Chapter 10 This Guy’s a Total Clown
byChapter 10: What a Clown
Everyone was taken aback, suddenly remembering—yes, the person who drew the punishment card could also refuse, as long as they drank twenty shots.
It was just that everyone had subconsciously assumed no one would pick that option.
Out of consideration for Ling Jue's status, the punishments set for tonight weren't too extreme.
Twenty shots of strong liquor, compared to a one-minute hug that could easily be brushed off, just wasn't worth it.
Zhong Mingzhou's expression changed completely.
What was this? His scheming had indirectly proven just how deep their feelings were?
Master Jue, who once had women left and right, was now playing it so close to the vest he wouldn't even spare a single hug.
Qin Shuyi must be feeling smug again.
Amid the crowd's disbelief, Ji Xiuhang, legs crossed, sneered, "Can't you see? Your Miss Qin doesn't mind, but Master Jue can't stand the thought of his precious getting jealous."
Xie Muchen acted even faster, elegantly playing bartender.
He adjusted his glasses. "Twenty shots. It's not every day we get a chance like this to make Ling Jue drink."
No one knew Ling Jue's alcohol tolerance because no one dared to force him.
Moreover, he never got drunk outside, and he never drank much.
In Ling Jue's view, alcohol was for savoring, not for guzzling; using booze to forget your problems is for losers.
This meant even Xie Muchen and Ji Xiuhang never had a shot at testing his limits.
Hearing this, everyone suddenly understood and was raring to go.
It was rare for Master Jue to be such a good sport today.
Ling Jue smiled, wrapping his arm around the woman snuggled against him, who watched, amused, as everyone plotted to get him drunk.
"Baby, your boyfriend is going to get screwed over today."
He kissed her ear. "Can you make it up to me tonight?"
Qin Shuyi stroked his handsome face. "Poor thing."
They whispered intimately, adding to the lively mood.
Only Zhong Mingzhou looked displeased.
Tang Wei, relieved she had made the right choice, shot him a sympathetic glance.
This guy is such a clown.
When the multicolored drinks were lined up on the table, the sight was indeed staggering.
These people really pulled out all the stops, choosing only high-proof drinks—they were determined to get Ling Jue drunk.
Ji Xiuhang grinned, making a gesture. "After you."
Ling Jue remained unfazed. He kissed Qin Shuyi's cheek, sat up straight, and decisively reached for a glass.
He didn't seem worried at all.
Instead, the others grew uneasy—would he get them back for this later?
However, just as everyone was feeling excited, anxious, or hyped up, and as Ling Jue was about to touch the glass, an unhurried female voice rang out.
"Wait."
Everyone stopped.
Another card was placed on the table.
Her lovely features were soft yet animated.
"Sorry, everyone. Enjoy your drinks yourselves."
"Holy shit!" Ji Xiuhang exclaimed, slumping back into his chair, both resentful and envious. "You've got nerves of steel."
The card Qin Shuyi had drawn was today's prize joker card.
It let her control all the drinks on the table.
Not only could it exempt Ling Jue from the penalty, but it could also make someone else drink what was meant for him.
Yet, holding such a powerful card—from Ling Jue's hug punishment, to his refusal, to Xie Muchen scheming to make him drink—she had sat back and watched, waiting until the very last moment to play her hand and steal the show.
Xia Zhiyue whistled. "So cool!"
Ling Jue was also somewhat surprised, a smile touching his stern face.
He picked up the card, raised an eyebrow, and said with certainty,
"If I hadn't refused the punishment, this card would have been used on me anyway?"
Qin Shuyi lifted her eyes, her long lashes framing dark pupils filled with amusement. "Of course."
He hadn't accepted the punishment, so it became the treasure that saved the prince; but if he had chosen the hug, those twenty shots would still have been unavoidable.
She stroked his short hair. "The poor soul who gets punished gets no reward; only the well-behaved boy who guards his virtue receives favor."
The strong liquor prepared for Ling Jue was poured and consumed by the sighing crowd themselves.
And Ling Jue, under the gentle evening breeze, met those bright almond-shaped eyes, feeling intoxicated and light-headed.
Looks like I'm drunk too, he thought.
