Chapter 140
by 天涯无居客Chapter 140
"A storage-type supernatural item," the silver-masked guest's voice, filtered through the mask, carried a slightly raspy, mechanical quality, yet was exceptionally clear. "The internal space is approximately one cubic meter, capable of holding quite a lot. Most importantly, it can lighten stored items by 80% and completely isolate their scent—whether it's weapons with a bloody smell or supernatural ingredients prone to emitting odors, without leaking a single trace."
As he spoke, he opened the briefcase and pulled out a metal water flask that was clearly twice the size of the case itself. The flask looked heavy, yet he held it effortlessly, proving the 'weight reduction' was real. Then, he took out a small pouch of spices emitting a rich aroma from the briefcase. Once the spices were placed inside, the surrounding people could no longer smell them, fully verifying the 'scent isolation' function.
"Price: one hundred Gold Sala," the silver-masked guest paused before adding, "or one hundred and fifty exorcism-type or purification-type supernatural bullets. Either payment method is acceptable."
As soon as he finished speaking, a murmur of discussion rippled through the meeting room.
"One cubic meter of space, plus reducing weight by four-fifths? That's much better value than the canvas bags seen at the market before!"
"The scent isolation function is too practical. Last time I carried some magical plants, I was almost chased by monsters attracted by the smell all the way!"
Many eyes showed clear interest. Some people began counting their Gold Sala, while others touched the pouches at their waists containing supernatural bullets, clearly considering whether to make an exchange.
Evan sat in the corner, his heart giving a sudden leap—this was exactly the storage-type supernatural item he had been desperately searching for! Sufficient space, weight reduction, and even scent isolation—it perfectly met his needs. He subconsciously clenched his fists, his gaze fixed intently on the briefcase, his excitement beyond words. But upon hearing the price, he frowned slightly—one hundred Gold Sala was a significant sum for him now, and he didn't have a single one of the one hundred and fifty supernatural bullets.
Just then, a thought suddenly flashed into Evan's mind: the fisherman earlier allowed someone to exchange thirty purification bullets for the mermaid ointment, and now the silver-masked guest also accepted supernatural bullets as payment. Did that mean in the supernatural world, supernatural bullets could be used just like Gold Sala? Perhaps in some situations, due to their higher practicality, supernatural bullets were even more popular than Gold Sala?
Evan's fingers unconsciously rubbed his trouser pocket, feeling the meager contents of his purse, and sighed helplessly in his heart: "Ah, I'm really so poor."
He carefully recalled the thickness of his purse; the little Gold Sala he had wasn't even enough for a fraction of the storage briefcase. Ordinary methods of earning money were as slow as a snail's crawl in the supernatural world.
"I need to find a way to earn Gold Sala using supernatural means." As soon as this thought emerged, he jolted—he was NO.9, the Cartographer. After taking the potion, his eyesight had been enhanced, and he seemed able to inscribe special patterns onto objects. The exorcism bullets he saw earlier all had exquisite, mysterious patterns engraved on their surfaces. Those patterns were clearly more than just ordinary decorations; they must be related to the bullets' supernatural abilities.
"Could I possibly manufacture some special supernatural bullets?" Evan's heart beat faster, as if seeing a glimmer of light in a pitch-black tunnel. Just as this thought grew clearer, he suddenly felt the vague unease from the potion within him lessen considerably. The flow of the potion within his body also seemed smoother, not as sluggish as it had been. Evan couldn't help but blink, his eyes filled with surprise and confusion: "It seems... I've found a way to accelerate the digestion of the potion? Could it be that thinking about how to apply supernatural abilities has sped up the fusion of the potion with myself?" He decided to experiment more later to verify this conjecture.
At that moment, quite a few people in the meeting room were interested in the storage-type supernatural item. Seeing Evan had no immediate intention to buy, someone soon stepped forward. A man draped in a black cloak approached; the hood obscured most of his face, revealing only a smooth, clean chin with elegant lines. Evan's gaze lingered on that chin for a few seconds, feeling the curve was somewhat familiar. But he immediately dismissed the thought—this was his first time at the Supernatural Assembly, how could he possibly know anyone here? Suppressing his doubts, Evan carefully took out the dagger he had obtained after killing the assassin on the train from his backpack. The dagger was dark black overall, its blade so sharp it reflected the candlelight, with an anti-slip black leather cord wrapped around the hilt. Placing the dagger on the table, he cleared his throat and introduced: "A supernatural dagger. Its characteristic is sharpness. Tested, it can easily pierce through steel plate as thick as a soybean. The edge also carries faint cutting-type Supernatural Factors. Twenty supernatural bullets, purification or exorcism attributes are fine."
The price he set wasn't high, mainly because he wanted to get a few supernatural bullets back to study, to see what secrets the patterns on them held.
Supernaturals could never have too many supernatural weapons, perpetually in danger as they were.
As soon as Evan finished speaking, a slightly plump Supernatural squeezed forward. This Supernatural wore a loose brown short jacket, a simple, honest smile on his face, but his eyes were shrewd. He examined the dagger, weighed it in his hand, then readily took out a small cloth pouch from his pocket, pouring out ten purification bullets emitting a soft white light and ten demon-breaking bullets with a faint purple glow. "I'll take it. I just happen to lack a handy short blade."
Evan carefully checked each of the twenty supernatural bullets before storing them safely in an inner pocket. Watching the plump Supernatural leave contentedly with the dagger, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief—he finally had research material.
Over the next thirty minutes, Evan observed several more transactions: someone exchanged a "Sunstone" that emitted warm energy for a set of supernatural leather armor for cold resistance; another person took out a small vial of "Bull Strength Potion" that temporarily increased strength, trading it for a map marking the nests of low-level supernatural creatures.
Evan watched and listened attentively, silently committing these transaction details and item characteristics to memory, gaining quite a bit of supernatural knowledge.
Thirty minutes later, the trading was winding down, and the number of people in the meeting room gradually dwindled. Old William looked around at the remaining people, his gray-white eyebrows twitching slightly. Confirming no one else wished to continue trading, he slowly stood up and announced in his voice, seasoned by the years: "This trading session is concluded. Thank you all for participating. We look forward to meeting again next time." After speaking, he gave a slight nod and was the first to head towards the meeting room door.
The guests also rose one after another, gradually leaving the wooden cabin.
Evan carefully checked the twenty supernatural bullets once more, confirming they were fine, then followed the flow of people, walking out of the wooden cabin.
