Chapter 67: He Wants the Whole World
by 犬夜叉烧包Chapter 67: He Wants the Entire World
The dark guards assigned to protect them appeared from all directions, encircling the mysterious figure in the cloak.
The man wasn't flustered either. With a disdainful sneering laugh, he released another pinch of powder from between his fingers.
The powder spread quickly through the air, and everyone who came into contact with it collapsed, wailing in agony.
Bai Ruoshui, who had rushed forward, knew something was wrong and instinctively closed his eyes. The powder burned intensely as soon as it touched his skin, but Wu Shao quickly pulled him behind himself and sprinkled an antidote over him.
“Are you all right?”
“I’m fine.”
“Stay away from him. Stay back!”
“Master!”
Apart from Wu Shao and Bai Yeye, no one else could get close to the mysterious man, who was covered with poison.
Unable to transform into a merman in public, Bai Yeye was at a disadvantage when attacking in his Samoyed form. After a few exchanges, he saw his chance and bit the man's arm.
The man let out a pained grunt, pulled out a dagger with his other hand, and stabbed at Bai Yeye's head.
Just as the blade was about to reach Bai Yeye, Wu Shao grabbed the cold blade with his bare hand. Blood dripped onto Bai Yeye.
“Stinky Old Man!” Bai Yeye instinctively opened his mouth to shout, only to get kicked hard.
An ordinary person could hardly budge Bai Yeye, but the attacker understood the physiological structure of various creatures well and kicked him at a joint. Bai Yeye felt his left foreleg buckle, forcing him to his knees as he watched the man escape.
“Yeye!” Bai Ruoshui, both shocked and enraged, picked up a long sword from the ground, intent on killing the man himself.
The man didn't stick around. He leaped out of the window and fled.
“Take care of things here. I’ll go after him!” Wu Shao said, ignoring his own injury as he followed the escape route.
“Yeye, hang in there.” Bai Ruoshui could see that Bai Yeye had fractured a bone. Tears instantly filled his eyes, but he didn't waste time crying. He immediately performed emergency treatment to ease Bai Yeye's suffering.
Bai Yeye's soft fur was soaked with cold sweat from the pain, yet he forced a smile to comfort Bai Ruoshui: “It's okay, it doesn't hurt at all… Shit… the grass grows long and the orioles fly in the second month of spring…”
Bai Ruoshui sprinkled a suppressive antidote on the poisoned people, told the uninjured to take them back, and carried Bai Yeye to the base himself.
“I don’t want to go back to the base. Take me to the prince's residence.”
Bai Yeye didn't dare let Shen Yu see him, nor Long Rui. They often discussed matters at the base. If they found out he was injured, at best they'd yell at him; at worst, they'd send him back to the Roman planet!
“Brother, I'm in so much pain. Please.” Bai Yeye looked at Bai Ruoshui pleadingly.
Bai Ruoshui's heart softened and told the pilot to change course.
“Yeye, you can get away with it now, but not for long.”
“I trust your medical skills. I'll be fine in three days.”
They say bones take a hundred days to heal, but with Bai Ruoshui's medical skills and rare medicines, he could recover quickly.
Bai Ruoshui gently ruffled his fur, then took him back for treatment.
After dealing with Bai Yeye, Bai Ruoshui began studying an antidote for the poisoned dark guards, warned Bai Yeye to stay still for now.
Bai Yeye could barely move anyway. He lay listlessly on the bed.
One moment he was thinking about how he wouldn't see Shen Yu for several days; the next, he was wondering who the cloaked man really was.
He had called Wu Shao "senior brother," but Wu Shao had said the Divine Physician took only one disciple. How could he have a junior brother?
Actually, that wasn't the most important thing. What mattered was that Bai Yeye felt that even if Wu Shao caught the man, he wouldn't bring him back.
During their joint fight, Wu Shao had several obvious chances to capture the man but didn't take them. And when Bai Ruoshui wanted to chase after him, Wu Shao didn't let him follow.
If Wu Shao was working with this man… Bai Yeye broke out in a cold sweat at the possibility.
This wasn't just about them; it was about the lives of Lex and even the entire galaxy!
—
“Wu Xiu, you’re not dead!” Wu Shao tore off Wu Xiu's cloak, and when he saw the face pale as paper, his eyes turned bloodshot.
He grabbed Wu Xiu by the throat, but Wu Xiu showed no fear. With a face drained of all color, he smiled—under the sunlight, he looked like a ghost crawling out of hell.
“Of course I’m not dead. I have you to thank for holding back at that time and not tearing me to pieces.”
“What… what have you been practicing!” Wu Shao could tell at a glance that Wu Xiu had either practiced some evil technique or taken forbidden drugs.
Wu Xiu flashed an eerie smile. “That’s not something I can tell you, Senior Brother. I never thought you’d get involved in this. It’s unlike you.”
Wu Shao roared in anger, “So it really was you who stirred all this up! Do you have any idea what you’re doing!”
Back when he first studied Gu poison, he had a faint feeling that besides himself, only Wu Xiu could have the ability to summon the Gu Poison King. But he thought Wu Xiu had died in the conflict thirty years ago. He never imagined he had survived and turned himself into this inhuman, ghost-like state.
“Of course I know what I’m doing. It was our master’s dying wish. He wanted to help everyone achieve eternal life. Now I’m using Gu poison to control them—they’ll lose all pain and consciousness and live forever. I’m helping them.”
Veins bulged on the back of Wu Shao’s hand. “Shut up! You’re not worthy to mention Master, and you’re no longer my junior brother! Stop this immediately, or I’ll be the first to kill you!”
If he had known Wu Xiu would turn out like this, Wu Shao would have killed him for good back then. He never claimed to be a good man, but he would never do anything to bring ruin to the world.
Wu Xiu wiped his smile off his face. “Senior Brother, I’m afraid you can’t kill me now.”
He clapped his hands, and countless poisoned people emerged from all directions, glaring at Wu Shao with murderous intent.
Wu Shao cursed under his breath, released Wu Xiu, and fled the scene.
Wu Xiu didn’t give chase. He watched Wu Shao’s back with a manic look in his eyes.
In the past, he only wanted to contend for the position of Divine Physician. Now he wanted more. He wanted the entire world!
