Chapter 139: Going Mad
by 临光Chapter 139: Going Mad
Ji Jing smiled and greeted him. "Victor, hello. It's been a while."
But Victor frowned, his expression solemn. "Ji Jing, can you come with me to a certain place?"
Ji Jing instinctively glanced in the direction of the surveillance camera, a look of hesitation on his face. "Can't we just talk about it here?"
He knew Locke could be monitoring him at any time, so these past few days, even though he had the opportunity to walk out that door, he never did.
Because he needed to rebuild Locke's trust.
And now, Victor's invitation clearly threatened to shatter the fragile trust he had painstakingly built.
"There are some things that can't be explained directly. You'll only understand if you see it for yourself," Victor said.
Seeing how serious he was, Ji Jing hesitated. "Is it about Locke?"
Victor nodded, speaking earnestly. "Yes, I came for him. I don't think he can continue like this anymore, and you're the only one who can change him. Don't you have a saying in your culture, 'Only the one who tied the knot can untie it'? You are the one who tied the knot. Only you can save him."
Ji Jing was taken aback, then made his decision. "Alright, I'll go with you."
As he sat in Victor's flying car, Ji Jing thought it best to inform Locke in advance. He sent a message about his whereabouts.
Almost immediately, his light brain rang.
Ji Jing answered, and Locke's stern voice came through. "Don't go! Ji Jing, return to the house immediately!"
Ji Jing looked troubled. "Locke, I—"
"One hour," Victor interrupted, addressing both Ji Jing and Locke on the other end of the light brain. "After one hour, I'll bring you back."
"No! You can't! I forbid it!" Locke rejected firmly, his agitated tone filled with obsessive emotion, as if he couldn't hear any persuasion or explanation.
Hearing how worked up he was, Ji Jing tried to calm him down. "Locke, it's okay... I'll protect myself—"
But before he could finish, Victor reached over, cutting off Ji Jing's light brain communication and even turned it off.
Ji Jing was stunned, his mind racing with confusion: ???!
"He won't listen," Victor sighed deeply, simultaneously increasing the speed of the flying car. "For the past ten years, whenever anything involving you came up, he became completely irrational, like a man driven mad by obsession."
Ji Jing fell silent, his mood growing heavy.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at a place that looked familiar to Ji Jing—the martyrs' cemetery where Locke's parents were buried.
Confused, Ji Jing followed Victor to the gravestones of Locke's parents. Victor then pointed to a significantly newer gravestone and said, "See for yourself."
Ji Jing looked over, his pupils shrinking dramatically when he saw the names on the gravestone—
The names were none other than "Ji Jing" and "Locke Tang En."
The death date under "Ji Jing" was blank, but under "Locke Tang En," there was a date.
Victor explained to the shocked Ji Jing, "The date is from exactly two and a half months ago, which was the eighth day after you returned."
Ji Jing was speechless, his heart pounding as his eyes widened in shock.
Victor said, "We didn't know until today, when I discovered it. He had secretly erected this joint tomb. This is what he's been hiding from everyone."
Ji Jing opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. His eyes stung with tears, his throat tightened, and a sharp pain stabbed at his chest.
Viktor didn’t mince words. “This means that if you hadn’t returned, he was planning to end his life on the exact day of the tenth anniversary of your departure.”
Those words cut into Ji Jing’s heart like a knife, twisting deeper with each word, causing him such heartache that he could barely breathe.
“In the two months since you’ve been back, he appears to have gotten better, but it’s nowhere near enough. Ji Jing, haven’t you noticed? He’s sick. This illness can’t be cured by medical means because his sickness isn’t in his body, it’s in his heart,” Viktor finished with a sigh, his eyes slightly reddening.
Ji Jing covered his mouth, unable to hold back the tears that streamed down his face.
On the way back, Ji Jing kept silently crying. He knew that Luo Ke had psychological issues and that he lacked a sense of security, fearing that he would leave again, but he hadn’t realized that Luo Ke’s problems were this severe.
It was almost too late. Just a little more, and…
He didn’t dare to imagine what might have happened if he had returned any later. Would Luo Ke have already… ended his life?
As he escorted Ji Jing back to the house, Viktor bowed deeply to him, causing Ji Jing to step back in surprise.
“I’m sorry, Ji Jing. I shouldn’t have dragged you out today, nor do I have the right to ask anything of you, but as your cousin, I really couldn’t stand by and watch him like this. I know it’s selfish, but please, I’m begging you to help him.”
Having calmed his emotions, Ji Jing nodded and said, “Viktor, don’t worry. I’ll take care of him.”
But the next second, Ji Jing saw a massive white mech suddenly appear in the sky, plummeting towards the estate like a meteor.
The mech landed with a deafening boom, causing the ground to shake like an earthquake. The area where the mech touched down saw collapsed rocks, destroyed flowers and grass, and a spiderweb of cracks on the ground.
Fortunately, it hadn’t hit any of the important buildings in the estate, so it seemed the mech’s pilot still had some semblance of rationality, but not much.
The moment the cockpit door opened a crack, a familiar figure leaped out, charging straight towards Viktor.
At this moment, Luo Ke’s killing intent seemed almost tangible.
Unlike previous fights, this time, with just one punch, Luo Ke sent the unprepared Viktor flying more than ten meters away.
“Luo Ke!” Ji Jing exclaimed, rushing forward to intervene.
Seeing that Luo Ke seemed to have lost his rationality and was preparing to continue beating Viktor to death, Ji Jing quickly moved forward and hugged him from behind, using his immense mental strength to firmly restrain Luo Ke.
After nearly three months of recovery, Ji Jing’s strength had mostly returned, and subduing Luo Ke wasn’t difficult.
However, Luo Ke was still struggling with all his might, his eyes bloodshot, veins bulging on his forehead and neck, his entire being in a state of rage.
Due to the earlier earthquake and commotion caused by the mech, people who had been inside the house rushed out, staring at the scene in shock.
Out of the corner of his eye, Ji Jing spotted a few familiar figures, including the patriarch, Ji Tingyun, and little Vera.
Not wanting to confront Luo Ke in front of these people, Ji Jing forcibly dragged him towards the house.
“Let me go! Let me go! Let me go!”
Despite his struggles, Luo Ke couldn’t break free from Ji Jing’s restraint under the overwhelming mental pressure, but he seemed completely out of control, as if he might explode at any moment.
At that moment, Ji Jing suddenly realized that his previous methods might have all been wrong. He shouldn’t have used a soft approach on Luo Ke; instead, he needed to use something stronger.
So, as Luo Ke tightly clung to the doorframe, refusing to be dragged inside, Ji Jing took decisive action.
“Slap—”
A loud slap landed on Luo Ke’s face.
Then, not only did Luo Ke go quiet, but it felt like the entire world had frozen.
"Author’s Thoughts"
Luo Ke: I’m losing it! I’m screaming, I’m gonna knock everyone flying!
Ji Jing slaps him hard.
Instantly, Luo Ke: *now acting like a good boy*.
