Chapter 13 No, I'm Going to Develop Romantic Tendencies

Meng Ci didn't continue watching them; as long as tomorrow passed, everyone would be living in fear.

Li Shanyang and those few who feared death wouldn't dare to go out anymore.

Arriving at the kitchen, Meng Ci cooked a pot of century egg and lean meat congee. After serving himself a bowl, he packed the rest into disposable containers and stuffed them into his storage space.

He then fried an egg, added two sausages, reheated the leftover dishes from last night, and thus completed his breakfast.

After eating and drinking his fill, Meng Ci continued examining the map to see if there was anything else he needed from nearby shops.

    "Knock knock knock."

Hearing the knocking on the door, Meng Ci turned off the TV and cautiously looked outside.

He saw Shen Que standing outside, drenched and dripping water from his hair.

"What's this?" Meng Ci opened the door, surprised.

Was this person masochistic? He got soaked yesterday and did it again today?

Shen Que handed Meng Ci a plastic bag. "I checked the forecast; it’s going to rain for several days."

"Yesterday, I noticed you didn’t have much food, so these are for you."

Meng Ci tightened his grip on the door. Having been an orphan since childhood, he had never been cared for like this before. It was hard not to be moved.

"No need. Keep it for yourself. If I run out of food later, I’ll figure something out."

With such heavy rain outside, how did this person manage to buy anything?

Although he was deeply touched, he didn't need it.

    "Just take it."

After saying that, Shen Que directly shoved the items into Meng Ci's hands and pushed open the door next to him, entering his own home.

Meng Ci could only bring the items back inside. They were just a few packets of instant noodles, two bundles of dried noodles, and a bag of potatoes.

Though the items were few, it was still impressive to get them in such weather!

    Oh no!

I’m going to develop romantic tendencies!

    No way!

Meng Ci got up, packed everything, and stuffed them into a corner of his storage space, adhering to the principle of out of sight, out of mind.

If I keep reading, my romantic tendencies will be hard to suppress.

Then Meng Ci entered an empty bedroom, brought out a treadmill from the space, put on headphones to listen to music, and began to run.

In the apocalyptic times, a robust constitution is essential, and exercise is naturally indispensable.

So, in addition to purchasing twenty treadmills, Meng Ci also bought dumbbells, exercise bikes, yoga mats, resistance bands, and other fitness equipment.

After running non-stop for half an hour, Meng Ci finally came to a halt, sitting down on the yoga mat and began to massage her legs.

Outside, the rain was pouring down heavily.

Television news and radio broadcasts have begun to report that there will be heavy rainfall for the next several days, advising everyone to stay at home if possible.

In the group chat on the phone, in Meng Ci's classmate group, there are still people who are happy about not having to go to school because it's raining.

Seeing this, Meng Ci thought that his future should be even happier.

For at least the next decade, forget about going to school; you won't even need to touch a book.

Outside the window, it appears that someone, likely out of food at home, huddles together with a few others, attempting to make their way out, while the rainwater has already reached above their knees.

A person, whether tripped or misstep, fell to the ground, nearly swept away by the flood.

Fortunately, the people with him didn't give up on him; they pooled their strength and managed to lift him up.

Meng Ci recalls that there is a supermarket right at the entrance of the residential area, so people don't have to travel far to shop.

In the surveillance footage, after Li Xiaoya and the others woke up, they looked outside to see that the rain showed no signs of stopping.

One by one, they all looked worried and distressed. Li Shanyang, because he didn't cover himself with a blanket last night, sneezed several times in a row.

There's no food here; Liu Jie and the others are trapped, which is definitely not viable.

So Li Shanyang took turns calling Meng Ci, but Meng Ci didn't answer any of the calls.

The rain was heavier than Meng Ci had imagined. Just now, when Meng Ci saw the scene outside, Li Shanyang and the others also saw it.

In this case, I'm afraid those few who cherish their lives will be even less likely to venture out easily.

So there's no fear that they will leave.

Ignoring the phone, Meng Ci, after resting well, took out an electric pasta machine from his space.

Then, after mixing a batch of dough, I used the pasta machine to press out fresh noodles, leaving only two portions out, and stored the rest in the space.

Meng Ci stir-fried another dish of shredded potatoes, hesitated for a long time while looking at the noodles, before finally opening the door and knocking on Shen Que's door.

    "Is there something you need?"

Shen Que had changed into a new outfit, a white short-sleeved shirt that was filled to the brim with his pectoral muscles.

"I made some noodles, do you want to eat?"

Meng Ci swallowed hard. Today's meal would serve as thanks for the two deliveries Shen Que had made; he wouldn't open the door for him again after this.

    "Eat."

Without any hesitation, Shen Que immediately agreed.

He went in to grab his keys and, wearing flip-flops, entered Meng Ci's house with him.

The water was already boiling, and the noodles were cooked in no time.

Each of them scooped a bowl, topped with shredded potatoes, making a simple dish of potato noodle stir-fry. With the chili oil Meng Ci had prepared, it tasted delicious.

The two ate quietly, and afterward, Shen Que took the initiative to wash the dishes.

"Thank you for the things you brought, but there's no need for you to do it anymore."

"You should keep them for yourself. After all, we don't know when this rain will stop."

When Meng Ci saw Shen Que out, he said.

    "Alright."

Shen Que paused for a moment before entering.

Meng Ci leaned against the door, sighing deeply.

    "What a pity!"

"If not for the apocalypse, he would have pounced on someone so compatible long ago."

In the real world, Meng Ci had been too busy earning money to have time for dating.

Now, in the book, he had money but couldn't afford to date because he needed to stay alive.

After feeling sentimental for a while, Meng Ci sat down on the sofa and started munching on sunflower seeds.

On the surveillance, Liu Jie was drenched, suggesting he had tried to go out earlier but likely failed.

It was now past two in the afternoon, and the four people must have been starving. They finally remembered the food Meng Ci had brought yesterday.

They had no concept of inventory, so they didn't notice anything missing. There were only a few vegetables left and two cups of rice, which Zhang Lu cooked all at once.

While cooking, Zhang Lu couldn't resist and ate several mouthfuls along the way.

When the food was served, each person barely got half a bowl of rice, leading to a heated scramble.

Seeing this, Meng Ci shook his head. He had thought these four were united, but it seemed they were already bickering. It would be easier to deal with them than he had imagined.

Around three o'clock, Meng Ci called them back.

"Meng Ci, can you come pick us up or not!"

"If you can't come, send someone to bring us some food!"

"We're stuck here because of you. If you don't come, you'll regret it."

On the other end of the phone, everyone was berating Meng Ci.

Meng Ci chuckled lightly, "Sorry, I can't help it. I can't contact anyone right now."

"I haven't eaten since yesterday!" As he said this, Meng Ci slurped a passion fruit.

    Mmm, delicious!

"I don't care, you figure something out."

"I'm your father. If you don't solve this, I'll break your leg when the rain stops."

Meng Ci slurped another passion fruit, and someone on the other end finally noticed and asked if he was eating!

Meng Ci denied it, "No, I'm so hungry I'm just drinking water."

Li Shanyang and the others didn't suspect anything, as they had been drinking water all morning.

"Who cares if you're hungry, hurry up and figure something out."
