    Chapter 135: Visits from Rivals

"Was it this hand you used on him?" A sharp dagger slipped between Xu Laoliu’s fingers, instantly making him break out in a cold sweat.

"Qin Fei, stop! I didn’t lay a finger on him!"

"Oh? But I don't believe you." The young man gave a sinister smirk, feinting, then driving the dagger clean through Xu Laoliu's other palm, drawing a bloodcurdling scream.

"AHHHHH!!!!!" Xu Laoliu writhed violently, but Qin Fei pinned him down with a knee to his spine, keeping him immobile.

"Xu Laoliu, don’t think I’m still that kid you could push around… I’m neither a fool nor blind." Qin Fei dragged his fingers across the dried bloodstain Jian Ye had left on the floor.

"You were pretty cocky sending that video to taunt me… I know you don’t fear me, but you made one fatal mistake—you messed with Yi Siyu’s people." He yanked the dagger out and slammed it into Xu Laoliu’s thigh without flinching, as if stabbing a slab of meat.

"AHHHH!!! I—I really didn’t touch him! It was Su Junyang who drugged him! He had an allergic reaction—it’s not my fault!" Xu Laoliu wheezed through the pain, sweat pouring down his face.

Just then, an icy voice cut through from outside the room, "Who’s Su Junyang? Where is he?"

Qin Fei looked up to see a red-haired youth gripping a dented iron rod, bent from the beating he’d dished out. Clearly, the chaos outside had been just as intense.

Wasn’t he that race car driver from Jian Ye’s show? Why was he here with Qin Fei’s men?

Before Qin Fei could speak, the redhead impatiently grabbed Xu Laoliu by the collar, choking him until he turned purple.

"Last chance—where’s the scum who drugged Jian Ye?"

Qiu Yuelun wasn’t one to mess with. After learning what had happened to Jian Ye in the car, he had driven straight here with the others. Thanks to his wild drifting, they’d arrived almost as fast as Qin Fei’s group.

Qin Fei had already mobilized his remaining men on the way, and the three forces converged swiftly, leaving Xu Laoliu no time to escape.

Qiu Yuelun’s involvement was unexpected, but everything else had gone according to Qin Fei’s plan.

    "H-He’s… in the basement… I locked him in the basement… Ugh—cough!"

Once he got his answer, Qiu Yuelun dumped Xu Laoliu like garbage. He dragged the bent iron rod and glanced at Qin Fei. "Basement’s mine. You finish up here."

In other words—split the work. Qin Fei pressed his foot back onto Xu Laoliu’s spine.

Now he remembered—this redhead had feelings for Jian Ye too.

Qin Fei let out a hollow laugh. Jian Ye had a knack for driving people crazy.

He never thought he’d snap like this over someone.

Yi Siyu’s phone was off, leaving Qin Fei clueless about Jian Ye’s state.

All he could do was hope Jian Ye was okay…

Qiu Yuelun went down to the basement alone and found Su Junyang, already battered within an inch of his life.

He could guess—this was the screw-up, hence Xu Laoliu’s brutal payback.

"Hey." Qiu Yuelun casually kicked Su Junyang, who lay on the ground like a limp rag.

Hearing the sound, the man on the ground instinctively curled up and began begging for mercy: "I messed up, I messed up! I shouldn’t have drugged him! I’ll never do it again, never again! Please let me out, I beg you..."

"Why did you do it?" Qiu Yuelun’s gaze was icy. Hearing the man’s words firsthand, he couldn’t help but imagine the scenes of Jian Ye’s suffering after being kidnapped—he must have endured a lot at the hands of these people.

His abilities were limited; he couldn’t personally deal with everyone who had wronged Jian Ye, so he had to make an example of the worst offender.

"I... I wanted to get him in heat and get him fucked by men, wanted his humiliated state to be filmed, to ruin his reputation completely! It’s all his fault! He destroyed my bright future!"

Su Junyang was already barely coherent, answering whatever Qiu Yuelun asked without hesitation.

From Su Junyang’s words, Qiu Yuelun finally pieced together the full story of the grudge between him and Jian Ye.

Furious, he kicked the man on the ground again. Su Junyang shook like a junkie in withdrawal, only able to repeat, "I was wrong, don’t hit me..."

    Talk about petty jealousy!

Jian Ye never provoked anyone, yet these people wouldn’t leave him alone.

If he hadn’t run into Qin Fei’s men today, he wouldn’t have even known Jian Ye had been kidnapped, suffering such bullshit suffering. Qiu Yuelun was deeply worried about Jian Ye’s condition now.

It was said that the drug Jian Ye had ingested didn’t take its intended effect—instead, it made him cough up blood?

Qiu Yuelun tightened his grip on the iron rod in his hand and calmly uttered words that made Su Junyang’s blood run cold.

"An eye for an eye. However many times he coughed up blood, you’ll do the same."

    "No... No!! NO!!!"

The screams from the basement continued, but no one came to intervene.

Qin Fei checked the time. The police would arrive soon, and they couldn’t stay any longer. He shot A Jin a look, and A Jin, understanding, went to the basement to fetch the red-haired young man who had gone berserk.

Before leaving, Qin Fei’s men cleaned up, taking away key evidence to avoid any future implications from Xu Laoliu’s case.

"Xu Laoliu, rot in prison. I won’t let you die so easily... No matter where you go, I’ll make sure someone takes good care of you."

Each word was hissed venomously from between Qin Fei’s teeth. As he stepped out of the room, he stomped hard on Xu Laoliu’s fingers.

Qin Fei had smashed both of Xu Laoliu’s hands and broken one of his legs, stuffing a rag into his mouth to let him experience what it felt like to be helpless as a gutted fish.

After withdrawing, Qin Fei warned Qiu Yuelun that it’d be best to keep his head down for a while to avoid drawing police attention.

If any of Xu Laoliu’s remaining lackeys came looking for trouble, they could handle it.

Qiu Yuelun didn’t respond, too preoccupied to listen. All he wanted to know was which hospital Jian Ye was in.

"I don’t know either," Qin Fei answered truthfully. Even if he did, why would he tell some lovesick punk who had feelings for Jian Ye?

Though the red-haired kid had joined the "team fight," Qin Fei didn’t consider him an ally—just a wild card who happened to be scarily good at beating people down.

Qiu Yuelun wasn’t about to argue with Qin Fei. Taking the man at his word, he got into his car and peeled out without looking back.

A Jin spat out dust. "Kid’s got balls, I’ll give him that. Reminds me of my younger days."

Qin Fei cuffed him on the ear. "Next time, even if we have to wait on the roadside all night, don’t drag civilians into this."

A Jin grumbled. "Got it, Young Master..."

This time was an exception—the conflict between the Qin family and Xu Laoliu really didn’t involve anyone else, and even Jian Ye was dragged into it.

Qin Fei was deeply apologetic over this.

    ...

The next day, Yi Siyu had Jian Ye transferred to another hospital.

This hospital still wasn’t as good as those owned by the Yi family.

Jian Ye was moved into a VIP ward, which was cozily furnished and wasn’t as stifling as a typical hospital room.

There was no sign of Jian Ye waking up, but Yi Siyu had already been warned by Jian Ye’s note beforehand, so he wasn’t too worried.

However, Jian Ye’s fever still hadn’t broken, which kept the top doctors working for the Yi family on edge.

They even held a meeting to discuss Jian Ye’s condition, trying to pinpoint the cause behind it.

Some early symptoms of deadly diseases looked like this, so the doctors couldn’t afford to let their guard down.

On the second day of Jian Ye’s unconsciousness, Qin Fei came to visit, loaded down with gifts.

After learning about Jian Ye’s condition, Qin Fei offered to seek out specialists from overseas for treatment.

Yi Siyu thanked him but turned it down. He knew the real reason but couldn’t explain it to Qin Fei.

This incident wasn’t entirely Qin Fei’s fault—Yi Siyu also was partly to blame. He would first blame himself for failing to protect his own spouse.

Hearing that Xu Laoliu had been beaten by Qin Fei so badly he’s bedridden, Yi Siyu saw it as Qin Fei making amends for the incident.

Qin Fei didn’t stay long before leaving.

Yi Siyu had barely waved him off when another visitor arrived—a red-haired young man.

Naturally, Yi Siyu recognized Qiu Yuelun.

One after another, all had designs on his spouse.

Yi Siyu had heard from Qin Fei about running into this guy that day, so he roughly understood why Qiu Yuelun had come here.

Qiu Yuelun still didn’t want to accept that this guy was Jian Ye’s husband.

But with their relationship official, how could he keep deceiving himself?

The fact was—Jian Ye was married.

Qiu Yuelun was gradually learning to face reality and forcing himself to get over his feelings for Jian Ye.

Suppressing his feelings didn’t mean he was indifferent to Jian Ye’s suffering—his heart still hurt for him.

Seeing the young man lying on the hospital bed as if asleep, Qiu Yuelun just wished he’d swung a few more times.

He had only brought flowers to visit Jian Ye, barely spoke five words with Yi Siyu the entire time, and, like Qin Fei, didn’t stay long.

After these two left, Yi Siyu finally had his husband to himself again.

Despite strict confidentiality measures, the news still got out.

Some people in their circles learned about Jian Ye’s hospitalization.

Mo Huan was one of those who knew, having learned about Jian Ye's condition from Old Mr. Jian.

On the third day of Jian Ye's coma, Mo Huan also went to visit.

He carried a bouquet of carnations and was about to knock on the ward door when he ran into Yi Siyu stepping out to make a call.

The other man gestured, signaling Mo Huan to wait.

Mo Huan gave a slight nod and waited for Yi Siyu to finish his call in the distance and return.

Peering through the half-open door, he thought Jian Ye looked like a sleeping Little Prince—even in a coma, he was graceful and lovely.

Mo Huan's still heart would always ripple a little whenever he saw Jian Ye.

He had resigned himself to the fact that he and Jian Ye could never be anything more than senior and junior, yet he still fantasized—what if, in another time and space, that day could come?

When Yi Siyu returned, he noticed Mo Huan staring blankly at Jian Ye on the bed, his gaze yearning.

He spoke coldly, "Just leave the flowers at the door."

Mo Huan snapped out of it and noticed two drooping bouquets already placed by the entrance.

"This is..." Mo Huan thought they must have been brought by friends who had also come to visit Jian Ye. But why leave them outside instead of inside the ward?

He could make out many flowers inside the ward as well—was there really no more space?

Yi Siyu said mercilessly, "These were sent by others who feel the same way as you. You can leave yours here too."

    Mo Huan: "..."

    —Author's Note—
