Chapter 113
by 常花一笑Chapter 113
Shen Geng took a deep breath.
Sometimes knowing too much wasn’t a good thing.
Lin Lie or Song Xiyan, when faced with this scene, could openly express their dissatisfaction and interfere with Bai Xingshu’s attempts to charm others.
But Shen Geng, who knew the most, had no such standing.
Fully aware that he had never been within Bai Xingshu’s romantic considerations, the only thing he could do seemed to be offering his support.
Shen Geng took another deep breath and glanced down at the communicator Bai Xingshu had tossed him—meant for coordinating with other class groups. According to Bai Xingshu, this was a *perfect* opportunity to hone his combat command skills!
At the time, hearing those words and seeing Bai Xingshu’s mischievous grin, Shen Geng’s hand had acted on its own to take it.
And now…
Shen Geng pressed his lips together, responding to a new request for help on the communicator with a likely solution from another department. Then he looked up—
Someone else had joined Bai Xingshu’s side.
Qin Jianchi.
An Elite Alpha who had just broken up with his Beta partner after a long vacation.
Watching Bai Xingshu—with an Elite Alpha on either side—the three of them laughing together…
Shen Geng: “…?”
His jealousy vanished in an instant, replaced by sheer bewilderment.
Wait, had Bai Xingshu improved this quickly?
One-on-one was one thing, but this? In Shen Geng’s understanding, this was too much.
Unable to hold back, Shen Geng reached out and pulled Bai Xingshu aside. “Come here. I need to talk to you.”
“What?” Bai Xingshu looked puzzled but waved anyway at his two new friends. “I’ll be right back.”
Hearing Bai Xingshu’s cheerful tone, the two Elite Alphas exchanged glances. Their squad leader looked thunderous, and the barely contained frustration in Shen Geng’s gaze was unmistakable.
Both having been through heartbreak, they immediately understood. Barely keeping straight faces, they fought back laughter.
Their always-cool squad leader actually had something he couldn’t handle?
“Don’t take too long,” Qin teased, watching with amusement as Shen Geng’s steps immediately sped up after that remark.
The two moved just far enough from the group for some privacy, though given the training march, they couldn’t stray too far. Shen Geng lowered his voice. “One is fine, but how can you… how can you…” He fumbled for words before gritting out, “How can you flirt with two people at once?”
Bai Xingshu wasn’t expecting this to be why Shen Geng pulled him aside.
Watching Shen Geng chide him while looking even more flustered than he was, Bai Xingshu patted his shoulder and rested his forehead against his own hand, trying not to laugh.
“What are you even thinking?”
“Do I seem like the type to date two people?” Bai Xingshu genuinely hadn’t expected that, with his track record in romance, Shen Geng would think him capable of managing two relationships at the same time.
Shen Geng: "......"
Shen Geng gave Bai Xingshu a long, gloomy look at his completely clueless expression.
With this guy, forget about just dating two people.
Shen Geng even felt like he could easily handle three or four without any issue.
But he didn’t say it out loud. The more he thought about it, the more it sounded too much like a bitter complaint.
Shen Geng changed the subject back: "Then what were you doing just now?"
"Flirting with them!" Bai Xingshu announced confidently.
Shen Geng: ....
Watching Shen Geng’s expression twist instantly at those three words, Bai Xingshu burst into laughter again before collecting himself a little. "I still remember what I promised you—that I’d find an Elite Alpha I like."
"I was just getting to know them, seeing what they're like."
"Before deciding whether I like someone or not, I’d have to meet and talk to them first, right?"
"Don’t worry, I understood what you meant about finding someone I genuinely like," Bai Xingshu said with complete confidence. "I won't hurt anyone again!"
Shen Geng froze, then frowned.
He picked up on something.
"What did Cheng Yunxi say to you?" Shen Geng asked immediately.
Bai Xingshu's head snapped up in surprise, totally blindsided by the question.
But though Bai Xingshu was honest, he wouldn’t casually share a private conversation with others.
He only spoke of his own choice.
"I turned him down."
Shen Geng was stunned.
This he hadn't expected at all.
Bai Xingshu rejected Cheng Yunxi's confession?
He wanted to ask when it happened, but realized it was a useless question before the words left his mouth.
They'd only been alone during that event.
Was there an argument?
Definitely not.
Shen Geng had seen how they'd said goodbye—peaceful, with Cheng Yunxi even seeming reluctant to leave.
After a pause, Shen Geng asked, "Any regrets about rejecting his confession?"
Bai Xingshu shook his head decisively, without any hesitation.
Shen Geng looked at Bai Xingshu and put himself in Bai's place: "Since you don’t regret it, I don’t think Cheng Yunxi would want you to feel guilty over this either."
"Liking you was his choice." And it was my choice too.
Bai Xingshu scratched his head and chuckled awkwardly: "Huh? Never thought that deep about it."
"I just felt that since he took his feelings so seriously, I was being fake when I approached him initially with the mindset of finding an Elite Alpha."
"So now, when I talk to people, I’ll first ask myself—is this someone I could like?"
"Seeing them as individuals first is at least the bare minimum of respect, right?"
Shen Geng stayed silent.
"So, now that you’ve met them all, what's your take?"
Bai Xingshu gave a thumbs-up, his tone proud: "They're all awesome friends!"
Shen Geng: "......"
What's there to be proud about?!
So much for expecting anything from this clueless idiot.
"Do you even know what it feels like to like someone?" Shen Geng snarked.
He suspected that even if Bai Xingshu ever blushed or his heart raced, the guy would just blame it on adrenaline over meeting a worthy opponent.
Bai Xingshu side-eyed Shen Geng—clearly looking down on him—and puffed up proudly: "Of course I know!"
"I've totally had crushes, alright?"
"I'm not like you!" Bai Xingshu scoffed.
As fellow permanent bachelors, Bai Xingshu firmly believed that having experienced a crush already put him miles ahead of Shen Geng!
Shen Geng was shook.
Bai Xingshu had liked someone?
Who?
That gold-digger?
He didn’t give Shen Geng a chance to press further. After all, Bai Xingshu knew full well how absurd it would be if Shen Geng asked who he’d had a crush on and he answered, "You."
Shen Geng was the type to button his PJs to the neck—a total prude.
The same guy who’d stammered awkwardly when asked about his championship footage.
Folks these days were just too fragile about these things.
Bai Xingshu genuinely felt it was better not to hurt them.
Spotting the Instructor coming their way, Bai Xingshu grabbed Shen Geng's arm, shutting down this sudden emotional discussion.
"Let’s go back. The Instructor’s coming."
Shen Geng picked up on it—Bai Xingshu didn’t want to talk about his old flame.
So, even Bai Xingshu had things locked away tight that he didn’t want to share...
