Chapter 145
by 常花一笑Chapter 145
The next day, the refocus training commenced.
This time, students were not required to bring special equipment—only a few basic tools were permitted.
The overall training objective was straightforward: survive for a day in their assigned zones.
Though there were numerous students, once spread out across the terrain, they hardly noticed anyone else nearby.
In any case, Bai Xingshu used his abilities to sense the surroundings and detected no metal within 50 meters, except for what he carried on himself.
Such a fundamental survival exercise posed little challenge for Bai Xingshu. With just a knife, he constructed a makeshift shelter.
Hunting and gathering were effortless for him—something he could easily manage when it was time to eat. So, he decided to ask his system to queue up some tutorial videos for entertainment.
Unfortunately, the system appeared as though it was about to abandon him.
To put it simply, it had powered off entirely.
Bai Xingshu briefly considered it but did not force the issue.
After all, he didn’t need the system to have fun.
For him, entertainment in this environment… meant messing with his ‘dear’ classmates.
Where’s the excitement if it’s too safe?
With this mindset, Bai Xingshu stealthily moved through the trees toward his peers.
He wouldn’t bother those he wasn’t familiar with, but if he encountered someone he knew…
A student from Class S of the Combat Department suddenly stepped into thin air, felt dizzy, and—whoosh—got caught by a trap and hoisted into a tree.
A cloud of question marks arose above the student’s head.
Since when does the rainforest come equipped with traps?! The student froze in shock for a few seconds before quickly piecing it together.
With just a little thought, it wasn’t hard to guess who was behind this.
When there was danger, Bai Xingshu was the greatest source of safety. When there was no danger, Bai Xingshu was the greatest source of peril.
"Vice-class leader!!" the student wailed, thrashing like a caught fish to free himself from the tree. After landing, he glared around but saw no sign of Bai Xingshu. Instead, at the base of the tree, he found the words: *[Name]’s Losing Tree*.
This kind of thing…
Somebody had to start it.
Once the first move was made, it was like a snowball fight—all hell would break loose.
Bai Xingshu had targeted Class S, and since the angered students couldn’t catch their vice-class leader, the warzone expanded on its own to include the entire Combat Department.
Then, since some Combat Department students shared rooms with kids from other tracks—and were relatively familiar with them—the situation escalated quickly.
Thus, the refocus training site transformed into utter chaos, with curses lighting up the whole area.
The teachers in charge of the training also noticed the current situation.
After all, it was an outdoor setting, and the surveillance couldn’t cover everything. However, that didn’t stop the monitoring teachers from making an educated guess about what had happened.
"Was it Bai Xingshu?"
"Had to be Bai Xingshu."
"It must’ve been Bai Xingshu."
Bai Xingshu's name echoed repeatedly in the monitoring room. Although the teachers privately agreed that making such assumptions about a student wasn’t ideal… based on their experience teaching this class for over a year, whenever such chaotic situations arose—especially unprecedented ones—if Bai Xingshu was present, pinning the blame on him had never once been wrong.
A 100% track record was downright uncanny.
Still, assumptions aside, the teachers responsible for supervising the students would still carefully assess the situation.
Soon, they began coordinating various surveillance feeds to understand the chaotic scuffles happening across the field.
The teachers tried to make sense of the chaos, but there was none.
Everywhere, people were fighting randomly, and often, those involved didn’t even know each other.
The teachers were totally lost, but seeing the students going all out in training on their own was, after all, a good thing. They chuckled as the students stirred up mischief without paying too much attention, then turned their focus to locating Bai Xingshu.
That part wasn’t difficult—Bai Xingshu’s actions were always eye-catching.
It didn’t take long before they spotted him.
He was fishing.
One stab, one fat fish.
Somehow, a crowd of students had already formed around him.
Some were lighting fires, others setting up pots, and some were whittling chopsticks—everyone was orderly and efficient, forming a stark contrast to the brawling chaos elsewhere.
The teachers blinked. "Huh?"
Turns out, the chaos elsewhere had nothing to do with Bai Xingshu.
Meanwhile, Bai Xingshu was busy with something else entirely.
Before they could recover, the teachers watched as the students began processing the fish Bai Xingshu had caught, along with other game brought in by classmates.
The smoky scent of food curled through the air, and soon, the smell spread far and wide.
Before long, the students engaged in fights elsewhere got a whiff of it.
Their fights were more playful than serious, so the brawling groups all paused, exchanged glances, and then wandered over to the cooking spot one by one.
The previously chaotic battlegrounds went dead silent.
Soon, nearly a third of the freshmen in the focus-training session had gathered in this area, laughing as they threw together a big outdoor cookout.
The teachers just stared.
Then, a drone zipped over to check out the crowd.
The teachers' voices came down from the drone, laced with reprimands and curses.
"You guys! Wherever you came from, get your asses back there!"
"Do you even know what survival training is? If something really happens, do you think you’ll have a bunch of people around to help each other?"
"Break it up! Anyone still gathered will have points deducted!"
Hearing the teachers' reprimands, the students responded with a chorus of scoffing remarks.
When they were fighting earlier, no teacher had stepped in to say it was wrong. But now that they were just eating together, suddenly it became a problem.
This was total double standards!
Still, the threat of point deductions was effective.
Everyone inhaled their food in record time and grudgingly dispersed.
And so, the first day of rainforest survival training came to an uneventful conclusion. However, the teachers didn’t forget to investigate and analyze how the training ground had gotten so out of hand.
The investigation wasn’t difficult.
They just had to review the surveillance footage to see where the first disturbance originated.
Soon, the teachers had their answer.
No shocker here, no mistake about it—it was Bai Xingshu who was the damn instigator.
They wanted their momentary guilt refunded!
The teachers were dumbstruck, exchanging glances among themselves.
Wasn’t this Bai Xingshu student a known troublemaker?
Wasn’t the school’s training difficulty beneath his pay grade?
Shouldn’t they adjust the curriculum to match his... enthusiasm and raise the challenge level a bit?
Of course, since this was the students’ training, the teachers couldn’t intervene too directly. But… there was no harm in letting the students step up their game.
So, after the rainforest survival training ended and the students returned to the school’s spacecraft, they started getting pinged with a message.
All the "crises" they’d faced today? Bai Xingshu was the one who started it. Tomorrow’s terrain training—payback's a bitch—have at him!
The moment this news spread, everyone got that predatory gleam.
Military academy students scuffling with each other was nothing unusual. After some grumbling, most would let it slide without a second thought.
If the instigator had been anyone else, people would’ve shrugged it off.
But if it was Bai Xingshu? That was different.
Back during the first-semester focus training, Bai Xingshu had bounced between divisions, working his charm everywhere—some even considered him a friend.
And that rainforest cookout? Also initiated by Bai Xingshu, rekindling that squad spirit they’d shared as freshmen.
So in everyone’s minds, they were tight with Bai Xingshu.
And besides…
Most students at Capital Military University ran in the intermediate leagues of the training platforms. Over the past year, Bai Xingshu had… taken on half the damn student body.
Anyone who’d faced "The Bai Xingshu Experience" knew the drill all too well.
Instant adrenaline rush, no cap.
Game on.
