Chapter 148: Bai Ruoshui × Bai Yuanzhou [Six]
by 犬夜叉烧包Chapter 148: Bai Ruoshui × Bai Yuanzhou "Six"
Everyone saw Bai Yuanzhou holding Bai Ruoshui and couldn't help but start hooting and hollering at them.
After calming down, Bai Yuanzhou realized he'd been a bit too forward and nervously let go: "Sorry, I, I was just too worried about you."
"It's fine, let's head up first in case it collapses again."
The two of them brought the unconscious soldiers to a safe area. Bai Ruoshui noticed Bai Yuanzhou's fingers were bleeding and quickly grabbed his hands to disinfect them.
"What happened?"
A young soldier quickly said, "When you heard the Prince was buried, you immediately jumped down to find him. Your hands got scraped by rocks, and you didn't even make a peep."
Bai Yuanzhou blushed and kicked him, signaling for him to scram.
Bai Ruoshui frowned slightly, had someone tend to the unconscious soldiers, and personally applied medicine to Bai Yuanzhou.
Bai Yuanzhou tucked his hands behind his back: "I'm fine, check yourself over for injuries first."
Although Bai Ruoshui looked fine on the outside, Bai Yuanzhou was worried he might have bruises from the rocks.
Bai Ruoshui said more firmly: "I'm fine, give me your hands."
Bai Yuanzhou obediently held out both hands to him.
"Your old wounds haven't healed and now you've got new ones. You really don't know how to look after yourself." Bai Ruoshui was both angry and distressed.
Bai Yuanzhou glanced at him cautiously: "I'm thick-skinned, a little injury doesn't matter."
As long as Bai Ruoshui wasn't hurt, he could handle anything.
Bai Ruoshui met his gaze: "But I don't want you to get hurt. I'd be really sad."
Bai Yuanzhou's heart skipped a beat, and he stammered, "I, I, I won't get hurt anymore. Don't be sad."
Bai Ruoshui bandaged both his hands and made him stay to rest, then led the soldiers to deal with the remaining poisonous insects.
In the evening, Bai Yuanzhou was like a doting little husband waiting for his alpha to come home, craning his neck at the entrance, eagerly waiting for Bai Ruoshui.
Bai Ruoshui was also thinking of him and hurried back to his side as soon as the battle ended.
Seeing Bai Ruoshui's figure appear, a smile spread across Bai Yuanzhou's face. He walked over from a distance and asked nervously, "You didn't get hurt, did you?"
"I didn't get hurt. Why aren't you inside resting?"
"I rested all afternoon and just came out for a stroll since I had nothing else to do."
The chatty young soldier popped up again: "Your Highness, you've been waiting here for Prince Ruoshui all afternoon."
And then Bai Yuanzhou kicked him away again.
When Bai Ruoshui heard this, his heart felt a little warm, but more than that, he was worried: "I told you to get some proper rest."
"Don't listen to him, I really did rest. You must be hungry, let's eat first." Bai Yuanzhou changed the subject.
Today his hands were wrapped up like mummies, so he couldn't cook for Bai Ruoshui and could only eat the dried food they'd brought along.
Bai Yuanzhou couldn't grip things well with his hands, so Bai Ruoshui tore the food into small pieces and fed him.
"You eat first, don't mind me." Bai Yuanzhou felt a bit embarrassed.
"We'll eat together." Bai Ruoshui tore off a small piece and fed him, then tore off another piece for himself.
This was the most delicious piece of dried food Bai Yuanzhou had ever eaten in his life!
"Drink some water, or it'll be too dry to swallow." Bai Ruoshui opened the water flask and carefully fed Bai Yuanzhou.
A drop of water trickled down the corner of Bai Yuanzhou's lips. Bai Ruoshui quickly set down the cup and reached out to wipe the water from his lips.
"Sorry, I was feeding you too fast."
"It's my fault!"
Bai Ruoshui smiled at him from up close: "Then let's eat a little more, okay?"
That one look nearly made Bai Yuanzhou's soul leave his body: "Okay."
Bai Ruoshui fed Bai Yuanzhou the way he fed Bai Yeye, nearly feeding him until he passed out.
That silly guy Bai Yuanzhou could really take it—if Bai Ruoshui didn't stop, he wouldn't stop either. In the end, he had to take a whole pack of digestive enzymes to settle his stomach.
Bai Ruoshui felt awful: "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry. I'm used to feeding my... I mean, our family's Samoyed."
"It's fine, I've got a big appetite anyway." Bai Yuanzhou would never blame him.
A soldier asked curiously, "Prince Ruoshui, how much can your Samoyed eat? Seven or eight pieces of dried food?"
They had no idea that a certain Yeye could eat over a hundred pieces.
Bai Ruoshui smiled sweetly: "A good appetite is a blessing. He's very small, so I want to plump him up a bit. If I get the chance, I'll introduce him to you all. He's super cute."
Bai Yuanzhou happily agreed: "Sounds good!"
After all the poisonous insects were wiped out, they gathered again in the imperial city.
Shen Yu listened to the soldiers reporting on the romantic developments between Bai Yuanzhou and Bai Ruoshui, and his head started to ache.
He felt that falling in love was way too much of a hassle. He really couldn't get caught up in that kind of mess.
The young soldier covered his sore butt and tried to take credit: "General, I followed your orders and went out every time to put in a good word for the Prince. Not only did he not appreciate it, he kicked me in the butt every time!"
Shen Yu comforted him: "You've worked hard. Your pay will be tripled this month. The extra amount can be taken out of my share."
"Thank you, General!" His sore butt felt comforted.
After Shen Yu sent him away, he went to find Bai Ruoshui alone.
"General Shen, is there something you wanted?" Bai Ruoshui's tone was very polite.
Shen Yu, as blunt as ever, asked, "Do you like Bai Yuanzhou?"
Bai Ruoshui was taken aback by his question, then his cheeks flushed slightly. Instead of answering, he asked in return, "Why is General Shen asking this?"
Did Yuanzhou send him to ask that?
"You can tell Bai Yuanzhou likes you, right? If you like him too, then hurry up and make a move. If you don't... then give him a chance anyway. Although he's been acting a bit crazy lately, he's actually a pretty good person."
Bai Ruoshui was quick to defend Bai Yuanzhou: "He's not crazy at all. Yuanzhou is wonderful and adorable."
"So you're saying you like him?"
"I..." Bai Ruoshui lowered his eyes, unconsciously clutching at his clothes.
He felt himself falling for him, but couldn't pinpoint exactly when it started. Maybe it was the first time he saw him risk himself to protect that rabbit, or every time he saw him show up blushing while bringing him things, or that time during the cave-in when he held him close.
"You do like him, right?" Shen Yu asked again, uncertain, thinking to himself how exhausting these two were—why couldn't they just say if they liked each other?
Since Bai Ruoshui was an omega, he did his best not to get annoyed.
Good thing he didn't lose his temper now, or he'd really be in a tight spot later.
Bai Ruoshui confirmed his feelings and gave a small nod. "Yes, I do like him, but I haven't figured out what to do next."
"If you like him, just be together. What else is there to do? Are you planning to drag this out forever?"
"No, I'm scared he doesn't like me."
Love makes you blind—even someone as perfect as Bai Ruoshui worried his crush might not like him back.
"After everything he's done, you still think he doesn't like you?" Shen Yu was incredulous. Bai Yuanzhou might as well have tattooed "I like Bai Ruoshui" on his face.
Bai Ruoshui shyly looked away. "Unless he says it himself, who can be sure?"
Shen Yu understood. "Alright, go on back and get some rest. I'll handle it."
He was dead set on getting this sorted out within the next two days.
