Their departure from the space was perfectly timed.
Mr. Si Meng had just arrived on horseback and was currently surveying the area.
The heavy rain had somewhat aided him.
As he left the city and entered the official road, he could still faintly see neat but muddy footprints and hoof marks. Mr. Si Meng was certain that these were left by the Sixth Brother of the Mo family and his entourage.
From the neatness of the tracks, he could tell that everything had gone smoothly up to this point.
Following the tracks, Mr. Si Meng reached this spot where they suddenly vanished. He dismounted to search for any clues.
Mo Jiuye and He Zhiran had barely appeared on the official road when they nearly collided with a white figure.
Mr. Si Meng, always alert, immediately threw a pouch of poison powder at them upon noticing something amiss.
He Zhiran reacted quickly, pulling Mo Jiuye back into the space.
In such an emergency, no one could guarantee avoiding the poisonous powder.
"Did you get a clear look at that person?" He Zhiran only saw a man in white, which seemed out of place in the rainy night.
Mo Jiuye shook her head: "No, it happened too fast. I didn't have time to see."
"Anyone searching there must be related to Sixth Brother and those drug-controlled people." This was He Zhiran's first thought.
"Ranran, let me go out again and take a closer look."
Having finally found a clue, Mo Jiuye did not want to give up easily.
He Zhiran agreed, and they covered their mouths and noses before reappearing outside the space.
They spent only a few seconds outside, but the white figure was nowhere to be seen. All they saw was an empty expanse and the pitch-black night.
The rain had stopped, no longer affecting Mo Jiuye's senses.
She listened carefully and was sure that the person had moved far away.
Mr. Si Meng was already on his way back to the Capital City.
The two people who had just appeared had the best lightness of movement he had ever seen, able to dodge his poison powder and vanish in the blink of an eye...
Encountering such skilled individuals, his only option was to run as far away as possible.
After Mo Jiuye's unsuccessful search, He Zhiran suggested: "The larva will seek out its mother larva once separated from its host. Why don't we release the larva and follow it?"
Though risky, they did not want to give up this small clue.
Whether the person they find is Mr. Si Meng or someone controlling Sixth Brother, avenging Sixth Brother would not be in vain.
"I agree. If the larva heads towards the border, we'll stop following. We can't be too far from the Capital City; we need to return before dawn to check on Fourth Brother and Seventh Brother."
He Zhiran concurred and retrieved the larva from the space.
Mo Jiuye had already wrapped her arm around He Zhiran's waist, ready to follow the larva closely.
Seeing Mo Jiuye prepared, He Zhiran opened the bottle, released the larva, and quickly handed the bottle to Mo Jiuye. If the larva headed in the wrong direction, she could recapture it quickly.
The larva flew towards the Capital City.
Mo Jiuye and her wife exchanged a glance and followed swiftly.
They chased the larva all the way to the outskirts of the Capital City, where it flew over the walls.
Mo Jiuye increased her speed to the maximum, both to avoid the guards' attention and to ensure she did not lose the larva.
They successfully crossed the wall without attracting any notice.
Following the larva over rooftops, they eventually saw it heading straight for the Palace.
The security around the Palace was much tighter than at the city gates. Mo Jiuye was unsure if she could follow the larva inside without being detected.
Therefore, as the larva approached the Palace, she quickly caught it and put it back in the bottle.
While this did not pinpoint the exact location of the larva's keeper, it confirmed that the person was within the Palace.
They could release the larva again once inside the Palace.
Although the rain had stopped, the sky remained overcast.
He Zhiran glanced at the large clock in the space; it was already one o'clock in the morning.
Logically, this was the perfect time to infiltrate the Palace, as most people should be asleep except for some guards.
"Should we go in now?" He Zhiran asked.
Mo Jiuye pondered for a moment and nodded firmly.
"Since we're here, we can't leave without investigating."
Agreeing, they circled around to an alley on the west side of the Palace.
Mo Jiuye found a hidden spot, picked up He Zhiran, and leaped over the wall.
The Palace of Southern Xinjiang was not unfamiliar to Mo Jiuye. Years ago, when she led her troops into the Capital City, she personally searched the national treasury.
Though he could not accurately describe the locations of each palace, he had a general idea.
The two of them avoided the patrolling soldiers and arrived at a heavily guarded area.
It seemed that due to the Crown Prince Residence's storeroom being emptied, there were many more guards than usual.
Mo Jiuye whispered, "This is the national treasury of Nanjiang. A bit further back is the private treasury of the Emperor of Nanjiang. I once visited both."
Back then, they had brazenly moved all the items from the storerooms.
Returning to this place again, Mo Jiuye felt a slight sense of anticipation.
He wondered what kind of wealth Nanjiang might have accumulated after a few years.
Mo Jiuye did not plan to enter through the main entrance of the treasury. Instead, he led He Zhiran to the side, where the guards were relatively fewer.
Even so, there were still guards every few steps.
The supply of the sedative made from the silver ring snake was running low, and He Zhiran hesitated to use it unless absolutely necessary, given the scarcity.
Especially with the numerous guards present, the limited amount of sedative would be ineffective.
He Zhiran decisively took out two crossbows from her space.
Fortunately, there were two windows behind the storeroom, guarded by four men in total. Each of them would take care of two, and they needed to act quickly without being noticed.
She also prepared for failure; if they failed, she would pull Mo Jiuye into her space for safety.
Luckily, neither of them missed. In the blink of an eye, four light arrows struck the guards' foreheads.
Mo Jiuye swiftly moved forward, dragging the bodies to a hidden spot and removing the arrows from their foreheads, leaving no trace behind.
After handling everything, they broke through the window and entered.
Inside the national treasury of Nanjiang, it was not as rich as during the Great Shun dynasty.
Of course, this was related to Nanjiang's geographical environment and national strength. More importantly, it had been raided by Mo Jiuye and his group a few years ago.
In just a few short years, it was impressive that they had managed to accumulate such wealth again.
