Chapter 103: Digging Up the Grave

Bai Yeye seized Bai Yuanzhou by the throat, but Bai Yuanzhou had no strength left to resist, his eyes locked desperately onto Wu Shao not far away.

    "I'll... kill you..."

"Bai Yeye, stop! Wu Xiu, you can't kill him! Stop!" Wu Shao was frantic as he tried desperately to hold Wu Xiu and Bai Yeye back.

Wu Xiu said, dripping with false sincerity, "Senior brother, I'm doing this for his benefit. His precious omega is dead, so what's the point of him living? I'm sending him to join Bai Ruoshui as a pair of doomed lovers. Isn't that sweet?"

    "You animal! Stop!"

Wu Xiu gave the second order: "Do it!"

Bai Yeye released his throat, then raised his hand and drove it through the center of his heart. When he pulled his hand out, all that was left was a bloody hole. Bai Yuanzhou didn't even close his eyes, staring at Wu Xiu in death, his vengeance unfulfilled.

Wu Shao looked utterly hollow, unable to bear watching any longer.

Wu Xiu walked over to Bai Yuanzhou, checked for breath, and after confirming he was dead, smiled at Wu Shao: "Senior brother, so heartbroken? So you have something to remember him by, I'll have him cremated. That way you can reminisce whenever you look at them. Somebody, drag him out and burn him."

"You... you..." Wu Shao coughed up a mouthful of blood, unable to say anything else.

Seeing this, Wu Xiu let out a hypocritical sigh: "Senior brother, I've told you before, don't get attached to people. Why did you even take on disciples? When a disciple dies, you grieve; when a disciple's lover dies, you grieve too. You're just asking for it."

Wu Shao closed his eyes, wishing he'd just black out right then.

Wu Xiu patted Bai Yeye's head with satisfaction: "What a useful tool."

"Master! We've got a problem!" A subordinate burst in frantically, shaking: "There are mermaids lying in ambush outside, and they're trying to bust their way in right now."

When Shen Yu and the others fought, they held back from landing fatal blows. The mermaids didn't give a damn—one slash, one head. The poisoned whose heads were cut off couldn't launch a second attack.

Wu Xiu muttered a curse, "Retreat!"

    "Yes!"

He grabbed Wu Shao and Bai Yeye and escaped through a secret passage to another hidden base.

At the sight of Bai Yuanzhou's corpse, the mermaids went even more berserk. They didn't manage to catch Wu Xiu, but they took out a lot of his men.

By the time Shen Yu got there, the place was already a bloodbath.

Shen Yu stumbled a few steps before crouching down beside Bai Yuanzhou.

Behind him, Gu Yuankai and the others' eyes were red. It had only been a day since they'd last heard from him—how did it come to this?

Shen Yu stood over Bai Yuanzhou's body for a long time, so calm that not a flicker of emotion showed. But Gu Yuankai, who'd been with him for years, knew Shen Yu was on the verge of breaking down.

Over a decade of friendship—this was his brother in arms.

"General, cover him up, let Yuanzhou rest easy." Gu Yuankai held the royal funeral cloth, wanting Shen Yu to drape it over him.

Shen Yu didn't take the cloth. Instead, he hauled Bai Yuanzhou up off the ground and carried him on his back. With heavy steps, he carried him home, one step at a time.

When they first met, Bai Yuanzhou was still weak, beaten until he couldn't stand, and it was Shen Yu who carried him home then.

Shen Yu thought he'd never get that chance again.

After he left, Gu Yuankai and the remaining guards finally let their grief and rage out.

"Wu Xiu! If you've got the balls, come out! I'll fucking kill you!"

The bastard behind it all was hiding in the shadows, watching their reactions with satisfaction. Making Shen Yu stumble so easily—guess Shen Yu wasn't all that special after all.

His smugness didn't last long, because Shen Yu wasn't as wrecked and beaten as he'd imagined. After sending Bai Yuanzhou back to the prince's residence, Shen Yu launched a crazed hunt and attack on everyone left under Wu Xiu's control. In just two days, Wu Xiu was forced to switch secret bases three times. The last base was his final stronghold—if this got found out, he'd have no choice but to flee Lex.

Being hunted like this pissed Wu Xiu off. Whenever he got angry, he needed to feed on fresh blood to settle down. These past few days, everyone around him who was still conscious—except Wu Shao—had become a victim.

Seeing him like this, Wu Shao finally found something to needle him with: "Just wait. It's only a matter of time before Shen Yu tracks you down. You can't beat him. He'll kill you sooner or later."

Wu Xiu punched him hard in the gut, watching Wu Shao hit the ground, face twisted in pain as he curled up, before his anger cooled.

"Senior brother, I think you should worry about your own ass right now."

Wu Shao gritted out between his teeth: "If you've got the balls, kill me!"

"I'm not killing you because I lack balls—it's because I know you living hurts more than dying." Wu Xiu was like a crazy bastard with mood swings. He'd just hit him moments ago, and now he was helping him up like they were best buddies.

Wu Shao gave him a cold stare: "Then let me live. I'll wait to watch you die by Shen Yu's hand!"

"Then watch closely, and we'll see who comes out on top!"

Shen Yu's just some guy who can lead a few soldiers—how dare he go up against me?

Wu Xiu went back to his bat throne and sat down, speaking arrogantly: "Get me the antidote for the Gu poison and show it to me."

"Why the hell should I listen to you?" Wu Shao didn't fear death anymore and didn't feel like he had to be threatened.

Wu Xiu gently stroked the bat on the armrest, its surface gleaming coldly: "You can refuse, sure. Then I'll use the Gu Poison King to control you. With your body, you'd probably last two days, tops."

    "And?"

"Two days is plenty for you to personally dig up Master's grave. I'll bring you back to your senses before you die, so you can see your own handiwork."

"Wu Xiu! You're worse than a damn animal!" Wu Shao couldn't believe he'd say something so shameless. That was their master's grave! How could he be so cruel to the man who raised him?

Wu Xiu shrugged, all nonchalant: "That old man taught you all that behind my back. Now his grave gets dug up—he asked for it."

"Master did that because he knew from the start you were up to no good! But even so, Master never once thought of giving up on you. He kept you by his side and took care of you. And this is how you repay him?"

Wu Xiu sneered: "Kept me by his side to take care of me? No, it was to pave the way for you, to show the world how great his precious senior disciple was."

"You! You're a lost cause!" Wu Shao shook with rage, now only regretting he hadn't been ruthless enough back then to actually kill him!

Wu Xiu had no more patience for arguing: "I'll give you half an hour. If I don't get what I want in thirty minutes, I promise you'll be seeing Master's coffin real soon."
