    Chapter 29

But this was no time for overthinking.

Qiu Feiwen’s weapon transformed once more, a blue light erupting from his body with overwhelming force as he charged at the Alien again!

The Alien seemed to sense the presence of the thorny vine and the humans, its long "arms" frantically tearing and pounding against the vine sphere.

After separating from Lin Jiaxu, the thorny vine’s attack power was greatly diminished, and even its protective function was now barely holding up under the relentless assault.

The vine sphere was torn apart.

What was once a tightly protected sphere now consisted of only a few vines firmly wrapped around three unconscious children, swinging precariously in mid-air with each violent impact from the Alien.

    Lin Jiaxu froze.

The child’s face turned cold, fury flashing in his eyes—how dare it hurt his parents!

Despite his small stature, an unprecedented power erupted from him.

The ground beneath him cracked as he launched into the air, a chilling black mist swirling around him, forming sharp blades.

He no longer cared about exposure or his parents’ careful warnings.

All he wanted now was to smash this Alien to pieces!

Another deafening explosion echoed as the Alien let out a piercing shriek.

The thorny vine also crashed downward from the sky, falling faster and faster.

Just before hitting the ground, the vines transformed, several long tendrils hooking onto the nearest balcony to soften the impact of the fall.

The thorny vine swayed and spun as it descended, extending countless soft, tender leaves to cushion the people underneath.

    "What is that?!"

Police officers who saw the falling vine sphere turned their weapons toward it, confused.

    "Wait, there are people inside!"

Qiu Feiwen had noticed the vine sphere the moment the child suddenly appeared and flew into the air. As it fell, he immediately shouted to stop anyone about to attack.

He remained cautious of the mysterious thorny vine but remembered how it had protected the children since the illusion. With a brief explanation, the others held their fire.

Meanwhile, the two officers watching Lin Jiaxu had failed to reach him in time. They exchanged wry smiles.

    Everything was in chaos.

Their skills were average, and their Superpowers were ordinary. In the current battle, they could only fire a few shots from a distance, doing little damage to the Alien.

    "What should we do?"

"Captain Zhang is occupied, but Director Li is on her way."

"That’s good. This kid is really a handful..."

His expression was complicated. He never expected Lin Jiaxu to show his true form at such a time, all to save others.

"No wonder Lin Cheng’s attitude changed later," the other sighed.

Faced with such a caring and brave child, even knowing Lin Jiaxu wasn’t human, he couldn’t bring himself to be harsh either.

They shook their heads and looked up at the sky.

Lin Jiaxu, now in the air, had clung to the Alien. Knowing that both the Alien and humans would attack him in his true form, he changed back to human form once the thorny vine got away safely.

Everyone was stunned, watching in disbelief as the small child fought with the Alien.

"Captain... did I see that right? Did that kid just turn into mist?"

    "Yes."

Qiu Feiwen’s throat felt dry as he answered with difficulty.

"Captain, is that child an Alien?"

    "Should we...?"

His teammate gestured, suggesting they deal with Lin Jiaxu.

Qiu Feiwen gathered his thoughts and said with difficulty, "Leave him for now. He’s fighting the Alien. Whether he’s human or not, it’s to our advantage. Let’s deal with the Alien first."

    "Understood!"

    Everyone intensified their attacks.

However, they soon realized the child seemed remarkably strong—the A-level Alien was successfully held back by him.

Qiu Feiwen avoided the Alien and approached the thorny vine on the ground.

As he drew near, the vines slowly retracted, revealing the unconscious people lying within.

The three unconscious individuals—Xu Lechen and the others—were covered in dark reddish patches that had spread to their faces and foreheads. Their breathing was struggling, as if they were being choked.

Qiu Feiwen checked their breathing and sighed in relief, quickly calling out, "These three are still alive! Bring the antidote spray!"

Soon, someone arrived with a metal container.

Qiu Feiwen aimed the nozzle at the three and doused them completely with a white mist.

As the spray settled on them, their breathing gradually steadied, and the red patches stopped spreading.

The medic team swiftly assembled stretchers and loaded them onto stretchers.

After handling the situation, Qiu Feiwen turned his worried gaze to Lin Jiaxu and the Alien.

The thorny vine had returned to Lin Jiaxu’s side after releasing the children, but it was badly wounded.

    "No."

No matter how much the two small flowers wanted to help, Lin Jiaxu firmly held them in, refusing to let them emerge.

If the thorny vine died, it would be for good.

Without the thorny vine’s assistance, Lin Jiaxu was having trouble with the Alien. His punches landed on the creature again and again.

The Alien remained unharmed, as if a mere ant were crawling on it. Yet, its eyes betrayed uncontrollable greed as it thrashed its six arms wildly.

Its frantic struggles seemed driven by irritation. Lin Jiaxu knew his soft fists were no match for it.

The child stopped hitting after a while.

    His hands hurt.

He rubbed his little hands and quietly tucked them behind his back.

Now out of his enraged state, and without the support of his anger, Lin Jiaxu regained his rationality as he watched Qiu Feiwen and the others carry the people away.

The danger to his parents and brother and sister had passed.

The Alien couldn't be taken down with brute force alone. Lin Jiaxu couldn't transform back, but seeing the watchful action team and police below, he thought for a moment and decided not to go down.

He could only hide for now.

The child huddled between the two swollen lumps on the Alien's head.

The Alien kept thrashing and twisting its body, trying to shake off the pest on its body.

With the danger gone, Lin Jiaxu acted more freely, gradually starting to cut loose.

The child blinked and sprang up.

He ran back and forth nonstop on top of its head.

When the Alien swung left and lurched, he jumped to the right head, making sure he never lost his footing.

When it raised its arm to the right, he jumped to the left head.

    "Can't catch me!"

Back and forth, it was like playing on a trampoline.

Lin Jiaxu gradually forgot that he was standing on an Alien and was having the time of his life.

"...Sheesh, what is that little brat doing?"

    A surveillance officer asked.

Another person's eyes went wide—the child seemed to be... playing.

Biting back his absurd guess, he threatened fiercely, "When he comes down, he’s going to get what’s coming to him!"

Lin Jiaxu was getting hooked on the game.

But the Alien grew increasingly irritated by his actions.

The action team hadn’t stopped their attacks, and on top of that, there was an "untouchable and out of reach" creature causing trouble on its head.

    Its anger grew fiercer.

So it suddenly contorted its body, flipping its two heads like an earthquake shaking a mountain, twisting until its head faced downward and its mouth faced upward, opening its large mouth dripping with black saliva.

    "Ah—"

Facing this gaping maw, falling into it would mean being delivered straight into its mouth.

    Lin Jiaxu’s maneuvering got harder.

He relied on his nimble reflexes to instantly adjust his direction.

The Alien jerked up its other limbs, swooped to pin Lin Jiaxu mid-air, and yanked him down hard.

    "Shit!"

Qiu Feiwen watched helplessly as Lin Jiaxu was about to be crammed into the Alien's mouth, getting desperate.

    "Huh?"

Lin Jiaxu looked down at the six arms holding him. He tried moving his own arms but found himself unable to break free.

The kid felt a little guilty.

It seemed he had gotten too caught up in playing and forgotten that without changing back, he couldn't defeat this ugly creature.

Just as Lin Jiaxu was about to be eaten and still hesitating whether to transform, a blaze of yellow light suddenly appeared before him.

The kid's expression changed in a flash, his dark eyes locked onto the source of the light.

The pressure and threat coming from the light's source were way scarier than the Alien!

Lin Jiaxu stared hard at the sudden glow, his body tense under the Alien's grip.

The light pierced through the night, sliced clean through the Alien's arms that held Lin Jiaxu, revealing the figure beneath the radiance.

    "Whoosh—"

The blade rang with a hum.

The air froze for a moment, then, amid the Alien's furious roar, several of its arms sliced right off.

And Lin Jiaxu tumbled down with them.

    He blinked. It's a person.

    The child instantly relaxed.

Zhong Qian's look was fierce as he swung his blade, ready to chop the other Alien—Lin Jiaxu.

But just as the blade was about to land, it halted right at Lin Jiaxu's neck.

Zhong Qian looked at the child strangely: "No way, you're actually human?"

He barely pulled his blade back in time.

Zhong Qian had encountered countless Aliens and was intimately familiar with their aura. After receiving the bureau's notification, he and his teammates had immediately sprung into action.

Having just dealt with several A-Class Aliens, he noticed a distress signal from this area. He wasn't far and rushed over as soon as he saw the signal.

Upon arrival, he sensed two peculiar Alien auras—one large, one small; one strong, one weak.

Strangely, the larger Alien's aura was relatively weak, while the smaller one's was stronger.

Zhong Qian watched as the dazed child stared wide-eyed, continuously gazing at him, completely unaware that he was about to fall into the Alien's mouth.

    "Kid, stop moving around!"

He casually grabbed the child who was falling from mid-air and lifted him up.

Lin Jiaxu, now lifted, had actually heard: "..."

The child puffed out his cheeks angrily. "How can you say that?"

His mother carried him for ten months and went through so much hardship to give birth to him—how could he not be human?

"You're the one who's not human!"

The child retorted loudly, his voice carried away by the fierce wind high above.

    Zhong Qian heard him.

He arched an eyebrow but didn’t respond.

After grabbing hold of the child, Zhong Qian kicked off the Alien’s mouth, leaping upward. The bright yellow blade in his hand swung down, blazing like fire.

In an instant, it sliced through the necks where the Alien’s two heads met, as effortlessly as cutting through tofu.

    "Wow!"

    The child exclaimed in awe.

Just like that, the two heads were neatly severed.

The Alien’s ferocious expression, all its movements, and its life signs stopped abruptly.

The Alien collapsed to the ground with a thunderous crash.

The light was so bright and scorching.

Lin Jiaxu shielded his eyes uncomfortably, yet he was completely captivated by the person who had saved him.

He strained to lift his head and look at Zhong Qian.

Zhong Qian was wearing the same black combat uniform as Qiu Feiwen. The wind whipped his black coat, making it flap noisily. At his waist, there seemed to be a short knife and a handgun.

His hair glowed with the same brilliance as the action team when they lit up, but it was a bright yellow, with orange-red tips at the ends of his short, wind-tossed hair.

He radiated a light as bright as the sun.

It was so beautiful, so dazzling.

    He wanted it.

The child was completely mesmerized by the light, even forgetting he was still in danger.

"You say you’re human? Prove it."

Zhong Qian descended along the Alien’s body with him in tow, a faint smirk on his face.

    "Human is human."

Uncomprehending, Lin Jiaxu blinked, ignoring the fact that he had actively chosen to enter his mother’s womb, and retorted with confidence.

Reluctantly, the child shifted his gaze from Zhong Qian—or rather, from the light around him—and became alert.

Lin Jiaxu sensed an even more intense threat and an overwhelming danger from this person.

Far surpassing his own strength and that of the Alien.

His instincts screamed at him to stay away from this person.

    Dangerous, extremely dangerous.

    He could definitely kill him.

Yet Lin Jiaxu felt frozen, unable to move or take any action.

Staring at Zhong Qian, his pupils occasionally flickering crimson red, he saw the bright yellow light flowing within this person’s body.

The light coursed through his veins, continuously streaming toward the long blade in his hand.

That was the source of the glow on the hilt.

This person was like him—his body contained immense power.

Judging as best he could, Lin Jiaxu felt this person seemed about the same age as Xu Lechen.

    So unique… and so annoying.

Lin Jiaxu frowned but couldn’t resist stealing glance after glance.

That head of golden hair was particularly dazzling.

    "Human is human?"

Zhong Qian chuckled lightly, unable to tell if the child was being clever or genuinely believed what he said.

The blade in his hand let out a startling hum, as if resonating with the warnings screaming in Lin Jiaxu’s mind.

    "Really? You’re really human?"

Zhong Qian rested his blade against Lin Jiaxu’s neck, ready to strike at any moment.

Lin Jiaxu understood Zhong Qian’s threat.

But he couldn’t tear his eyes away. Without even realizing it, the child reached out his small hand and grabbed Zhong Qian’s arm.

The dangerous, powerful energy within Zhong Qian made him instinctively wary and fearful.

Yet, at the same time, his monstrous nature couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming desire to seize that brilliant light, to clutch it tightly in his palm.

Lin Jiaxu’s mind buzzed with excitement.

All fear was cast aside, replaced by an even stronger, obsessive desire.

He just wanted to get closer, even closer.

Just like when he had approached Xu Yinuan, he wanted to claim that warm, radiant brilliance for himself.

    "Mine."

"If I catch it, it’s mine."

The child’s eyes turned crimson red, openly revealing his non-human side.

He didn’t even notice they had already returned to the ground.
