Chapter 118: Sure, You Fight with Eggplant

    "Quickly open the door!"

Upon reaching the fourteenth floor, Li Qiang and the man in the cap still attempted to struggle, but Meng Ci directly shouted at them.

    "Yes."

Li Qiang reluctantly pulled out the key from his pocket and opened the door.

Letting Li Qiang and the man in the cap enter the house first, Shen Que, Meng Ci, and Eggplant followed closely behind.

    Bang!

Shen Que, who was walking behind, pushed the security door shut.

Li Qiang and the man in the cap, like frightened birds, were terrified by the sound.

The man in the cap didn't dare delay and hurried to the living room, threw himself beside the sofa, and rummaged under it, quickly pulling out five cans of cockroach preserves.

"Here, here!" The man in the cap stuttered, his hands shaking uncontrollably as he held the cans.

    Clatter.

The man's trembling hands caused the cans to drop one after another onto the ground.

    "Sorry, sorry!"

Li Qiang and the man in the cap apologized repeatedly, squatting down to pick up the cans in panic.

Meng Ci took one can, pulled the ring tab, and a strange smell wafted out. Three large, black-red cockroaches came into view.

These cockroaches, washed by rainstorms and acid rain, had grown significantly; just three filled the can.

The flavors ranged from mildly spicy to numbingly spicy, and even included a three-flavored variety.

"Brothers, you've got what you wanted."

"When, when are you leaving?" The man in the cap stuttered, asking.

Meng Ci squatted down and placed the three-flavored cockroach can in front of Eggplant.

Eggplant sniffed it and then began eating voraciously.

Seeing them feed the can to an animal, Li Qiang and the man in the cap widened their eyes, cursing inwardly about wasting food and wishing they hadn't given it to them.

"What, don't want us to stay here?" Meng Ci looked up and asked.

    "No, no!"

"You brothers can stay as long as you want," Li Qiang hurriedly said.

    "You brothers, want some water?"

"I'll go boil some hot water for you."

    "No need."

Meng Ci stood up, sighed, and shook his head.

"I originally wanted you to see more of this beautiful world, but since you don't want to, never mind!"

"What do you mean... by that?"

The man in the cap, standing closer to Meng Ci, had barely finished his question when he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen.

    He clutched his stomach, disbelieving.

    "You..."

"It means nothing." Meng Ci said casually, then pulled the long knife out of the man's abdomen.

The man in the cap lost his balance and fell to the ground, his eyes wide open, filled with disbelief and resentment, staring fixedly at Meng Ci.

    But Meng Ci wasn't afraid.

In the apocalypse, not killing meant being killed.

When he found out these two had broken into his place, Meng Ci decided they wouldn't leave alive.

Leaving roots uncut invites future trouble.

At the start of the apocalypse, Meng Ci only injured those who challenged him, but they kept coming back.

Li Ping, Deng Yang, and Su Jie were all examples.

And these two showed blatant greed in their eyes.

Sparing them would only bring trouble later.

So, a single fatal blow was best.

Seeing Meng Ci kill the man in the cap without hesitation, Li Qiang was terrified.

Even though Li Qiang was wearing thick cotton clothes, Meng Ci and Shen Que could still smell urine in the air.

Eggplant, with its keen sense of smell, showed clear disgust on his face.

    "Brothers, spare my life!"

"I will serve you both as a cow and a horse in the future."

Li Qiang knelt down in panic, kowtowing repeatedly.

Meng Ci nodded again, "Sparing your life is possible!"

Li Qiang's forehead was already red, and upon hearing this, he lifted his head, filled with hope.

But soon, Meng Ci's words plunged him back into despair.

"Eggplant has been too energetic lately, so I want you to play with it for a while."

"Once it's satisfied, you can leave."

Li Qiang looked at the white wolf in front of him, its tongue lolling out, and understood that Meng Ci meant for him to be Eggplant's sparring partner.

He might accidentally end up dead in the jaws of the white wolf.

But to survive, he had to fight.

This was a lesson he had learned after living through the apocalypse for so long.

So Li Qiang stood up, facing death with resolve: "Alright."

Shen Que pushed aside the coffee table in the living room and moved the firewood and other clutter to the corner. Li Qiang and Eggplant stood in the center of the living room, becoming the main characters.

    "Eggplant, go for it!"

"If you can knock him down, you get chicken legs tonight." Meng Ci began to motivate Eggplant.

At the mention of chicken legs, Eggplant's eyes lit up, and with a mighty howl, it lunged at Li Qiang.

Eggplant was robust and jumped directly onto Li Qiang, pinning him to the ground, its claws scratching fiercely at him.

The attack was swift and merciless.

Soon, five deep and shallow scratch marks appeared on Li Qiang's face.

Li Qiang endured the pain on his face, struggling with all his might to push Eggplant off.

Eggplant was now 1.3 meters long and weighed over forty kilograms. It had only been trained by Shen Que and hadn't fought anyone before, so although it was fast, it lacked technique.

As a result, Eggplant was quickly pushed to the ground by Li Qiang.

And Li Qiang had already grabbed Eggplant by the neck, his eyes fierce.

Meng Ci was worried that Eggplant might get hurt and picked up the blood-stained long knife from the sofa, ready to intervene.

    Shen Que held his hand.

    "Wait, trust Eggplant."

Meng Ci could only hold back.

In the future, Eggplant might encounter people even stronger than Li Qiang; he couldn't protect it forever.

    "Eggplant, go for it!"

    "Think about the chicken legs."

"If you lose, no more meat for you."

    Aowu!

No meat was not an option.

Eggplant howled loudly, its voice powerful.

Li Qiang was momentarily frightened, and his grip loosened slightly.

Eggplant seized the opportunity, twisting its head and biting Li Qiang's wrist.

    "Ouch!"

"Damn it, you beast, you dare bite me!"

Li Qiang released Eggplant's neck with one hand and slapped its head hard with the other.

    "You beast, let go."

    "Or I'll kill you."

When Li Qiang was almost exhausted from his rage, Eggplant released its bite and pounced, knocking Li Qiang to the ground!

With a howl, it bit at Li Qiang's neck.

    "Help, save me!"

Li Qiang's injured hand was weak, and he couldn't push Eggplant away, so he looked desperately at Meng Ci and Shen Que for help.

Meng Ci ignored Li Qiang and said to Shen Que, "I think you're right; Eggplant's bite strength isn't that impressive."

"It bit his wrist for so long and only left such a small wound."

Shen Que replied, "We can get some bones for Eggplant to gnaw on."
