Chapter 26: I Didn’t Hear Anything
by**Chapter 26: I Heard Nothing**
The Jian family.
After the video call, Old Mr. Jian was overwhelmed with mixed feelings.
That Yi family kid was impressive—just a few words in, and he’d already shown off his calmness and standout demeanor.
Handing Ye’er over to him was the right call.
Old Mr. Jian, who ran such a massive family, wasn’t someone without desires. He didn’t see himself as a saint. Over the years, he had a pretty good grasp of how things really were within the Jian family, and what each of his sons was thinking.
At first, sending Jian Ye for that arranged marriage had definitely been about profit—thinking even a good-for-nothing grandson could make himself useful as a bridge for business growth between the two families.
But now, he didn’t think that way anymore. The grievances his youngest grandson poured out today left him feeling guilty.
As Ye’er’s own grandfather, had he ever given the kid even 30% of his attention?
Old Mr. Jian realized he’d ignored the boy’s feelings. After a moment’s thought, he turned to the butler beside him and said, “Transfer some money into Ye’er’s account.”
The butler asked, “How much would be appropriate, sir?”
Old Mr. Jian stroked his beard. “What do you think… Is ten million enough? Would the Yi family think we’re being stingy with Ye’er?”
The butler replied, “The young master’s had it rough all these years—he deserves to be spoiled a little.”
Old Mr. Jian smacked his palm on the table. “Fifty million then. The kid needs some financial cushion in his husband’s home.”
The butler immediately responded, “Understood, sir. I’ll handle it right away.”
Fifty mil just for pocket money—imagine how much more the actual gifts will be, the butler mused. *The old man talks tough, but he’s all bark and no bite. Deep down, he still spoils the young master the most.*
The other branches of the family probably wouldn’t take this well.
The Jian estate was definitely in for some serious drama…
……
Jian Ye had a blast at the Yi family’s place today.
He didn’t even know they had a horse ranch in the backyard. The young master, who’d never ridden a horse before, was buzzing with excitement, screaming internally with joy.
Yi Siyu really kept his word—whatever Jian Ye asked for that day, he came through without fail. Truly thoughtful.
Even at dinner, there were dishes he loved. He devoured an entire plate of lobster, feeling a tad embarrassed at letting his inner foodie show.
But no one in the Yi family cared how much he ate—they were actually thrilled he liked it so much they even had Yi Siyu peel shrimp for him, making Jian Ye feel genuinely pampered.
On the way back, it was Third Young Master Yi’s private car doing the honors—the VIP treatment was unreal.
Only on the ride home did Jian Ye notice a text message alert: fifty million had just been added to his account.
He spent forever counting the zeros before finally confirming the amount. Then he checked WeChat—*no way!* It was from the old man?!
*The old man’s the GOAT!*
“System 748: Today, the host rode ponies, crushed some shrimp, collected Green Tea Points, and stacked some cash.”
“Jian Ye: Life’s good.”
"System 748: I'm thrilled too! That shrimp was amazing!"
"Jian Ye: You know what they say—too much happiness brings bad luck. I’ve been so lucky today, so is something terrible coming next?"
"System 748: Host, your day wasn’t all smooth sailing either. Your head got banged up, didn’t it?"
"Jian Ye: Dammit!"
Thinking about it, he instantly felt at peace and let himself enjoy the joy he had earned through pain.
He paid for this happiness with injury! Jian Ye firmly believed in the coexistence of good and bad luck—when misfortune hits rock bottom, fortune follows; when joy peaks, sorrow begins.
Hang in there, I can win and ditch my loser destiny!
…
The marriage license didn’t really change Jian Ye’s life. After that day, he kept living his usual routine.
Yi Siyu said that after the ceremony, he’d help him move.
And Yi Siyu himself would be moving out of the Yi mansion.
For Jian Ye’s convenience, he chose a high-end residential complex near Yunjing Communication University as their marital home.
After all, in Yunjing, the Yi family owned property everywhere.
Later, both families met as planned and picked an auspicious date—the end of this month.
Jian Ye and Yi Siyu would hold their ceremony at Yunjing’s most prestigious hotel, Yunding Hotel.
Being Yunjing’s top wealthy family, the wedding’s luxury was a given, but they wouldn’t have many guests.
Only Yunjing’s top twenty elite families and business VIPs were invited.
The sole exception was Yu Lin’s family, who had been promised an invitation—but only one.
Just one seat, no more. Still, Yu Lin lucked out big time.
This was an elite-only wedding—lower-tier families wouldn’t even know it happened.
Even if word got out, no outsiders would see the couple.
Since Jian Ye was still in school, Yi Siyu made sure the wedding was up to the standards of a prestigious family while maintaining enough privacy.
That way, it wouldn’t mess with Jian Ye’s school or routine after marriage.
Jian Ye didn’t have to worry about the details. He relaxed and just waited for the big day.
In the meantime, Yi Siyu hired a famous international designer to create their wedding outfits. The designer custom-fitted Jian Ye himself and tailored a white suit for him.
As he tried it on, the man beside him stared with a gaze that grew heavier.
Jian Ye didn’t notice. Checking out his glowing reflection in the mirror, he thought for once he looked like a damn god.
Clothes make the man—this masterpiece from a top designer brought out every one of his best features.
Especially his slim waist—the curves were just perfect.
"Brosiyu, mind if I snap a pic for my dorm chat?" Jian Ye hadn’t invited any classmates to the wedding—not to bother Yi Siyu.
He knew all the invitees were prestigious companies and upper-class families, so bringing classmates might be out of place.
But he hadn’t hidden this from his roommates, who understood his family situation and didn’t mind at all. They even congratulated him and promised to keep it a secret.
Yi Siyu gazed at the boy’s expectant eyes and couldn’t bring himself to refuse.
In his heart, he selfishly wished to burn this image of the young man into his memory alone, allowing no one else to glimpse it.
But fearing such thoughts might scare him, he restrained himself and simply said: "Sure."
Jian Ye beamed with joy, grabbed his phone, and started snapping selfies.
Whoosh—he spammed the group chat with them all.
"It's Ye, Not Arrogant": [Photo][Photo][Photo][Photo][Photo][Photo]
"Jian Shao’s #1 Bootlicker A-Chi": Wow! (⊙o⊙)
"Jian Shao’s #2 Bootlicker A-Chang": Wow! (⊙o⊙)
"Zheng Yan": Handsome.
"Jian Shao’s #1 Bootlicker A-Chi": Zheng, update your tag.
"Jian Shao’s Right-Hand Man A-Yan": Oh. [Munching popcorn]
"Jian Shao’s #2 Bootlicker A-Chang": You broke ranks, Zheng. Lame!
"Jian Shao’s Right-Hand Man A-Yan": You two handle the bootlicking. I’ll pass. [Smile]
"Jian Shao’s #1 Bootlicker A-Chi": Quit the holier-than-thou act in front of Jian Shao. [Draws sword]
"Jian Shao’s #2 Bootlicker A-Chang": Acting stuck-up gets you wrecked! [Draws sword]
"It's Ye, Not Arrogant": …
"Jian Shao’s #1 Bootlicker A-Chi": A Ye, change your nickname too.
"Jian Shao": Like this?
"Jian Shao’s #2 Bootlicker A-Chang": That was before. Not after marriage. Here, let me fix it for you.
"The Yi Family’s Little Missus": The hell—?
"The Yi Family’s Little Missus": WTF?? NO!!
Three seconds later, "It's Ye, Not Arrogant" dipped from the group "Jian Shao’s Simp Squad."
Soon, the esteemed Jian Shao was yanked back into the chat.
Bootlickers #1 and #2 scrambled to kiss up, burning through their thesaurus hyping up the photos Jian Ye had sent.
Standing before the mirror, Jian Ye cackled at his phone while chatting with his roommates.
Unbeknownst to him, the man beside him had been staring for a long time, something unreadable flashing in his bottomless dark eyes.
A big hand swiped his phone. "If you’re done, change back. Let’s go eat."
Jian Ye stared blankly, hands now empty, still clutching at thin air.
What's up with this guy? Why does he seem a bit unhappy?
Jian Ye walked into the fitting room, bewildered.
Better not to speculate too much about the main love interest’s thoughts.
...
The day of the wedding ceremony arrived quickly, and everything was ready.
None of the scenes Jian Ye had imagined—where White Moonlight would exchange sorrowful glances with the male lead or cause chaos at the wedding—actually happened.
Huh? How did the original author write this part again?
Seems like the marriage process wasn’t described at all—it was brushed over completely.
After the ceremony proceeded smoothly, Jian Ye stuck to Yi Siyu like a puppy. He mimicked every toast the other made.
Except the wine in Jian Ye’s glass had long been swapped out for juice by Yi Siyu.
He was already an adult, yet this man still treated him like a child.
In such a grand setting, he didn’t want to embarrass Yi Siyu, so he behaved obediently the entire time, trying not to show any nervousness.
Using his go-to smile to power through the awkwardness.
By the time it was over, Jian Ye’s stomach was sloshing with liquid—he’d drunk so much he felt bloated.
"Brother Siyu, I’m going to the restroom."
Muttered Jian Ye.
"Mm, go ahead. There’s nothing else afterward, so you can head straight back to the lounge. There’s some food prepared for you there."
"Okay."
The hotel’s service and environment were top-notch. Even the restrooms were obscenely lavish, without a hint of unpleasant odor.
Jian Ye rushed into a stall to take a leak. Just as he was hitching up his pants and fastening his belt, he heard voices outside.
"I’m really surprised Third Young Master Yi got married. He used to have a rep for being wild. After that incident, no one dared to send their kids near him."
That incident? What incident?
Jian Ye caught the scent of gossip and pinned his ear to the door to listen.
"His partner looks really young, almost underage. Is he seriously messed up enough to—"
"Shut your mouth! Do you want to die? He can’t be underage, but I heard he’s still in school, so definitely quite young."
"Damn, who knew he’d go for the little white flower type? Wonder how long someone like that can survive in a wealthy family that chews people up and spits them out?"
"What, you interested? Don’t even think about it. That’s Third Young Master Yi’s person. Even if he dumps them later, it won’t be your turn."
Jesus! These people really think they’ve got a shot. The scheming is so loud I can hear it through the door.
"It’s just a marriage of convenience. Don’t take it too seriously. Didn’t you see during the ceremony? Third Young Master Yi couldn’t even be bothered to look at his spouse."
"Meanwhile, the other one was grinning like an idiot, playing the lapdog. The pecking order’s obvious. Once they get into the Yi family, they’ll probably be ground into the dirt." The group started cracking up as they spoke. Christ, when will they shut up? Laugh all you want—joke’s on them, suckers!
"System 748: Dude, your laugh is straight-up evil, hehe~"
"Jian Ye: You think they’d piss themselves if I walked out right now?"
"System 748: Wanna test that theory?"
No sooner said than done—Jian Ye rustled around noisily in the stall.
Outside, everyone freaked the hell out. "Who’s there?! Come out!"
Jian Ye pushed the door open boldly, all wide-eyed innocence—zero fucks given.
He deadass serious said, "Carry on, boys, I didn’t hear a thing."
"..."
"..."
Are you even listening to yourself?!
Yeah, fucking nobody's buying that!!
"Author’s Note:"
Er Tong: President Yi, hurry up! Someone’s trying to wife-steal!
Your alpha CEO drops in thirty seconds!
