Chapter 114 No, Can't Stay on the Sofa Anymore

    "Bang!"

    "Bang bang bang!"

Just as the time on the phone was about to strike midnight, the sound of fireworks suddenly erupted outside the window.

Meng Ci hurriedly put on his shoes and ran to the balcony, eager to see who was setting off fireworks, completely forgetting that the lights were still on inside.

At the moment he pulled back the curtains, Shen Que promptly turned off the generator in the house, preventing any light from leaking out.

    Outside the window, fireworks bloomed.

    Ten, nine, eight...

    "Three."

    "Two."

    "One."

    "Happy New Year!"

    "Happy New Year!"

As the numbers on the fireworks counted down to three, Meng Ci heard many people around him excitedly counting along.

This infectious atmosphere stirred Meng Ci, and he couldn't help but shout along.

    "Happy New Year!"

    "Shen Que!"

Meng Ci's eyes sparkled as he looked at the fireworks outside, his face beaming with joy, not forgetting to wish Shen Que a happy new year.

Shen Que's eyes were fixed on Meng Ci, seeing the reflection of the fireworks in his eyes, and he smiled too.

    "Meng Ci, Happy New Year!"

The sounds of fireworks and people's cheers rose and fell outside.

Meng Ci didn't quite hear what Shen Que said after "Happy New Year."

"What did you say?" Meng Ci turned his head, puzzled.

Shen Que looked at Meng Ci and shook his head.

Some words require courage to utter, and once spoken, they lose their bravery.

However, Shen Que repeated it silently in his heart.

    Meng Ci, Happy New Year.

    And I like you.

Feeling flustered under Shen Que's gaze, Meng Ci's face turned red, feeling unbearably hot. Embarrassedly, he touched his ears and was about to leave the balcony.

    "Hmm!"

Before Meng Ci could move, Shen Que grabbed his wrist and then their lips met.

Although their kiss wasn't particularly passionate, it was incredibly moving.

The sounds of fireworks and people's cheers gradually faded away, replaced by the sound of their breathing, which grew increasingly clear in their ears.

Shen Que couldn't help but deepen the kiss, his arms around Meng Ci's shoulders tightening, as if trying to meld him into his own body.

    "Aowu!"

Eggplant saw everything clearly in the darkness. Seeing its master being bullied by that cold-faced guy, Eggplant couldn't bear it.

So Eggplant let out two howls and ran over to bite Shen Que's pant leg, trying hard to pull him away.

Shen Que paid no attention to Eggplant, continuing to kiss Meng Ci while leading him to the sofa, then pushing him down onto it.

Soon, pieces of clothing began to fall off.

Eggplant howled, trying to pick up the clothes and give them to Meng Ci so he could put them back on.

    Aowu!

You bad guy, stop bullying my master.

Seeing Eggplant constantly interrupting, Meng Ci paused in taking off his clothes and glared at it.

    "Go lie in your bed!"

"It's the New Year, I don't want to hit you!"

Hearing this, Eggplant whimpered softly, its head drooping as it reluctantly returned to its bed.

    Wuuu!

It just wanted to save its master; why was its master being so mean?

Eggplant had thoughts of running away, but then remembered the rabbits. It gave up on the idea.

The rabbits haven't eaten yet; how can I leave?

Meng Ci saw that Eggplant was satisfied and left, then he continued to take off his clothes.

This time, Shen Que didn't hold back. He pressed Meng Ci onto the sofa and had his way with him, flipping him over and over again.

When Meng Ci woke up the next day, he sniffed!

Hmm, the smell of delicious food.

    Ouch!

Just as Meng Ci tried to get up, he paused—his waist hurt!

Shen Que quickly put down what he was holding and came over to sit beside Meng Ci, rubbing his back.

"How does it feel? Still sore?" Shen Que asked with concern.

    "It's okay."

Meng Ci shook his head; it was just because he got up too abruptly. The pain had already subsided.

Now that he was older, he couldn't engage in such antics anymore, especially not on strange surfaces like sofas.

And last night, they even slept on the sofa.

No, he couldn't be so reckless anymore.

During breakfast, Meng Ci stayed curled up on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, while Shen Que fed him bite by bite.

After eating, Meng Ci lay on the sofa, continuing to play his match-three game.

Shen Que placed many light snacks within Meng Ci's reach. Meng Ci also secretly took out a cup of instant milk tea from his space and had Shen Que prepare it before leaving.

If he poured all the ingredients at once, it would be too sweet for Meng Ci.

So each time, he emptied the coconut jelly first and only poured one-third of the milk tea powder.

Once he finished the cup, he added the remaining two-thirds.

This way, the sweetness was just right for him.

Sipping the milk tea, Meng Ci felt content.

Eggplant kept mumbling about the rabbit hanging above the stove and would come over to stare at it whenever he was bored.

Then he would run to the rabbit pen, drooling at the rabbits inside.

Meng Ci thought Eggplant was simply too idle.

So he brightened up and called Eggplant over.

    "Eggplant, come here!"

Hearing his master's call, Eggplant hurried over and sat obediently in front of Meng Ci.

    "Eggplant, place your paws here!"

Meng Ci patted Eggplant's front paws and then rubbed his own waist.

Eggplant tilted his head, not understanding, but still followed Meng Ci's instructions.

"Good, just like that!" Meng Ci pulled out a sausage from his space and, seeing Eggplant's surprised eyes, peeled it and fed it to him.

After Eggplant finished eating, Meng Ci held his hands and showed him how to press.

Eggplant caught on quickly and began pressing up and down.

"Good job, good job. When you're done, I'll give you a chicken leg." Meng Ci turned back to continue playing his match-three game.

Hearing about the chicken leg, Eggplant pressed even harder.

Perhaps due to the acid rain and eating mutated animals like rats and cockroaches, Eggplant had grown much larger than an average wild wolf recently.

Therefore, his strength was just right for Meng Ci.

As Eggplant continued pressing, Meng Ci's eyelids started to droop.

Amidst repeated exclamations of "unbelievable," Meng Ci's hand holding the phone relaxed, and he fell asleep.

Eggplant didn't tire and kept pressing.

    Bang.

The door opened, but Eggplant merely glanced at the person and continued pressing.

    Aowoo!

Nothing could stop him from earning his chicken leg.

Shen Que came over, warmed his hands by the stove, and then touched Meng Ci's forehead.

Fortunately, he wasn't running a fever.

On New Year's Day, breakfast was usually simple, so dinner needed to be more lavish.

Originally, the rabbit meat was supposed to be braised.

However, given Meng Ci's current condition, the dish had to be prepared lightly.

Shen Que flipped through the cookbook and eventually found a recipe for Corn and Tender Rabbit.

Heat the oil and stir-fry the rabbit meat until cooked. Add chopped scallions, ginger, garlic, and green peppers, and continue stir-frying. Add the corn and stir-fry, then season with salt, oyster sauce, and chicken seasoning. Thicken with a slurry of water and cornstarch, and finish by reducing the sauce over high heat before serving.

What an apocalypse! Half of the book is about cooking recipes, and the other half is about how to make them… *Sigh* How many times should I go check the kitchen to find something to eat while reading this book? Huh? *So frustrating*

For real.. I want to read survival in the apocalypse.. And I’ve read this far but it’s just being a shut-in in the apocalypse after hoarding..
Different than the usual when other story MC fight for survival (even when their space full of hoard materials). And usually zombie come first but in this nature’s wrath come first.
Tbh this kind of troupe is not that many. I want to search new ones instead keep rereading between few stories.. But so far this is not one of story I seek… (Idk if I’ll drop it or just finish few more ch..)
