Chapter 11: Confrontation
byChapter 11: Confrontation
Ji Jing didn't head straight home. Instead, he drove his hovercar to an empty area on the outskirts and got out, wearing the powered exoskeleton. He ran and jumped around in circles.
It was like the joyful energy of a stone monkey just born.
After getting a good grasp of how to use the powered exoskeleton, he reluctantly got back into the hovercar and returned to the inner city.
Overall, although this trip didn't yield any evidence of Eugene's crimes, it was still quite fruitful.
Ji Jing's good mood lasted only until he reached the front door.
As soon as he stepped inside, he saw Eugene's face, swollen like a pig's head.
The wrist Ji Jing had broken earlier had already healed, but the new injuries on his face were likely inflicted by Ed, who was emitting a low-pressure aura nearby.
Ji Jing sighed inwardly: "The medical technology in this era is too advanced. A broken bone heals overnight in a treatment pod. What a pity."
What made Ji Jing even more disgusted was that upon seeing him, Eugene immediately glared with malice and said to Ed, who was glaring menacingly, "Brother, believe me, I didn't do anything to your wife. It was him who seduced me."
"You're always away, and his heat periods have become more frequent. Just yesterday, he went into heat in public. You can see how desperate he is."
Ji Jing was almost laughing in anger.
But when he looked at Ed, the Alpha with a brain connected directly to his gut actually believed it and looked at Ji Jing with suspicion.
Ji Jing sneered, "I seduced you? I'd rather seduce Dad. He may be old, but at least he's an Alpha. What about you?"
"A dead pervert who can't get it up without drugs!"
With that, he shifted his gaze to Ed.
"Look at that pimp-like face of yours. Eager to wear the green hat others hand to you, huh? Are you afraid your head will catch a cold?"
Ed stood up abruptly, so angry that it seemed flames were shooting from his nostrils.
"What did you say!!!"
Ji Jing impatiently replied, "You keep saying the same thing. What did I say? What did I say? Is there something wrong with your ears or your brain? If your ears are bad, get them fixed; if your brain is bad, donate it to someone who needs it."
"You believe everything Eugene says. Why don't you investigate his secret trips to the underground city to buy illegal drugs? Did I make him do that to harm me?"
"I told you the evidence yesterday, but you didn't bother to check. How dare you yell at me here?"
"I wonder how you became Colonel Grace. Was it because you can shout 'What did you say'?"
Ed was left speechless, vaguely remembering that when he asked about Eugene's whereabouts yesterday, Ji Jing did mention that Eugene had switched his suppressants.
But so much happened yesterday—his father beating his mother to the hospital, and Ji Jing claiming he was pregnant...
Only later did Ed realize that Ji Jing not only claimed he was pregnant but also said it was the first day, and it would take some time to confirm.
Who could know they were pregnant on the first day?
Even the most advanced medical equipment couldn't detect pregnancy until two weeks after conception.
So, what Ji Jing said was clearly nonsense.
Similarly, Ed automatically assumed the rest of Ji Jing's claims needed verification.
At that moment, Ji Jing added, "Also, you bear a lot of responsibility for what happened to me yesterday. If you had attended the banquet, would Eugene have dared to act recklessly in front of you?"
"Go check the surveillance footage from the banquet venue. See if my perverted brother followed me into the Omega restroom."
"Is he so illiterate that he doesn't recognize the word 'Omega'?"
Eugene panicked, "I... I was worried about your wife's condition..."
Ji Jing crossed his arms and sneered, "Worried enough to drive the hovercar at the slowest speed and start touching me in the car?"
"How many blue pills did you take? Are you overestimating your stamina?"
In the next instant, there was a loud thud as Eugene flew across the room.
Enraged, Ed kicked him, starting another round of beating Eugene.
Ji Jing didn't care about these brothers' squabbles. He grabbed a nutrient drink from the kitchen fridge and headed upstairs, sipping it along the way.
Even as Ji Jing lay in the bathtub soaking, Eugene's screams continued downstairs.
He treated it as background music.
He reached up to touch the small fox pendant around his neck and tried to talk to it.
"Silver Fox, who was your previous owner?"
The Silver Fox remained silent.
"Little fox, disobeying your master gets you a spanking. Listen to how loudly the guy downstairs is screaming."
The Silver Fox: ...
The Silver Fox: "You are not my master. My master's identity hasn't changed. You are just a temporary user."
Ji Jing laughed. After some exploration this afternoon, he discovered that the powered exoskeleton was highly intelligent.
When stored, it could be controlled through voice commands, and while in use, it responded to brain waves.
Moreover, despite being a small pendant and lightweight, it could extend into a full-powered exoskeleton and adjust according to the user's body shape.
The technology involved here is almost comparable to magic.
Although teasing an AI isn't very ethical, Ji Jing couldn't help but say with a twisted sense of humor, "Don't you remember? Your owner traded you for another necklace, he doesn't want you anymore. You belong to me now."
Silver Fox: "…"
If Silver Fox were more human-like, it would probably be crying from anger by now.
After teasing Silver Fox, Ji Jing's mood finally improved.
The Graces were still at the hospital, and Ailin was nowhere to be found.
After breaking Eugene's leg, Ed finally remembered that this was his own flesh and blood brother, so he reluctantly took him to the hospital.
That night, Ji Jing was the only one in the entire villa.
It felt unusually peaceful.
But when a new day arrived, this tranquility was quickly shattered.
Mrs. Grace had been discharged, though she looked terrible, as if she had aged a decade overnight.
Eugene, after a night of treatment, was back to his lively self.
When Ji Jing came downstairs, the Grace family was gathered together, looking like they were about to give him a thorough interrogation.
Ji Jing, facing their hostile or murderous gazes, walked straight into the kitchen and grabbed a nutrient solution.
Though the taste wasn't great, and he didn't particularly like it,
with a tough battle ahead, possibly even physical, he needed to replenish his energy first.
