Chapter 25: You Can Fly Too?
byChapter 25: You Can Fly Too?
Shen Yu kicked aside the person at his feet and hoisted Bai Yeye up to check him over.
"Are you injured?"
Bai Yeye burped. "A little."
Shen Yu frowned. "Where?"
"In my heart. Their kitchen didn't have the chicken drumsticks I like."
"..."
He really wanted to beat Bai Yeye up too.
After repeatedly telling himself not to touch his little pet, Shen Yu lugged Bai Yeye out, scolding him as he walked.
"Do you even know what kind of people they are!"
"I know, bad guys." Bai Yeye was full and didn't want to move, and let Shen Yu carry him.
Shen Yu's tone turned stern. "And you still followed them!"
Bai Yeye wagged his tail. "I was hungry, and you wouldn't feed me."
"I gave you the Space Storage. Couldn't you grab it yourself?"
"I didn't want to. Oh right, I'm still waging cold war on you, hmph." Bai Yeye turned his head away with a sulky pout.
Shen Yu tossed him into the spaceship. "I'll deal with you when we get back!"
"Nyah nyah! Who's afraid of who!"
As soon as Shen Yu flew out of the border lane, dozens of spaceships surrounded them.
It was the group from the casino.
Shen Yu's eyes narrowed. He should have just burned the place down and saved himself the trouble.
Bai Yeye nervously pressed closer to him. "Can we outrun them?"
If it were the base's spaceship, they could just ram straight through. But this ship was a bargain buy, nowhere near the quality of the base's.
Shen Yu shot him a glance and didn't answer.
Bai Yeye's fur bristled. Hmph, fine, cold war then. He wasn't scared anyway!
Dozens of ships rammed into them. Shen Yu maneuvered the ship to dodge, using its sturdiest parts to strike their rear fuel tanks. Once the tanks were breached, they couldn't continue flying—those hit lightly could still land safely, while those hit hard simply crashed.
They tried to hit Shen Yu's fuel tank too, but couldn't even get close.
Bai Yeye was just about to gloat when he saw a small cannon barrel extend from a ship behind them. He quickly warned Shen Yu, "Don't get drawn in! Flee first if you can!"
His warning came too late. With a bang, the enemy's cannon fired a shell, puncturing their fuel tank.
Shen Yu calmly turned the ship, first ramming the enemy vessel, then pulling a parachute suit from the safety locker and putting it on Bai Yeye.
The parachute suit was too small—Bai Yeye couldn't fit into it. Frowning, Shen Yu tossed it aside.
"Why are you worrying about me! Put one on yourself!"
"I don't need it. Jump!" Shen Yu opened the ship's door and pushed Bai Yeye out.
The sudden weightlessness made Bai Yeye scream. Just as he thought he'd crash, a pair of strong arms caught him securely, slowing their fall.
Bai Yeye opened his eyes, astonished at the massive black wings behind Shen Yu. "You... you have wings too?!"
He remembered Shen Yu's beast form was the enormous Taotie, and Taoties didn't have wings.
Shen Yu didn't answer his question. Bai Yeye suddenly remembered something else, stunned. "Do you have two beast forms too?!"
Shen Yu raised an eyebrow. "Too?"
Only an incredibly, incredibly rare few possessed two beast forms—not one in ten thousand, but one in a billion.
Bai Yeye scrambled to cover his slip. "I read it in a book. The great heroes who unified the stars long ago all had two beast forms. This is the first time I've seen a living person with two."
Shen Yu snorted. "You actually read?"
"Pfft! I'm ignoring you!" Bai Yeye buried his face in his paws, his heart in turmoil.
Legend had it that only someone destined to unify the stars would have two beast forms, because that's how the great heroes who unified the stars were.
Bai Yeye had them too—he could turn into a Samoyed or a mermaid.
A fortune-teller had told him long ago that there was another person in this universe with two beast forms, and that when he grew up, he would inevitably fight that person. But in the end, he would be the winner.
He hadn't cared back then. Whoever it was, he wasn't afraid.
But why did it have to be Shen Yu?
Though he said he hated Shen Yu, deep down he really liked him—wanted to be good friends, wanted to play with him forever.
If a huge conflict ever arose between them, to the point of never speaking to each other again, Bai Yeye would be heartbroken.
Sensing Bai Yeye's low mood, Shen Yu thought he was genuinely angry and patted his back. "Angry?"
Bai Yeye yawned. "I'm not that petty. Just sleepy from being full."
"Then don't eat so much next time, so I can still carry you." Luckily, it was him accompanying Bai Yeye today; anyone else might not have been able to lift him.
Bai Yeye gritted his teeth, really wanting to bite that smug face.
Shen Yu found a safe place to land, planning to buy another spaceship.
Only after landing did Bai Yeye notice the scraped, bleeding skin on his hand. He asked awkwardly, "When did you get hurt?"
Shen Yu shrugged it off. "Probably just scraped while fighting those guys."
Bai Yeye stopped walking. "So lame. You got hurt fighting just a few people."
A few? More like a few hundred. Shen Yu didn't reply.
Despite his words, Bai Yeye was worried about the injury and insisted on stopping to find medicine.
"It'll heal by tonight on its own."
"It's not like we don't have medicine, why wait until tonight?" Bai Yeye opened the medicine bottle he carried and dabbed it on the wound with his mouth.
As soon as the medicinal powder was applied, the wound healed instantly.
“This medicinal powder of yours isn’t cheap.”
“You bet!” The medicine was priceless; it took Bai Ruoshui over half a year to develop a single bottle, and Bai Yeye himself was usually reluctant to use it.
Shen Yu said meaningfully, “Bai Yuanzhou once said that other than himself, only a few important members of the Romanel royal family have this medicinal powder.”
Bai Yeye said with confidence, “Then I’m their family’s dog, doesn’t that make me an important member?”
“Mm, indeed heavy.” Shen Yu twitched the corner of his mouth.
Bai Yeye lunged at him to bite: “I’ll take you down today!!!”
The two started roughhousing again, brushing past that topic.
Although Shen Yu didn’t ask anything more, he had many doubts.
At first, he thought Bai Yeye was just a very clever pet dog, but over this period, there were too many suspicious things about Bai Yeye.
In the base, aside from being playful, he would occasionally engage in serious discussions, such as analyzing the current situation, or combat plans, and even knew basic weapons development theory.
Forget a pet dog—even a military dog couldn’t do that.
The most questionable thing was Bai Ruoshui’s attitude toward him. He had been on the planet Romanel for so many years, only making mild counterattacks when troubled, but when Bai Yeye was bullied, he actually mobilized troops immediately.
This level of concern had far exceeded the level of concern for a pet dog. Who exactly is Bai Yeye?
