    Chapter 230

The scene before them defied their comprehension. Someone immediately spoke up, asking Bai Xingshu, “How did you do that?”

    Magic? Supernatural powers?

“…Just by using your senses to control it?” Bai Xingshu tried to explain the nature of his ability. “At first, you sense what you want to control, and then you feel it become clear and vivid in your mind…”

Listening to Bai Xingshu speak, everyone looked like they were watching something from a xianxia novel.

This was way beyond their scientific understanding.

Seeing their expressions—torn between belief and skepticism—Bai Xingshu could only offer them a polite smile. “Maybe… you teachers could give it a shot when you have time?”

    He made this suggestion sincerely.

The system had once mentioned that superpowers from the apocalyptic world and the latent psychic potential in this world were fundamentally the same.

That fact had been strongly proven when Bai Xingshu’s abilities greatly increased after he presented as an Omega.

Since they shared the same origin, and Bai Xingshu could use his powers in this world, it meant psychic abilities might work too.

Bai Xingshu proposed this idea and, while his mission was nearing completion and his relationship with the system had improved, got the system to check it out. The conclusion was that it was theoretically possible.

That was enough for Bai Xingshu.

He didn’t want to spend his whole life keeping his abilities under wraps.

If others in this world could also use them, then there would be nothing to worry about!

As for the system’s warning about differences between the two worlds—that people here would find it much harder to achieve results, unlike in the apocalyptic world where most people who awakened instinctively knew how to use their abilities, and the effects wouldn’t be as strong—Bai Xingshu interpreted it as… they simply needed to train harder.

    In that case…

Everyone should start training like crazy!

With this “malicious” thought in mind, Bai Xingshu began putting on his performance.

Considering the practice time people in this world would need, Bai Xingshu had held back from using these powers during his training at school. Three months should be enough for those with talent to show some results, which was why he revealed it only now.

    Now…

Bai Xingshu watched as the teachers in front of him stared hard at the school badge in his palm, straining to make it spin again. He gave an awkward laugh.

“Teacher, I actually think what each person can control might vary,” Bai Xingshu said, retrieving the badge and clipping it back on his uniform. “I’ve found I can only control metal—everything else has zero effect.”

“My roommate… Shen Geng,” Bai Xingshu added, explaining his theory, “during his transition, first noticed the trees rustling outdoors, while I felt the metal framework in our dorm more clearly.”

“I think the scent of one’s pheromones might be a clue.”

This was something Bai Xingshu realized only after the system left, so he had no way to verify it.

But he thought it was pretty likely.

Superpowers came in many forms, varying from person to person—wind, fire, lightning, strength, or unique traits.

Similarly, people’s scents in this world were entirely different.

Moreover, as the system had previously explained, Bai Xingshu was able to sense the scents of Alpha and Omega pheromones even before differentiation because those scents were actually expressions of mental energy.

Bai Xingshu’s words got everyone thinking hard, especially Song Xiyan.

As a researcher—particularly one who had studied mental control systems—he had indeed sensed that there was another force inside every person. They’d been trying to turn this awareness into something usable.

And now it turned out that this force could be used like *this*?

If people could actively tap into it after forming connections, they could solve a bunch of research problems right away!

Meanwhile, others couldn’t help but randomly point at some metal objects, telling Bai Xingshu to move them—and then…

Good news: Bai Xingshu really could do it.

Bad news: Their own scents had nothing to do with metal. Some of them were even Betas who had no idea what their scent was.

    What a shock!

They’d mostly bought what Bai Xingshu said, since the feelings they’d had during their own differentiation *did* seem kind of connected to their personal scents.

Some had even guessed what their superpowers might be based on those scents, only to realize… it seemed like something pretty useless.

    But…

Useless or not, it's still a superpower!

Who hadn’t dreamed about being a mage when they were younger?!

So they started grilling Bai Xingshu again about how he trained his ability.

For Bai Xingshu, his power was pretty strong right when he got it, so he didn’t have any beginner struggles.

Still, in the apocalypse, there were plenty of people with weak powers—kind of like Betas here.

Those people had done a ton of research. It was unclear whether it applied in this world, but even if it didn’t, there had to be some overlap.

Bai Xingshu broke down the theories in simple words.

Now that they had answers and ideas, all that was left was to try putting them into practice.

Since there was no reason to keep Bai Xingshu around anymore, someone waved him off and he was shown the door.

    Bai Xingshu: “….”

    Talk about ungrateful—that was fast!

Muttering to himself, he turned and saw someone he knew walking toward him.

His face brightened and he quickly stepped over.

“Shen Geng, what are you doing here?” With no one around, Bai Xingshu went in for a bear hug without hesitation.

Shen Geng looked at him, glad he looked okay, and pulled him close. “Off duty.”

Fighters got breaks, and commanders too—just less often.

“What’d the teachers want?” Shen Geng asked, walking off with Bai Xingshu.

As the Commander, he couldn't keep his eyes fixed solely on Bai Xingshu's side, so Shen Geng missed that split-second move Bai Xingshu made during the fight.

    "It's classified," Bai Xingshu replied.

That was a requirement from the teachers of both schools—Bai Xingshu wasn't allowed to talk about it openly until confirmation.

Shen Geng was surprised: "There are actually things I'm not cleared to know?"

Bai Xingshu: "…" Oh, right—he'd forgotten again, habitually. This guy *was* still a crown prince.

"No," Bai Xingshu said, putting on his best poker face, then turning toward Shen Geng, "Unless you try to win me over."

Hearing this, Shen Geng's eyes crinkled with amusement as he reached out and took Bai Xingshu's hand.

    Their fingers intertwined.

Bai Xingshu immediately struggled to maintain his icy expression, but his eyes began twinkling with mischief as he teased, "You'll have to do better than that."

Everyone in the monitoring room and command center: "…"

Sure, there might not be anyone else around those two, but they were still watching!!!

No shoving PDA in our faces for crying out loud!!!
