Chapter 416: Where Exactly Are You Unwell?

Mo Jiuye quickly ran over, reaching out to pull Fifth Brother up.

Once on the ground, Fifth Brother slumped to the floor.

His entire body was pitch black, and Mo Jiuye couldn't tell where he was injured, so he asked, "Fifth Brother, how are you?"

Fifth Brother shook his head and pointed to the deep pit behind him, saying, "I'm fine. Eldest Brother and Second Brother are still down there. Try to get them out."

Mo Jiuye glanced into the deep pit. If not for his keen eyesight, he wouldn't have been able to see the two figures lying sprawled out below.

He leaped into the pit. The two elder brothers were unrecognizable, their faces and bodies covered in dirt and grime.

He approached one of them, hoisted him onto his back, and leaped out again.

Repeating the same action, Mo Jiuye finally managed to rescue both elder brothers.

At this point, the two elder brothers were in poor condition. Though their bodies were covered in black, traces of blood could be seen.

    Fortunately, their breathing was steady.

Just as Mo Jiuye was about to try to wake them, he heard a heavy thud beside him.

The previously unconscious person, jolted by the fall, regained consciousness.

Third Brother was in such pain that he almost fainted again, and with a severe headache, he passed out once more after just a moment of clarity.

Seeing this scene, Mo Jiuye felt overwhelmed.

Fifth Brother was in the best condition among the brothers.

Though he felt dizzy, his body had not sustained any serious injuries.

The others were not so fortunate. Mo Jiuye had already checked their breathing; while they didn't seem to be in immediate danger, they had various injuries.

Most importantly, according to Fifth Brother, when the explosion occurred, they were all fully engrossed in their research and had no defenses in place.

The explosion caught them completely off guard.

Even if they had been prepared, it's unlikely they could have withstood the force of the gunpowder explosion.

They were instantly thrown high into the air, their heads colliding with unknown objects before they fell heavily into the deep pit.

Third Brother was directly hurled into a tree ...

Fifth Brother had recovered significantly. Although he still felt some pain, having experienced countless battles, he didn't take these minor injuries seriously.

    He struggled to stand up.

"Nine, should we take the elder brothers back to Nine Sister now?"

Mo Jiuye agreed. The elder brothers currently appeared to have only superficial injuries, but given their unconscious state, it was clear they had internal injuries. However, neither he nor Fifth Brother could determine the exact nature of those injuries.

    "Fifth Brother, can you manage?"

To carry Third Brother, who was unconscious, down the mountain, Mo Jiuye alone would not suffice.

Even if Fifth Brother could help, at most, each of them could carry one brother.

That meant one brother would have to stay behind.

This person had to be the least injured.

Although Mo Jiuye had learned some medical knowledge from He Ziran, he wasn't skilled enough to assess the severity of their injuries in this situation.

Reluctantly, he gently shook the elder brothers, hoping they would wake up so he could ask them about their conditions.

In fact, the three elder brothers were not entirely unconscious; they were just too dazed to open their eyes.

Shaken by Mo Jiuye, they all showed some response.

Eldest Brother weakly said, "Nine, I'm fine. Take Second and Third down the mountain first."

"Eldest Brother, feel your body. Where exactly are you unwell?" Leaving Eldest Brother here temporarily was not a problem, but Mo Jiuye needed to confirm his condition.

"I just feel dizzy and nauseous, and my body hurts."

With Eldest Brother's answer, Mo Jiuye looked at Fifth Brother.

"Fifth Brother, let's take Second and Third down the mountain first."

"Alright." Fifth Brother agreed and prepared to carry Third Brother.

Mo Jiuye carried Second Brother, and just as they were about to leave, they heard footsteps approaching.

Since the Mo family bought this mountain, dogs guarded the area, and no outsiders had ever come here.

Therefore, Mo Jiuye wasn't overly worried, but he kept carrying Second Brother and prepared to see who was coming.

Sixth Brother, due to his rapid ascent, was slightly flushed.

He had heard the commotion and gone to Nine Brother's courtyard to inquire. He Ziran, concerned that something serious might have happened on the mountain and that Mo Jiuye might need help, urged him to hurry up the mountain.

As for the others, because the gunpowder research on the mountain was a major secret, He Ziran did not want to involve more people, even though he was anxious.

When Sixth Brother reached Mo Jiuye, all he saw was a scene of chaos and Fifth Brother and Nine Brother each carrying a 'charcoal' figure.

"Fifth Brother, Nine Brother, what exactly happened?"

Seeing that the visitor was his own brother, Mo Jiuye didn’t bother with too many explanations.

"Sixth Brother, you came just in time. Quickly, carry Eldest Brother; we need to go down the mountain to find Ranran."

Although Sixth Brother didn’t get the answer he wanted, he could tell from Ninth Brother’s slightly hurried voice that something serious must have happened.

Moreover, he was well aware of what the brothers were doing on the mountain. He had heard Ninth Brother mention before that developing this kind of weapon was very risky, and there was a chance it could explode, endangering their lives.

Without a word, Sixth Brother stepped forward and carried Eldest Brother, then followed Mo Jiuye as they quickly made their way down the mountain.

On the way, Sixth Brother seized the opportunity to ask, "Ninth Brother, what exactly happened?"

Mo Jiuye couldn’t provide a detailed answer and passed the question to Fifth Brother.

Fifth Brother clearly felt some shame.

"It’s all my fault for not stopping Second Brother in time.

Today’s research went smoothly. I saw that the product looked similar to the description you gave me, and in my excitement, I said it should be a success."

At this point, Mo Jiuye began to understand. His wife had mentioned before that gunpowder would ignite upon contact with fire once it was successfully made.

"Fifth Brother, did you light a fire to verify if it was successful?"

"It was Second Brother. When he heard me say that, he immediately lit a fire stick. By the time I tried to stop him, it was too late..."

Fifth Brother was somewhat frustrated. The explosion just now indeed proved that the gunpowder had been successfully developed.

However, this explosion destroyed all the gunpowder, leaving no chance for further research.

Fortunately, he had memorized the proportions of the ingredients, so it wouldn’t be difficult to recreate it.

The brothers moved swiftly down the mountain, using their lightness kung fu. Before long, they reached the foot of the mountain.

Mo Jiuye initially wanted to take his injured brother directly home, but he was concerned that the sight of his brothers’ injuries might shock his mother-in-law. Therefore, he decided to take them to Fifth Brother’s courtyard.
