Chapter 29: Kill Him, and You’ll Be the Best Under Heaven.
byChapter 29: Kill Him, and You'll Be the Best in the World.
The moment the Arena King charged into the arena, Bai Yeye's heart was in his throat, wishing he could take Shen Yu's place.
"Be careful!"
The crowd also thought Shen Yu would be torn apart and roared with excitement.
The next moment, the Arena King flew out just like the first challenger, and even farther, crashing through two walls.
Shen Yu looked at Bai Yeye expressionlessly, as if displeased by his worry.
A foe like this got Bai Yeye this worked up? Just how weak did Bai Yeye think he was?
After a brief daze, Bai Yeye burst into cheers, jumping and shouting loudly: "Shen Yu, you're amazing!!!"
Now the crowd's hearts were in their throats. Shen Yu? Shen Yu?!
That righteous and fierce General Shen Yu?! But that couldn't be—the guy had an ordinary face. How could he be General Shen Yu?
Yet with that strength and the same name, how could it be just a coincidence?
Someone from the Wei family noticed traces of a human skin mask on Shen Yu's face and quickly sent someone to invite Shen Yu and Bai Yeye for tea on the top floor.
"General Shen, I'm truly sorry for what happened today. If I'd known it was you, I'd never have dared let you enter the arena. Please forgive me, General Shen, I beg your forgiveness." The head of the Wei family bowed deeply, his back completely drenched in cold sweat.
Even though this place was lawless, everyone knew it was only because Shen Yu hadn't come with his army. If Shen Yu brought his troops, they'd all be finished.
Shen Yu was in no mood to argue with him. "Give me the Dragon Scale Grass."
"Yes, yes, of course. Please wait here, I'll go get it for you right now." The Wei family head bowed and backed out, staying reverent the whole time.
Bai Yeye sat beside Shen Yu, eating pastries. "I didn't know you were this strong. I'll make you my sidekick."
Downstairs, the crowd scattered like they'd seen a ghost at the mention of Shen Yu's name. Only Shen Yu could scare these lawless thugs that bad.
But Shen Yu was still on edge. "It's not that simple."
"What do you mean?"
The moment he said that, Bai Yeye suddenly stood up, his nose twitching before his expression turned horrified. "There are explosives outside!"
Shen Yu instantly grabbed Bai Yeye and jumped out the window.
The moment he jumped, the heatwave from the huge explosion burned his back. Shen Yu grunted, unable to muster the strength to manifest wings.
Fortunately, there was a lake outside the window, so they wouldn't die from the fall.
Bai Yeye swam over to Shen Yu, his eyes brimming with tears of worry.
Shen Yu's back was covered in blood, turning the clear lake water red.
"Shen Yu, hold onto me. I'll get you to shore."
"I can swim. Don't worry about me. You go first."
Just as Shen Yu was about to lead Bai Yeye away, the once calm lake began to ripple, then a huge whirlpool formed—clearly man-made.
Shen Yu's heart sank. So that's why there was a lake behind the house—it was a trap too!
Already severely injured and slowed down by the water, Shen Yu was quickly sucked into the whirlpool.
In his last moments before passing out, he looked around and, not seeing Bai Yeye, felt a wave of relief.
He didn't get pulled in—he must've escaped. Good. At least both of them didn't get caught.
It was just a shame—he was curious what that silly little pup would look like in human form.
Just as Shen Yu was about to close his eyes, his spinning body suddenly stopped, and he saw a radiant figure swimming toward him.
So beautiful... Shen Yu wondered if he was hallucinating before dying, because why else would he see such a beautiful merman?
Bai Yeye had transformed into his merman beast form, his upper body that of his human appearance, while his lower half had a dazzling fish tail. Unlike other merfolk, his tail had seven colors, glowing brilliantly underwater even without sunlight.
Bai Yeye caught Shen Yu's slowly sinking body and gently tapped his face. "Shen Yu! Are you okay!"
Shen Yu, stunned by his beauty, had already fainted and couldn't respond.
Afraid Shen Yu would suffocate, Bai Yeye pressed his lips to Shen Yu's and breathed air into him as his fish tail automatically swam toward a safe area.
After dragging Shen Yu ashore, Bai Yeye pressed on Shen Yu's chest to ensure he hadn't drowned, then took out his own medicine bottle and sprinkled all the powder onto Shen Yu's back.
A cold, sinister voice sounded behind him at an inopportune moment: "Little Wretched Dog, you're really generous. That's half a year's worth of your brother's work."
Bai Yeye turned back in fury and glared at him. "You did this on purpose, didn't you!"
Wu Shao admitted bluntly, "I did it on purpose, but you've only got yourself to blame for exposing Shen Yu's whereabouts. With his abilities, this would never have happened otherwise."
He knew that the Wei family's goods wouldn't be easy to obtain, which was why he had sent them. But he didn't expect Bai Yeye to reveal Shen Yu's identity and cause this to happen.
Bai Yeye's eyes went cold. "If he really dies, I'll never forgive myself—and I'll never forgive you either!"
Wu Shao laughed loud. "Little Wretched Dog, if I were you, I'd be hoping he dies."
He leaned down, his sinister voice like a beautiful poison tempting someone to fall. "You were born to be the Galactic Overlord, but so was he. That means only one of you can survive."
"Not that I'm underestimating you, but in a real fight, you can't match him in commanding troops, and you'd lose in one-on-one combat. No chance at all. This is the heavens giving you an opportunity. If you kill him now, then with your abilities and help from your father and brothers, no one can beat you. The whole galaxy will belong to the Long family. Think about what your father expects of you."
"A position above billions awaits you. Kill him now." Wu Shao placed a poisoned dagger beside Bai Yeye, even planning an escape route for him. "If you're afraid of the world's judgment, use this blade. Then pin it all on me—I swear I'll take the blame."
Wu Shao said these tempting words, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
No matter how good a friend, it can never beat being the best in the world.
