    Chapter 100

Evan's heart clenched. His training from childhood had taught him that he must not panic now. He took a deep breath, his chest heaving violently as he tried to calm his nerves. In an instant, his eyes became as sharp as a hawk's. Although his current profession granted him no special combat abilities, he mustn't forget this was also his dream. In theory, he should be omnipotent within his own dreamscape.

He raised his hand and swept it forward. Instantly, a searing flame materialized out of thin air, coiling like an agile, furious serpent. It tore through the air with a howl, lunging toward the nearest giant spider. The flames licked at the spider's rough carapace, emitting a sizzling sound that seemed to play a sinister melody of destruction.

The spider recoiled in pain, its eight long legs flailing wildly. A flash of ferocity lit its previously dull compound eyes as it charged toward Evan in a rage. Simultaneously, the other giant spiders seemed provoked. They brandished their long legs, spewing pungent sulfurous mist from their maws, and began to encircle Evan. In moments, he found himself at the center of a swirling vortex of black terror. Facing the tide of oncoming spiders, Evan's figure blurred, becoming a phantom-like shadow.

He deftly used the gaps between the giant spiders, dodging the first one's attack. Following through with a sideways roll, he slammed his hands down on the rough lunar surface. The ground instantly shimmered with an icy blue light. Immediately after, several sharp ice spikes erupted from the ground like swords, stabbing upward toward the spiders' abdomens.

The ice spikes clashed against the spiders' hard shells, producing crisp cracking sounds. Some spikes shattered upon impact, scattering across the ground, but a few managed to pierce through, wrenching pained shrieks from the spiders. The eerie cries echoed through the silent dream space, a chilling sound.

However, the spiders did not retreat. One spider, seizing the moment Evan was casting his spell, launched itself like a black cannonball. It opened its maw, lined with sharp fangs that glinted coldly in the dim light, and aimed for Evan's neck.

Evan reacted swiftly, tilting his head slightly to the side. The sharp fangs grazed his skin, leaving a shallow cut. A thin line of blood welled up, instantly evaporating in the dry lunar air. Seizing the opportunity, Evan pooled magic in his palm. The energy spun rapidly, forming a small vortex. He slammed his palm forcefully onto the spider's head. The magical shockwave hit like an invisible battering ram, instantly disorienting the spider. It lost its balance mid-air and crashed to the ground like a falling boulder, kicking up a cloud of dust and gravel.

The battle intensified. The spiders' attacks rained down on Evan like a dense storm. He nimbly evaded each assault, every dodge a brush with death. His clothes were torn by the spiders' long legs, and his hair was singed and curled from the sulfurous fumes. While dodging, he quickly strategized. He keenly observed that although these spiders possessed strong offensive power, their movements were relatively sluggish; their massive bodies seemed clumsy when in motion. Deciding to exploit his speed advantage, he adopted guerrilla tactics.

Wind blades began to swirl around him, resembling small, rotating blades that emitted a low humming sound. He seized the right moment, directing the wind blades like sharp blades toward the spiders. The blades sliced across the spiders' bodies, leaving shallow wounds. Though not fatal, the injuries further slowed the spiders' movements, making each step seem burdened by heavy shackles. As the battle wore on, Evan's strength was failing. Beads of sweat dotted his forehead, and his breathing grew labored and heavy.

Evan spotted a spider that had been knocked off-balance by a companion, exposing a vulnerable gap in its abdomen. Without hesitation, Evan charged forward, his footsteps leaving deep imprints on the lunar soil. Shining arrows of light materialized in his hands. With a loud shout, he swung his arms forcefully, launching the light arrows like shooting stars. They pierced straight through the spider's body. The spider let out a final wail, convulsed a few times, and then lay still, collapsing to the ground like a ruined black sculpture.

Seeing this, the remaining spiders seemed utterly enraged, their movements turning frenzied. They held nothing back, charging at Evan with reckless abandon. Evan was running on fumes; his steps grew unsteady, and each dodge felt increasingly strenuous.

Frowning, Evan immediately changed tactics. He formed a powerful shield around himself. The magical shield shimmered with a deep blue light, resembling an impenetrable eggshell. Then, he dashed swiftly toward the center of the spider horde, each step filled with determination and courage.

The spiders, thinking Evan was making a desperate last stand, closed in around him. Their long legs interwove, as if weaving a black net of death. Just as they drew near, Evan abruptly detonated the shield. A violent magical shockwave, like a colossal tidal wave, erupted with a deafening roar, flinging the surrounding spiders off their feet. Gravel and dust were swept up by the powerful force, creating a hazy cloud in the air. Seizing this opportunity, a sly smile touched Evan's lips. In the next second, he vanished from the spot, escaping the spiders' encirclement.

"It actually worked." In the blink of an eye, Evan reappeared on the opposite side of the moon. A wave of elation washed over him; it felt as if he had discovered the key to navigating this dream labyrinth.

In this fantastical, dreamlike space, whatever he willed could materialize with a mere thought. As one of the masters of this dream, Evan seemed to possess boundless magical power, able to transform at will into a formidable warrior with various supernatural abilities—as if he were immersed in an exhilarating, large-scale holographic game.

Evan looked down at his body. The numerous wounds from the fierce battle with the giant spiders were a stark sight, and his tattered clothes fluttered pathetically in the wind. He narrowed his eyes slightly, and his thoughts shifted once more. Instantly, a miraculous change occurred: the terrifying wounds vanished as if erased by an invisible eraser, and his previously ragged clothes smoothed out and restored themselves to a pristine, brand-new state.

Witnessing this, Evan's lips curved into a slight smile. He let out a light, easy whistle. The crisp sound echoed in the dream's silence. He couldn't help but marvel: this dream world was truly full of wonder and amusement.
