Chapter 53: Rebuttal
by 临光Chapter 53: Rebuttal
Ji Jing was growing impatient. Regardless of Carol's hardships, he and Ed had indeed caused harm to the original host, so Ji Jing had no patience to offer hollow words of comfort.
He said indifferently, "Your hardships were meant to prove that Omegas are not inferior to Alphas, so you resorted to certain methods to disguise yourself as an Alpha and join the military, hoping to vindicate all Omegas through your own efforts."
"But unfortunately, you went into heat due to some unforeseen circumstances, either because your suppressant failed or was lost. At that time, Ed was the only Alpha around, and driven by instinct, you ended up with him."
"Afterward, though you wanted to distance yourself from Ed, you discovered you were unexpectedly pregnant, leaving you uncertain whether to keep the child or not."
"Until you found out that Ed was already married, feeling deceived and humiliated, you went to the hospital for an abortion and decided to work hard in the future, cutting ties with Ed, right?"
As Ji Jing spoke, Carol’s mouth opened wider and wider. After Ji Jing finished, he stared in disbelief for several seconds before asking, "H-How did you know?"
Could it be that Ed told Ji Jing?
That shouldn’t be the case. If Ed had said it, he would have known that his suppressant wasn’t just ineffective or lost but had been tampered with by someone.
Facing Carol’s incredulous gaze, Ji Jing shrugged, "Is it that hard to guess? The plot of most coming-of-age romance novels follows this pattern!"
Carol: "..."
Ji Jing continued, "To be frank, due to the difference in gender, Omegas’ physical conditions are indeed inferior to those of Alphas. Even if you are a rare exception with a physique comparable to an Alpha, you can't deny that the military’s rule against Omegas enlisting has its reasons."
"When you went into heat, there was only Ed around, but what if there had been several Alphas? What would have happened then?"
Carol remained silent, his face pale.
Ji Jing went on, "I’ve seen plenty of news reports where multiple Alphas fought over a heat-stricken Omega, leading to fatalities."
"Moreover, as an Alpha, you would have to go to the front lines. Have you considered what might happen if you suddenly went into heat during battle?"
"Wouldn’t it cause your fellow Alpha soldiers, who are supposed to fight together, to turn on each other for your sake?"
Carol’s face turned even paler, his lips trembling as he countered, "B-But... I’m very careful. I always inject my suppressant well before my heat cycle begins."
Ji Jing shrugged, "But accidents still happen."
Carol: "..."
After taking a deep breath, Carol finally spoke, "Then should no one stand up for Omegas? This society treats Omegas unfairly. They are treated as mere appendages to Alphas, existing solely to bear their children. They are taught from a young age how to serve Alphas and be good partners, but no one ever asks about their hobbies or dreams. You’re an Omega too; don’t you think this is humiliating and unfair?"
Ji Jing nodded, "Yes, you’re right."
Hope rose in Carol’s eyes, but the next moment, Ji Jing mercilessly doused it, "But you used the wrong method."
Carol stubbornly replied, "What’s wrong with my method? If I can prove I’m not weaker than an Alpha, it shows that Omegas can achieve the same as Alphas. How am I wrong?"
Ji Jing wagged his finger, "While I don’t know your true strength, if I were you and truly determined to take this path, I wouldn’t leave any room for doubt or retreat. I wouldn’t waver."
"You may speak grandly now, but before you found out Ed was married, didn’t you consider spending your life with him?"
Carol was speechless again, unable to deny it.
Ji Jing concluded, "So you see, you know deep down that you’re trying to have it both ways. Can a person really have everything? Isn’t it better to admit your flaws openly?"
With that, Ji Jing ended the video call, stretched lazily, and went upstairs to soak in the bathtub before going to bed.
Ji Jing didn’t know that Carol was left stunned for a long time, his face flushed with shame.
Indeed, he had chosen this path but left himself a way out and potential risks.
He had a relationship with Ed but hoped Ji Jing wouldn’t blame him.
Even if it all stemmed from Ed’s deception, wasn’t he also at fault?
At that moment, looking at Ji Jing’s openly posted pheromone sample test report on social media, Carol felt a sense of inadequacy.
Initially, he had felt superior, thinking he didn’t need to rely on an Alpha like Ji Jing and could do well on his own.
But now, it felt as if Ji Jing had slapped him from afar, his face burning.
Carol sat alone all night, and at dawn, he made a significant decision...
On the other side, Ji Jing slept soundly in Luo Ke’s bed.
When dawn broke, Luo Ke finally returned from the military headquarters.
Without waiting for Ji Jing to open his eyes, Luo Ke’s moist kisses covered him.
Then... Ji Jing wondered why Alphas had such stamina. Despite not resting for days, Luo Ke was still energetic in bed.
In contrast, Ji Jing, who had slept well, was exhausted again and didn’t get up, falling back asleep in Luo Ke’s arms.
In the following days, Luo Ke worked early mornings and late nights, reporting to the military during the day and returning home to enjoy meals cooked by Ji Jing in the evening.
After dinner, they would take Dahua for a walk nearby, then return home for an hour of combat training with Ji Jing.
They would shower and sleep together afterward.
This life perfectly matched Luo Ke’s expectations of marriage.
He even thought about secretly getting a marriage certificate with Ji Jing, planning to have a proper wedding after everything settled down.
Unbeknownst to him, a certain ungrateful succubus was already planning to leave Imperial Star, having even bought a ticket for a space flight to the Elven race.
