Chapter 102: Kill Him
by 犬夜叉烧包Chapter 102: Kill Him
The battle finally quieted down a bit, and Shen Yu finally found time to ask Long Rui, "How's YeYe been doing lately?"
Long Rui gave him a surprised look. "Isn't YeYe in the base?"
"No, isn't he at your hotel?"
Long Rui started to panic too. "I heard he left, and after he ran into you, he never came back to the hotel. I thought you had him helping out at the base."
They'd all been so busy lately that nobody had any idea where Bai Yeye actually was.
"I tried to get him to go back that day, but he wouldn't even give me the time of day." A flicker of hurt crossed Shen Yu's eyes at the memory.
"I'll contact him first." Long Rui pulled out his communicator and waited a long time, but all he got was an automated reply from Bai Yeye.
"Handling something. Don't worry."
"Damn it, YeYe must have gone after Wu Xiu!" Long Rui yanked at his hair in frustration, silently praying Bai Yeye wouldn't do anything stupid.
Shen Yu stood up, fighting the urge to go after him.
Shen Cun spoke up. "You don't need to keep such a tight leash on him. Don't treat him like a total kid. YeYe's got a good head on his shoulders—he'll look out for himself. Especially since he knows your father is already grieving; he's definitely not gonna gamble with his own life. You should give him a chance to get some real experience. Coddling him forever isn't doing him any favors, if you ask me."
He never fussed over Xie Yongyun running around outside and getting into trouble, because he didn't want Xie Yongyun to become the kind of person whose parents had to worry every time he stepped out the door.
He could understand them not wanting Bai Yeye in the war, but he couldn't understand them getting all worked up over Bai Yeye just leaving the house. It wasn't like he was some defenseless omega. Even if he liked to goof off and act unreliable, he wouldn't gamble with his own life.
Long Rui sighed. "We've been protecting him for so many years. It's just habit at this point."
"I get it, but it's time to let go. Didn't your father also say YeYe's gonna have to take on big responsibilities one day? He can't keep going like this."
Long Rui had nothing to say to that, though he still felt uneasy inside.
Shen Yu could only swallow his own anxiety and called Gu Yuankai in.
"General, what is it?"
"How's Yuanzhou doing now?"
"Got word the day before yesterday—he's only sleeping an hour or two a day, spending the rest of his time hunting for Wu Xiu's hideout. He hasn't gotten back to me today yet. I'll check again in a bit."
Shen Yu sighed. "Keep an eye on him. Report anything unusual to me right away."
"Yes."
After Gu Yuankai left, Shen Cun poured each of them a cup of tea.
"Relax. Things are going better than we expected, right? With a hundred twenty thousand troops on our side now, our odds are a lot better."
"I'm just worried Wu Xiu's still got some trick up his sleeve."
Wu Xiu's silence these past few days had them completely baffled.
"The astrologer said the final victory would be ours."
Shen Yu took a sip of tea. He didn't just want victory—he wanted everyone to make it out safe.

In the dark, damp dungeon, Bai Yeye and Wu Shao were tied to two wooden frames, apart from each other. Wu Shao was in better shape, but Bai Yeye's body was covered in wounds too numerous to count.
Wu Xiu looked at his hateful glare with satisfaction. "You're still alive after all this. You really are tough."
Bai Yeye sneered. "You'll die before I do, guaranteed."
Wu Xiu burst out laughing. "That's only if you've got what it takes."
He walked up to Bai Yeye and tilted his blood-stained face up. "Do you know why I didn't use the Gu Poison King on you right away?"
Bai Yeye spat a mouthful of blood in his face. "Get away from me. Don't touch me."
Wu Xiu didn't get mad. He wiped the blood off his face and whipped him a few more times. Bai Yeye bit down on his lower lip, not letting out a single sound.
"Because I know the two of you came here for the Gu Poison King." Wu Xiu walked over to Wu Shao, his eyes glinting coldly.
"Senior brother, I'm not as dumb as you. You brought him right to my doorstep—weren't you hoping I'd pull out the Gu Poison King?"
Wu Shao clenched his fists and stayed silent, just glaring at him coldly.
"Senior brother, do you think that because he's immune to all poisons, even if I put the Gu Poison King in his body, I couldn't control him? Then you'd be dead wrong. My medical skills have already surpassed yours—even surpassed our master from back in the day."
"Dream on." Wu Shao mocked him.
Wu Xiu didn't care. He took out a cloth bundle filled with silver needles of all sizes.
The bases of the needles were all black, proof they'd been soaked in poison.
Wu Shao's expression changed. Controlling people with silver needles—the master had only ever taught that technique to him.
Seeing Wu Shao's reaction, Wu Xiu smirked smugly. "You all thought I was asleep back then, didn't you? Never figured I was watching. The master thought his secret technique was only passed down to his precious senior disciple."
Wu Shao gritted his teeth. "It's because you were already twisted at heart that the master refused to teach you."
"True, I'm twisted. And that's why I have all this now. You're the righteous one, and look how pathetically you've ended up." Wu Xiu said as he approached Bai Yeye.
"You! Don't touch him!" Wu Shao struggled against the iron chains binding him.
Wu Xiu slowly inserted the silver needles into Bai Yeye's body. "I have to thank you, senior brother, for finding me such an excellent source. When I unite the star system, I'll proclaim your great deeds to the whole universe."
"Bai Yeye! Run!" Wu Shao's expression was twisted with desperation. If Bai Yeye got controlled, everything they'd worked for would be lost.
Bai Yeye wanted to run, but in his current state, even breaking free of the chains was impossible, let alone escaping.
Wu Xiu pulled out needles and pierced them into various acupoints on his body. After driving the final long needle into his forehead, Bai Yeye's pupils lost their light, becoming dull and vacant.
Wu Xiu nodded with satisfaction. "If this method weren't so troublesome, it'd be better than the Gu poison. At least I can be certain he's truly under my control."
"Wu Xiu! Let him go! I'll do whatever you want!" Wu Shao struggled until the chains cut into his flesh. If something happened to Bai Yeye, he'd have no face to show Bai Ruoshui in the afterlife.
Wu Xiu ignored him and began testing whether his experiment had succeeded.
"Bring him in."
Bai Yuanzhou, covered in wounds, was dragged in. When he saw Wu Xiu, he wanted to kill him, but his body was too broken to move.
Seeing Bai Yeye there, Bai Yuanzhou's pupils dilated. "YeYe! Wu Xiu, I'll kill you!"
"Does everyone have to say that when they see me? Do you really have the ability to kill me?" Wu Xiu sneered, then raised his hand to release Bai Yeye's chains and gave him an order. "Go kill him. Show me your loyalty."
