Chapter 480: Day 8 into the Alien War Story
by 三根木Chapter 480: Day 8 of Getting Dropped Into an Alien War Novel
So they set their plan in motion, but unlike their plan to just steamroll everything by sending in powerful alien creatures, they found out they couldn't just dump a bunch of strong alien creatures in—Earth's barrier was way too sturdy.
They had to start small, testing the waters with weak alien creatures and sending them through one by one. Luckily, the more they sent, the bigger the cracks in the barrier got, allowing them to send more and stronger alien creatures.
What really threw them off was that these parasitic Earth natives—who were physically on par with them—actually had some kind of tech?
That stuff was no joke!
It could wipe out a huge chunk of their alien creatures.
But against the top-tier alien creatures with superpowers, those so-called tech weapons of Earth's parasites were useless.
But what they didn't expect was that by sending alien creatures to Earth, they'd cracked the barrier between Earth and that other world. The elements that gave alien creatures their different powers also started piling up on Earth with every deployment.
As a result, humans on Earth started mutating and developing superpowers, getting stronger and stronger—the male lead being one of them.
Once humanity figured out why the war was happening, they naturally decided to fight back against the Riftborn.
The arrogant Riftborn got beaten right in front of their own disbelieving eyes.
To make sure none of them got away, Earth's forces naturally decided to wipe them all out.
Of course, there were hiccups along the way—greedy bastards are never in short supply—but luckily they weren't big problems and got sorted out smoothly.
With the Riftborn gone, the alien creatures lost their handlers, and things went chaotic again. Luckily, without their commanders, everything got successfully put down.
The alien creatures on Earth were handled properly—some killed, some tamed, some used for research, and so on...
Hang Mingyuan killed a few Riftborn, but unfortunately didn't get all their power.
Because their power didn't share the same origin as the alien creatures or Earth's superhumans.
But he did gain the ability to travel between the alien world and Earth, and he could bring others along too. So he worked with the country to take over the alien world. There were some run-ins with other countries later, but those got resolved just fine too.
The novel ended with Earth winning, the male lead becoming the most powerful superhuman and getting everything he deserved. As for... the female lead, Qu Xinyu... yeah...
She got seriously hurt in an alien attack early on. Hang Mingyuan saved her, but she ended up in a coma. She only woke up near the end when Earth won, and got her happy ending with the male lead. She barely had any screen time—just a background character.
An Yi: "..."
Okay.
An Yi squinted.
His fingertip twitched, and the space in front of him instantly locked down.
Riftborn... peeking into parallel worlds, hopping through space...
A glint of interest flashed in An Yi's eyes.
Isn't this literally my specialty?
How thoughtful of you, Riftborn.
I'm coming to make some new friends!
The Riftborn's power...
No wonder his power had broken through after he got to this world.
Not because this world's power level was super high—though it wasn't low either.
But because the Riftborn's power was right up his alley!
An Yi pulled his finger back, and everything dissolved into thin air.
He thought back to the info from the original novel.
According to the original story, the first alien creatures showed up... three months later.
The original used a flashback, showing Hang Mingyuan reading about that history in the archives after he got strong. The novel described that first incident in vivid detail.
It happened at Donglong Mountain.
Two provinces over from here.
An Yi's gaze shifted southeast.
His gaze seemed to cut through the city's skyscrapers, through mountains and rivers, landing on the peak the original called "the place where the nightmare began."
Three months from now, he'd definitely go check it out.
----------
In Longji Town, where the morning mist hadn't fully cleared yet, An Yi stood at the edge of town, looking up at the gray-blue ridge in the distance—that was Donglong Mountain.
He decided to scope the place out first.
An old-timer from town strolled by in the early morning, a soy milk stall had just put up its sign, and white steam was puffing out of the steamer.
Everything was so ordinary it was reassuringly peaceful.
An Yi headed up the mountain path.
His steps were light; his six-year-old body moved across the mountain trail like it was flat ground.
The deeper he went, the denser the forest got, and birdsong echoed eerily through the morning mist.
He carefully took in his surroundings. After about half an hour of walking, he stopped at a fairly open rocky slope.
This was the spot.
A few massive gray-white boulders were scattered across the slope, with dark green moss growing in the cracks.
Below the slope was a mixed forest, and past that, a steep cliff face.
According to the original novel, three months later, those nine hikers would pass through here and run into the first batch of alien creatures coming out of a spatial rift—three monsters that looked like giant toads with bone spikes on their backs.
In the end, only one would escape, badly hurt, and bring news to the world that alien creatures existed.
That's how the novel kicked off.
An Yi reached out and lightly tapped the air above the rocky slope.
He left a marker there.
So he could teleport straight back here later.
With that done, he turned and headed back down the mountain.
----------
Three months felt like the blink of an eye to An Yi.
An Yi left his house, and once he confirmed no one was around, he took a single step.
Space folded, compressed, then expanded.
When he landed again, he was standing on the rocky slope of East Long Mountain.
It was 2:17 PM. The sunlight was just right, but the temperature had already turned cold, and the rock slope felt slightly chilly.
An Yi stood at the spot he had marked three months ago, waiting in silence.
At 2:31, the air in front of him began to ripple.
At first, it was barely perceptible, but soon, the subtle ripples turned into a vortex. Space twisted, producing a low hum.
A crack appeared.
It was a vertical, roughly two meters tall black fissure, its edges flickering with unstable dark light.
An Yi squinted. Why did the Riftborn's spatial passage have such showy effects?
His didn't have any.
Oh well, he preferred to keep a low profile.
From deep within the fissure came a beast-like roar with a piercing, grating frequency.
A claw coated with dark green pus emerged from the crack.
The claw had three toes, each ending in a curved black hook that gleamed coldly.
Then came a second claw, followed by an ugly head—a toad-like silhouette, but with compound eyes and a wide mouth lined with spiral-shaped tiny teeth.
An Yi heaved a soft sigh.
So ugly. It was hard on the eyes.
