper hand; strike last and suffer the consequences."
"So..." Meng Ci looked at the trembling man held by Shen Que.
"Let's go directly and wipe out the White Tiger Hall."
"Agreed." Shen Que approved of the idea.
Meng Ci dashed upstairs, grabbed a motorboat, and pulled out a grenade from his storage space.
When he had bought firearms and ammunition, the bald guy had said that this thing was incredibly powerful, so supplies were scarce.
It was only through great effort that the bald guy managed to find one grenade and three flashbangs.
These two items alone cost him a hundred million yuan.
Meng Ci didn't know if it was true, but he had money.
And as long as it had enough power to save lives, he didn't care about the price, so he bought them without hesitation.
Carrying the items up to the fifth floor, the two began inflating the motorboat while interrogating the man tied up before them.
The man's name was Qian Zhe, who had survived the heavy rain by stealing and scavenging.
Later, he went to a refugee camp but didn't want to work hard, so he ran away.
By chance, he joined the White Tiger Hall, trading his labor for a chance to survive.
The leader of the White Tiger Hall was called Brother Hu, and their base was in a seven-story hotel in M City.
This Brother Hu was a small-time thug before the heavy rain. Two days after the rain started, he led five men to take over the hotel.
Since it was a hotel, the kitchen had plenty of food and a generator. Brother Hu took advantage of being the first to arrive and claimed it all.
Due to the water reaching the fifth floor, they lived on the sixth and seventh floors.
Brother Hu had about thirty men under him, with only his five brothers in charge, controlling most of the food.
These five brothers were strong and looked ferocious.
Brother Hu planned to use the heavy rain to recruit people and become a local tyrant.
Anything they brought back, whether food or supplies, could be exchanged for food if Brother Hu deemed it useful.
Moreover, Brother Hu had captured a dozen teenagers, keeping them in the hotel for his own pleasure.
The sixth floor housed minor henchmen, while Brother Hu and the teenagers stayed on the seventh floor.
Their weapons consisted mainly of knives and guns.
However, many members of the White Tiger Hall said that Brother Hu and his men had killed a soldier recently, thus obtaining a gun.
After gathering enough information about the White Tiger Hall, Qian Zhe was now useless.
Without untying him, Meng Ci pushed him into the water, leaving him to fend for himself.
"Help, help me!"
Qian Zhe struggled and cried for help in the water.
But Meng Ci and Shen Que ignored him and drove the motorboat away.
The hotel wasn't in the city center but still in a bustling area surrounded by numerous buildings.
To avoid alerting anyone with the sound of the motorboat's engine, they began rowing from a distance.
Next to the hotel was a residential building across a small alley, suitable for observing the situation.
However, since this building was connected to several others, they had to leave the motorboat in a room and swim to the residential building.
Upon arrival, Meng Ci opened the backpack on his back, took out a sealed box, and released a fly drone, silently sending it around the hotel.
On the seventh floor, curtains were drawn in some windows; some were sleeping, while others were playing mahjong.
In the mahjong room, dozens of candles illuminated the place.
Most curtains on the sixth floor were closed, except for one room, which seemed to be the kitchen, where an old man in a white chef's uniform was busy.
Recalling the fly drone, they decided to enter through a room on the west side of the sixth floor.
The window there was half-open, and although there were two men inside, they assumed they would leave once the door opened.
Their clothes were soaking wet, making them cold.
But they had no choice but to endure it.
Meng Ci took out a pack of compressed biscuits and shared half with Shen Que.
Shen Que drank mineral water, while Meng Ci took a bottle of cola and chugged several gulps.
"Burp~"
"The cola is really good!"
Shen Que didn’t say anything, finishing his meal and leaning against the wall to rest with his eyes closed.
The members of White Tiger Hall started eating at six o'clock.
Thus, Meng Ci set an alarm for six, adjusting it to vibrate, and held it tightly in his hand.
Then he sat next to Shen Que, their shoulders touching, closing his eyes to rest.
Even though his clothes were wet, perhaps due to the energy expended from the fight, Meng Ci quickly fell asleep.
His head tilted, resting on Shen Que's shoulder.
Shen Que opened his eyes, looked deeply at Meng Ci, then closed them again to rest.
Before six o'clock, the sound of knocking came from the opposite hotel, startling both Meng Ci and Shen Que awake.
Most of the curtains in the hotel were drawn, but through the gaps, they could see the bright lights inside.
Meng Ci released a fly for surveillance, confirming that the windows on the sixth floor were indeed open.
He maneuvered the fly into the room, ensuring no one was inside, and had it stick to a cabinet facing the door.
Both wore helmets, each equipped with night vision goggles, and loaded their guns and knives before entering the water and swimming to the hotel, then climbing up.
They locked the door behind them, rummaged through the drawers, and found some clean clothes to change into.
"This feels much better!" Meng Ci whispered in relief.
With helmets and night vision goggles on, they opened the door and released the fly for surveillance.
The sixth floor was pitch black, and they quietly ascended to the seventh floor in the dark.
At the stairwell on the seventh floor, they heard voices coming from inside.
"Brothers, eat and drink your fill tonight. Later, we'll go out and avenge our brothers Zhang Zhe!"
The fly stuck to the wall, reflecting the situation inside.
Half of the seventh floor consisted of various rooms, while the other half was a banquet hall.
Several square tables were pushed together, and a bald man wearing a fur coat sat in the main seat, holding a girl in a short skirt in his arms.
The girl, shivering from the cold, still smiled coyly as she clung to Brother Long.
"Revenge, revenge."
About twenty thugs shouted in unison.
The room was brightly lit by a crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
Seeing someone pouring wine, Shen Que and Meng Ci waited until they finished drinking before making their move.
Shen Que pulled out a silenced pistol, aimed at the chandelier, and fired. With a bang, the crystal shattered, plunging the room into darkness.
"Damn!" Brother Hu threw his glass to the ground, and the noisy crowd fell silent.
Brother Hu stood up, pushing the woman who had screamed in fright to the ground.
"Someone, check what’s going on."
"Yes."
Amidst the chaos, Meng Ci and Shen Que struck.
