Chapter 28: What’s the Name of His Spouse?
byChapter 28: The Name of His Future Spouse
Jian Ye had assumed that Yi Siyu was taking him to a hotel room to rest, but instead, the man led him to the hotel basement.
The basement was parked with luxury cars, all belonging to wealthy guests attending the wedding banquet.
Through the fabric covering him, Jian Ye saw the man stop in front of a Bentley.
The car door opened, and Yi Siyu lifted him into the backseat.
A driver was already waiting in the front.
"Take us back to Lanfeng Bay," the man said in a low voice.
"Yes, third young master."
Jian Ye remained in an extremely awkward position, sitting on top of Yi Siyu. He could feel the tension like a gathering storm radiating from the man, freezing him in place.
Only once the car was underway did he gently lift a corner of the coat covering his head.
"Brother Siyu, my things... aren't over there yet."
Lanfeng Bay, the future marital home that Yi Siyu had chosen for them, was only a five-minute drive from Yunjing Communication University—close enough to walk.
Recently, Yi Siyu had been having the place redecorated and hadn’t rushed Jian Ye to move in yet.
Originally, they were supposed to move in tomorrow, and tonight was meant to be spent in the presidential suite on the hotel’s top floor.
The hotel had already prepared a temporary bridal suite, decorated exactly to the Yi family’s specifications—just as luxurious as home.
But after this unexpected incident, the man didn’t dare leave Jian Ye at the hotel.
Tonight’s events must have caused the boy deep emotional trauma. As Yi Siyu pondered how to comfort him, he noticed the boy peeking out with a puppy-like motion.
Instantly, his heart softened, and his anger eased slightly.
"It's fine. Everything you need is already there. I'll have your belongings sent over tomorrow."
The car's interior was unlit, and outside it had grown dark. They couldn’t clearly see each other’s faces, but they could feel the warmth of each other’s bodies and the unique scent each carried.
"I'm sorry," Jian Ye finally broke the silence. "Because of me, the perfect plans... got disrupted."
"Why are *you* apologizing?" Yi Siyu tucked the coat tighter around Jian Ye, covering his torn clothes. "I should be the one saying sorry—for putting you through this."
"As for those people, don't worry. They’ll get what's coming to them. They won’t ever bother you again."
Yi Siyu’s words made Jian Ye feel even guiltier.
I’m not the least bit wronged. This was all an act—to rack up Green Tea Points while putting those gossipers in their place.
But there was no way Jian Ye could say that out loud.
Jian Ye: *Er Tong, is he actually serious about marrying me? I thought I was just disposable. I figured this was just a formality, but now I feel like I’m taking advantage of his sincerity. He’s being so genuine, and here I am playing the brat. How fake and ungrateful must I seem?*
System 748: *That information lies outside the system’s parameters. But host, you deviated from character earlier back with those three guys.*
Jian Ye: *Uh... you mean back with those three guys?*
"System 748: It was when you gave that smug, villainous smirk."
"Jian Ye: Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I just wanted to piss them off. With all their 'little white flower,' 'embroidered pillow,' and 'licking dog' comments—like the tiger doesn’t roar, so they think it’s a Hello Kitty."
"System 748: The main system has ruled this as a violation and issued you a yellow card."
"Jian Ye: The hell?"
"System 748: As I mentioned earlier, OOC comes with penalties. This time, since the deviation wasn’t severe, there’s no punishment. But one more violation, and you’ll face consequences."
Jian Ye felt like his head was pounding.
This system really did have a clear reward-and-punishment structure. He hadn’t even enjoyed any rewards yet and already got a yellow card. He was beginning to wonder if he was being manipulated by the system.
Today had been exhausting for Jian Ye—the wedding, the scene he staged in the restroom, and now this system ruling left him completely drained, both mentally and physically.
"What’s wrong? Headache?" Yi Siyu noticed Jian Ye rubbing his temples and worried the young man might have hit his head during the restroom incident.
Jian Ye quickly waved it off. "No, I’m just a little sleepy."
The man relaxed, spotting a stray lock of hair sticking up on the young man’s head, making him look adorkably dazed. He chuckled softly. "We’re almost home."
Home…
The word felt both familiar and foreign.
In his past world, he had been his own home.
Since arriving here, he still had no parents, and that multi-million villa was his "home" in this world.
Now that he was married, he was about to form a "home" with the man before him.
And this home—he might not even get to stay in for long.
Once the White Moonlight arrived, he’d have to step aside, right?
But for now, he savored hearing the word from the man’s lips. Maybe having a home, even briefly, wasn’t so bad—he mused.
...
Lanfeng Bay, an upscale neighborhood.
Their home was on the top floor, a duplex with high ceilings and generously proportioned rooms, complete with a rooftop garden and a sunroom.
The interior design was modern, featuring natural wood and white tones—not the cold, minimalist style typical of a domineering CEO. Truthfully, it felt inviting, like a real home.
Stepping inside, Jian Ye could sense Yi Siyu’s careful consideration.
This place definitely hadn’t looked like this before—it had undergone renovations.
The furniture was all new, harmonizing perfectly with the design and radiating warmth and lived-in comfort.
Downstairs was an open kitchen, while upstairs held two bedrooms and a study. The living room was huge, and next to the stairs was a gaming room enclosed in transparent glass walls.
"Wow! This is amazing!"
Jian Ye’s eyes lit up at the sight of the top-tier gaming setup—the computer was high-end, and the gaming chair clearly cost a fortune—his gamer spirit instantly ignited.
There was also a PS5 set up and ready to play, along with an oversized gaming screen, and tucked in the corner was a wheeled snack station. ...
This is every boy’s dream room!
"I noticed that young people nowadays really enjoy gaming, so I thought you might like it too. That's why I had it remodeled."
Yi Siyu saw the stars in his eyes like an excited puppy, and his heart swelled with joy.
"Aren't you young too?" Jian Ye said while tracing his fingers over the gaming console.
"Maybe on the outside, but not mentally. I don’t usually play games, but if you want me to, I’ll learn just for you."
Can you believe him?
A straight-A student approaches everything with seriousness—even gaming like it's some kind of research, willing to learn just for you.
Jian Ye didn’t bother arguing with a genius like him and simply smiled. "Sure, I’ll guide you then."
"There’s another room here custom-made for you," Yi Siyu offered.
Jian Ye stepped inside and froze instantly.
"This… you…"
Two walls were floor-to-ceiling mirrors, with smooth wooden flooring and a ballet barre in front of them, making it feel like stepping into an idol’s practice room.
"I researched your field and knew it requires a lot of practice. I didn’t want you to have nowhere to dance when you’re home, so I built you a dance studio."
At that moment, Jian Ye’s heart pounded, utterly impressed by this man’s thoughtfulness.
Anyone truly loved by this man would be so incredibly happy.
Today, he had only done a few simple things, yet each one hit all the right notes.
Jian Ye wondered if it was the main character aura at work, making people instinctively drawn to this man’s charm.
*Forget the bottom protagonist falling head over heels for him later—even a mere side character like me is head over heels.*
Ugh, what am I thinking? Falling for a 2D man who doesn’t belong to me will only leave me shattered in the end, right?
Jian Ye shook his head to clear the fantasies in his mind, forcing himself to stay rational.
He simply said, "I’m tired. I’m going to sleep."
"Mm, the master bedroom has a private bathroom. There are clothes in the wardrobe that’ll fit you."
"Brother Siyu, aren’t you resting?"
The man’s large hand suddenly landed on the boy’s head.
The touch was as soft as imagined, so soft he couldn’t resist ruffling it.
"I still have some things to handle. You go ahead and sleep."
"Oh." Jian Ye could already guess what it was about.
He didn’t press further and obediently headed to the master bedroom.
Tonight’s master bedroom… the main color scheme was bridal red, carefully prepared.
Except lying alone under the red marital bedsheets was only one occupant.
A red rose stood in a vase on the nightstand, and the warm glow of the nightlight bathed the room in a cozy ambiance.
A certain freshly bathed pup drifted off to sleep amidst the pleasant fragrance of roses.
...
In the speeding vehicle, Yi Siyu handled the wheel with one hand.
With the other, he tucked a Bluetooth earpiece into his ear.
The call was from his eldest brother.
"Don’t worry, bro. I took him back to Lanfeng Bay… Yeah, he just fell asleep… No need to worry."
"What happened today was my fault. I’ve gotta deal with this myself. Tell Mom and Dad to rest."
"I’ll head back once I’m finished. I won’t leave him alone."
After hanging up, the car sped toward the police station.
He meant it when he said he wouldn’t let those three go.
After leaving the boy, the emotions he’d been holding back came flooding out—uncontrollable and overwhelming.
He needed to blow off steam.
Unfortunately, those three had walked right into his crosshairs.
...
The Yu residence.
When Yu Lin returned home, his son was in the middle of a flirty phone call with his latest fling, dishing out one cheesy pickup line after another—making Yu Lin cringe hard.
He’d been a player back in the day, and now his son had taken after him completely.
Yu Lin couldn’t stop him, but deep down, he wished his son would get his act together instead of wasting his time partying and chasing dead-end flings.
The moment Yu Wei caught sight of his father’s disapproving look, he ended the call.
He perked up and asked, "How was Third Cousin’s wedding? Did you meet any big families?"
Yu Lin chuckled. "You missed out—it was next-level. Just being in that circle is something I could brag about for life."
Yu Wei scoffed. "I wanted to go, but the Yi family only gave us one invitation. Clearly didn’t want the whole family there. How stingy can you get?"
Yu Lin said, "Count yourself lucky. If we weren’t related, we wouldn’t even have gotten that one invite. Everyone there today was a big shot in Yun Jing’s elite circles."
Yu Wei wasn’t interested in that. He only cared about one thing. "So, what’s Third Cousin’s spouse like?"
Yu Lin: "A real looker—the youngest grandson of the Jian family in Yun Jing. They made a striking pair standing together. No photos were allowed at the banquet, or I’d have recorded it for you."
Yu Wei frowned at the surname. "The Jian family?"
Yu Lin: "Aside from the Yi family, the Jians are one of the major wealthy families in the circle. With these two families uniting, tsk tsk—the empire they’ll build? Unstoppable."
Yu Wei: "Third Cousin’s spouse… what’s his full name?"
Yu Lin: "Jian Ye."
"What did you say?!" Yu Wei sprang up like his pants were on fire.
"You scared the hell out of me! What's your problem?!"
"Which character is 'Ye'?"
"The 'Ye' from 'swaying.' Why do you ask?"
Yu Wei stood there frozen, unsure if this was all just his imagination.
No way... It can't be him...
There are so many people with the same name in the world—maybe it's just a coincidence?
Right, maybe it's just someone who happens to share the name. No need to freak out.
"Actually, something else happened today, but I don’t know the details. I just saw a crowd gathered near the hotel restroom. Later, I heard there was a fight inside."
"At that moment, I caught a glimpse of your third cousin carrying someone out. They seemed injured, covered with his coat. From the looks of it, it was the young master of the Jian family."
Hearing this description, Yu Wei recalled what he'd overheard outside the Yi residence and the rumors about Third Young Master Yi’s violent tendencies.
His throat tightened, and a weird feeling twisted in his gut.
Jian Ye... Is that person really you?
"Author's Note:"
Jian Ye: It's me. Surprised?
Yu Wei: !!!
Yi: So you're the one spreading rumors about me being abusive?
Yu Wei: !!! What goes around comes around—that jerk Yu Wei is finally getting played by the green tea puppy."
