Chapter 131: General Shen, Loses It Completely.

Shen Yu held up the jelly-legged Xie Shihua and Bai Ningxin, one on each side, thinking: OVO (a wide-eyed, innocent look).

Man, what a good little brother, showing up to save him at just the right moment. He decided right then and there to never mess with Xie Yongyun again.

Xie Yongyun, too caught up in his fear to even notice them, wiped his tears away and shoved Long Rui, a little annoyed: "I don't need you to take responsibility. I've made up my mind—I'll raise this kid on my own!"

Hmph, it took him this long to come looking for him. No way was he going to give him the time of day.

Long Rui was just as exasperated. His back was so badly hurt that it was a miracle he could even get out of bed.

"Don't say stuff like that in anger. Just let me take care of you and the baby, alright?"

"No, no! And you can't tell anyone about this. Bye!"

The Little Phoenix stormed ahead a couple of steps, sulking, but as he turned the corner and spotted his dad, his legs went weak and he almost ate dirt.

Luckily, Long Rui was quick enough to catch him. Long Rui was just as shocked to see Bai Ningxin and the crew, but he kept his cool better than the Little Phoenix. His dad was bound to find out eventually, so no big deal that he knew now.

Xie Shihua pointed a shaky finger at him: "You—you—no wonder you were so nice to me! You were trying to get with my son!"

The Little Phoenix braced himself and stepped up: "Dad, it's not his fault. It's all on me!"

"Shut your mouth! You've got a lot of guts! You weren't even together yet and you already let him—you—you—I'll kill you!!"

Bai Ningxin caught Xie Shihua's hand: "Why you getting so riled up? It's not like you and Shen Cun didn't already hook up before you were official. You old fuddy-duddy. Not like me—I'm so progressive~"

So that's what it felt like to throw his own words back in his face. Pretty satisfying.

Xie Shihua was so mad he couldn't even talk. He was definitely going to find a way to take Bai Ningxin down, aaargh!

Twenty minutes later, Xie Shihua sat at the head of the room, looking thoroughly pissed, with a grinning Bai Ningxin and Long Shen on either side of him.

Down below, Long Rui was on his knees, while Xie Yongyun was standing—on account of the "baby."

Shen Yu stood off to the side, putting on a stern face while secretly loving every second of it.

Xie Shihua slammed his hand on the table. "Spill it! When did this happen?!"

The Little Phoenix hung his head, trying to take all the blame himself: "He really had nothing to do with it—it's all because of me!"

Long Rui interrupted him: "It's my fault. I lost my head back during the fighting, and then the war kept me from dealing with it in time. It's all on me. Yongyun had nothing to do with it. Uncle Xie, you can punish me any way you want, but please don't blame Yongyun."

"That's not what happened," Xie Yongyun tried to explain.

Long Shen cleared his throat, trying to wipe the grin off his face that was practically reaching his ears: "Look, arguing about who's at fault right now isn't gonna get us anywhere. I say we focus on how to fix this, don't you think?"

Xie Shihua's glare was murderous. Let him talk? He'd open his mouth and start cussing up a storm!

Long Shen teased him: "Oh, come on, don't be so ancient. Kids falling for each other and things getting a little out of hand—that's totally normal."

The veins on Xie Shihua's hand were bulging and pulsing. He seriously wanted to clock both of them right in the face.

"I'm done with this! Shen Cun, you handle your own son!" Xie Shihua contacted Shen Cun.

Shen Cun, after hearing the whole story, stayed pretty chill about it: "Isn't this a good thing? Then they should just get married."

Shen Cun had once heard a fortune-teller mention the "dragon and phoenix bring prosperity" omen—if Long Rui and Xie Yongyun got married, it would bring blessings to the whole land. Back then, he'd thought those two couldn't stand each other. Turns out they'd secretly gotten together.

Long Shen slapped his thigh. "See, I told you it was a good thing. So, future in-law, when can you come by?"

"I'll be over in a bit. Let's talk through the wedding plans properly."

    "Great, great, great!"

Xie Shihua was grinding his teeth in rage. He was gonna give Shen Cun a piece of his mind too when he showed up!

Things on Lex's side were mostly wrapped up, so Shen Cun arrived in Romar by evening. He first comforted his frightened youngest son.

"Good child, don't be afraid. Daddy's here."

Xie Yongyun sniffled. As expected, his father was the kindest to him.

Xie Shihua pinched him: "You're being too soft! Go teach them a lesson already!"

Shen Cun fondly stroked his face: "Sweetheart, don't scare the baby."

    Xie Shihua huffed indignantly.

After soothing the two omegas at home, Shen Cun got down to business with Long Rui.

"Arui, Uncle knows you're a good kid, but this is a big deal. You're not even married yet—what's our Yunyun supposed to do from now on?"

Long Rui's palms were sweating. Compared to Xie Shihua's open fury, Shen Cun's half-smiling expression made him far more nervous.

"Uncle Shen, rest assured, I will definitely take responsibility for Yongyun."

Shen Cun chuckled lightly: "Uncle knows you'll take responsibility, of course. But responsibility is one thing—how you treat our Yunyun from now on is another. When Yunyun was at home, I never let him suffer a single hardship or shed a single tear."

Of course, the time Xie Yongyun made himself cry with chili powder didn't count.

Long Rui quickly made his pledge: "Don't worry. Once I marry Yongyun, I'll treat him well in every way. I'll put him first in everything and never let him suffer the slightest grievance!"

Shen Cun poured himself a cup of tea, and when he set the teapot down, there was a bit more force behind it: "Then you'd better remember every word you've promised me here. If there's even the slightest deviation in the future, I won't be happy."

Long Rui couldn't help but swallow hard, repeatedly affirming his stance.

Though Shen Cun no longer held the throne, his presence was far more intimidating than any emperor's.

After the warning, he returned to his gentle tone: "Good Yunyun, when do you want to get married?"

And that's when our eager-to-marry General Shen had to chime in.

"Marriage is a good thing, but isn't it out of order for the second son to marry before the eldest?"

"You mean you and Yeye should marry first?"

Shen Yu nodded solemnly: "Yes, that's the proper way."

Bai Ningxin smiled knowingly: "We don't have that custom on our side. Arui hasn't married, and Ruoshui already has."

    Shen Yu: !

    Damn, miscalculated!

But no matter—he thought on his feet: "Phoenix Mountain has that custom. It's normal for different places to have different traditions."

Shen Cun also wanted Shen Yu and Bai Yeye's matter settled as soon as possible, so he didn't call him out.

Long Shen sighed and patted Shen Yu on the shoulder: "Ayu, it's not that we're unwilling to give Yeye to you. It's that Ruoshui still hasn't woken up—we need him to see a wedding, at least. Arui and Yongyun's situation is special, so they have to marry early. You and Yeye can wait a bit longer. No rush."

With Long Shen putting it that way, what could Shen Yu say? He could only slink off to sulk alone.

How could his meticulous plan have gone wrong like this!

Aaahhh, when on earth would he finally get to marry Yeye!
