Chapter 435: How Did It Become Private Property?

The two burly attendants standing at the entrance moved closer, their stance clearly indicating that if the guest dared to say anything more, they would take action.

Seeing this, the guest indeed became intimidated. The few people in front of him all seemed like individuals he couldn't afford to provoke. He struggled to stand up, brushed off the dust from his clothes, and left in a hurry.

The attendants quickly returned to their original positions.

Mo Jiuye and Mo Chuhan exchanged a glance.

"Eight Brother, let's go check out another Jin Fresh Building."

Mo Chuhan nodded, and the two mounted their horses and left.

The other Jin Fresh Building was relatively better, but only in terms of the attendants' attitudes. The decor was almost identical to the first one they visited.

There were also very few guests inside, and their expressions while eating did not seem pleasant.

Mo Jiuye gestured to Mo Chuhan, "Eight Brother, let's go in and sit down."

The brothers entered the hall, and it took quite a while for an attendant to come and serve them.

Mo Jiuye chose a seat by the window and casually ordered two dishes.

Both Mo Jiuye and Mo Chuhan were martial artists, so their hearing was naturally sharp.

While waiting for their food, the brothers heard the synchronized footsteps of about a dozen people coming from the direction of the kitchen.

Mo Jiuye could tell that these footsteps belonged to martial artists.

To avoid alerting anyone, the brothers did not immediately investigate but continued to wait for their food as if nothing was amiss.

Despite this, they remained attentive to the sounds coming from behind.

By the time the attendant brought the dishes to the table, the footsteps had gradually faded away.

The brothers had no interest in eating. They mimicked the other guests, taking a few casual bites and then made a show of being dissatisfied before paying and leaving.

Once outside, they headed straight for the back courtyard of the Jin Fresh Building, where the kitchen was located, and the sounds had come from.

This establishment was a standalone building, with the main entrance facing the main road, which also served as one wall of the courtyard.

The other three sides were enclosed by walls about a person's height, with a side gate on the west side.

As the brothers rounded the western side of the courtyard, a man dressed in the same attire as the attendants stepped forward to block their path.

"This is private property. Unauthorized persons should take a detour."

    Mo Jiuye deliberately feigned ignorance.

"This is clearly just an alley. How did it become private property? We want to pass through here. Do you mean we have to take a detour?"

Seeing that his words had no effect, the man became visibly impatient.

"I said this is Jin Fresh Building's territory, and it is. Get lost."

The more he said this, the more determined the brothers were to investigate.

Mo Chuhan had already moved in front of Mo Jiuye and strode into the alley.

"I'm going through here. What are you going to do about it?"

As he spoke, the brothers had already taken several steps forward, closing the distance to the attendant who was trying to drive them away.

Seeing that these two were stubborn, the attendant became furious.

"Get lost right now. This isn't a place for you. If you dare take another step, don't blame me for getting rough."

In just a few words, the attendant revealed his true colors.

He suddenly pulled out a short whip from somewhere and pointed it at the brothers, shouting angrily.

    "Leave immediately."

Mo Chuhan was always quick to anger, especially when dealing with someone who might be an adversary. How could he back down?

Before he could make a move, three or four more men dressed like the attendant emerged from the courtyard behind him, surrounding the brothers.

Without a word, these men prepared to attack.

Mo Jiuye and Mo Chuhan were faster. As their fists came flying, the brothers struck simultaneously.

With four hands, they firmly grabbed the four fists coming at them.

A series of crisp snaps echoed, and all four attendants' wrists broke.

Perhaps these four men had underestimated their opponents, thinking that scaring a couple of ordinary civilians would be enough to drive them away.

They didn't expect that these two were also martial artists, and the way they broke their wrists in one move clearly showed that their skills were superior.

If they were ordinary people, the broken wrists would have caused them to scream in agony.

However, these attendants did not. After exchanging glances, they each drew a dagger from their waist with their uninjured hand and aimed at Mo Jiuye and Mo Chuhan.

At the same time, people inside the courtyard seemed to have heard the commotion and began to emerge.

These people were not dressed like attendants; they all wore gray short jackets, resembling the guards of a wealthy household.

Holding gleaming large knives, they saw the situation outside and raised their weapons, aiming at Mo Jiuye and Mo Chuhan.

The two brothers had seen such scenes many times before and felt no fear.

In an instant, the large knives were swung at them in unison.

Mo Jiuye and Mo Chuhan calmly dodged backward, then leaped behind those people, and in the blink of an eye, they had kicked everyone to the ground.

The servant who had just driven them away shouted loudly toward the courtyard.

    "Quick, someone is causing trouble."

Immediately, over a dozen people jumped out from within the courtyard walls and attacked the two brothers together.

From their fighting techniques, Mo Jiuye and Mo Chuhan could tell that these people were not ordinary; they were far more skilled than the knife-wielding men earlier.

Despite this, the Mo brothers quickly defeated them.

However, facing such skilled opponents, the brothers did not find the fight easy.

From their lethal moves, it was clear that these assassins were similar to those kept by the nobles in the Imperial City.

Especially since Jin Fresh Building was a property of the Xue family, their intentions in Northwest were dubious, and sending some assassins was not surprising.

Just as the brothers were thinking, one of the subdued assassins had already bitten into the poison in his mouth and died with blood gushing from his seven orifices.

"Not good, Eight Brother, hurry, we need to keep some alive."

Mo Chuhan also reacted, and the two brothers moved together, each grabbing an assassin and tightly pinching their cheeks to prevent them from biting into the poison sacs.

With their cooperation, they managed to save the lives of two assassins.

The servant who had been threatening the brothers was now terrified, moving backward step by step.

The other servants, dressed as household guards, were similarly stunned, staring at the brothers in disbelief, completely at a loss.

Mo Chuhan stepped forward, quickly unfastened their waistbands, tied them up, and gagged their mouths. He then carried the bodies of the dead assassins along with the bound men and threw them all through the side door into the courtyard.

After all, this was a bustling alley in a busy street, and if they lingered too long, it would surely attract the attention of passersby.

Although they were still unsure about the situation in the back of Jin Fresh Building, they couldn't just openly interrogate them there.
