Chapter 144: [Grand Finale] Little White Flower and Red Rose
by 橙子不涩Chapter 144 "The Finale" Little White Flower and Red Rose
The drama had only aired two episodes, yet the flood of comments was already overwhelming.
"Haven't read the original novel, but got hooked after seeing the promo stills on Weibo. Just here to show support!"
"I haven’t read the original either. Can someone tell me if Jian Ye’s character really only appears for a few episodes?"
"As a fan of the original work, though supporting roles shouldn’t have too much screen time, after seeing Luo Ying’s portrayal, I genuinely hope the director adds more scenes for him!"
"The TV adaptation will definitely make some changes from the original material. I’m curious how the director will handle the later parts."
"I'm calling it now, from now on, Jian Ye is my favorite. I’m waiting for the day he officially enters the entertainment industry."
"This is what a college boy under 20 looks like—this skin, that fresh-faced youthful glow."
"Such a tender face—one bite and I'd probably leave a mark? LOL"
"Whoa, that’s some dangerous talk up there. Biting random people will get you in trouble. CEO Yi's gonna come for you in 3...2..."
This week, Jian Ye and Yi Siyu returned to the Yi family mansion.
When they arrived, Yu Xinran happened to be watching the drama. On screen was the scene where Jian Ye was being bullied by a group of troublemakers.
Yu Xinran was completely absorbed in the scene, gritting her teeth and punching a pillow. "What's wrong with these kids? It’s all because their parents didn’t discipline them properly! Not studying properly at school and even disrupting others!"
Jian Ye found Yu Xinran adorable and leaned over to comfort her. "Mom, it’s just acting. I’m just a minor character."
Yu Xinran gently touched Jian Ye’s face. "Good thing this is just TV. If this happened in real life and they dared lay a hand on you, I’d make them pay!"
"Xiao Ye, did you get hurt filming this scene?" Yu Xinran wasn’t entirely clear about how filming worked, but seeing the bullying portrayed so realistically made her worry Jian Ye had actually suffered.
"The director took good care of me. It just looks scary for the sake of the drama."
Jian Ye didn’t dare tell Yu Xinran that Xiao Chun had actually intended to slap him for real, but he’d used a system item to deflect it.
Xiao Chun had caused trouble on set, but Jian Ye made sure he didn’t get away with it—which ended with Xiao Chun taking a nasty fall down the stairs, fracturing a bone, and leaving the production.
Later, they had to reshoot the bullying scenes. The director felt Xiao Chun’s expressions still weren’t convincing, and with him gone, the additional scenes couldn’t be filmed anyway, so they recast the role.
Jian Ye hadn’t mentioned any of this to his family.
After all, a weakling like Xiao Chun was nothing he, Jian Xiaocha, couldn’t handle.
Some time ago, he’d heard Xiao Chun had dropped out of school for some reason. Rumors claimed his family’s small business had gone bankrupt, leaving them buried in debt. To avoid creditors causing trouble at school, he’d withdrawn.
Jian Ye didn’t care about other people’s family matters, especially when it involved someone he disliked. Whether Xiao Chun stayed in school or not was none of his concern.
And so, *Farewell to Midsummer* aired continuously for several days, smashing ratings records and becoming the most talked-about drama of the moment.
Especially during the episode where Luo Ying saved someone, the topic shot straight to number one on Weibo’s trending list.
Someone dug up the old video of Jian Ye jumping off a bridge to save someone and edited it into a split-screen comparison—on one side, Luo Ying diving into the water in the drama; on the other, real-life Jian Ye leaping from the bridge. Both had the same look of determination, without a hint of hesitation.
Art imitating life—this was truly the makings of a true hero!
"Any spoilers? Does Luo Ying die after saving the person?"
"In the original novel, he dies, leaving Lin Zhirun with lifelong regret. He becomes the White Moonlight in Lin Zhirun’s heart, a scar that never fades."
"No! Is this how it ends? My Luo Ying, little brother!"
"This episode only shows Luo Ying going missing after the rescue. Could it be... he's still alive?"
"If the screenwriter follows the original novel, then I’ll tell you—there’s no chance he’s alive. In the book, Luo Ying drowned while saving someone. Maybe they didn’t show it here to preserve the beauty of the scene."
"Look at how the male lead is bawling his eyes out—isn’t that just an indirect way of telling the audience that Luo Ying is gone? Honestly, I don’t like this male lead. Let him live with regret. Luo Ying should shine brightest on his own, even in death, forever in people’s hearts."
Yi Siyu couldn’t bear to watch this scene. Every time he saw it, he was reminded of the sheer terror he'd felt when he learned Jian Ye had gone missing after jumping off the bridge.
It was the first time he had ever felt so lost and panicked. He thought he might lose the love of his life forever. During the time Jian Ye was missing, his despair had nearly consumed him.
Jian Ye noticed Yi Siyu’s unease and hugged him. "Hey, don’t worry. I wasn’t going to spoil it, but I’ll tell you—Luo Ying didn’t die. Just like me in real life, he returned to you unharmed in the end!"
Yi Siyu pulled him down onto the sofa and kissed the corner of his lips. "If I ever lost you, I’d truly go insane..."
Jian Ye took the man’s hand and pressed it against his chest, where his heart was beating strongly. "That’s why I’m here to save you. I won’t let you reach a point of no return."
After Jian Ye’s scenes ended, some viewers lost interest in the drama. Many fans were only watching it for him.
But because of the show’s rising popularity, its overall viewership continued to grow.
The drama had a total of 35 episodes, and within a month and a half, it was nearing its finale.
In the end, the male lead was forced to mature. As an adult, he became grounded and dependable, though he had other relationships that didn’t last.
While Lin Zhirun struggled in love, he thrived in his career, becoming a rising star in the business world.
In the final scene, Lin Zhirun visited a remote orphanage for charity. Just as he was about to leave after donating, laughter and beautiful music filled the air behind him.
A figure that had haunted his dreams for years was dancing gracefully on a makeshift stage, his smile unchanged from years past, as if time had never aged him—still as youthful and pure-hearted as ever.
The headmaster said, "This is our new teacher. He’s very patient and teaches the children to dance. His name is—"
"I know his name," Lin Zhirun interrupted. "I should be going now, Headmaster. I won’t disturb you any further."
Years had passed, and he didn’t know if the man’s name had changed. This person had lived on in his memories, and he wanted that name to remain eternal in his heart. Knowing he was alive and well was enough—Lin Zhirun had long since left his life.
Leaving silently was the most dignified way.
Let beautiful people and things continue to shine.
In the final shot, the camera pulled back—one side showed Lin Zhirun walking away, while the other showed the dancing figure shrinking into the light. Each went their separate ways, embracing their own lives.
"Oh my god! Luo Ying didn’t die! I knew it! Wahhh!"
"Director, you really... I’m crying so hard!"
"The original novel focused more on romance, but with this adaptation, the director took the story to new heights. I love this ending."
"Jian Ye playing the adult Luo Ying was perfect. The director must have kept him to show that Luo Ying never changed—that’s why they didn’t recast!"
"Switching actors here would’ve ruined the immersion. In Lin Zhirun’s heart, Luo Ying always looked like he did in his youth. This adaptation makes sense—someone with a strong spirit stays the same even after years. Luo Ying is the most beautiful presence in this drama."
"Every character in this show, whether lead or supporting, had their own charm. But let’s be real—Luo Ying was the standout, the crowning touch that made it all come together."
"This was left ambiguous intentionally, right? So the audience can imagine what happened—maybe Luo Ying was saved by a kind-hearted stranger, maybe he met caring people who helped him keep doing what he loved."
"What more is there to say? I’m already grabbing my pen to write fanfiction about the parts the director didn’t show."
Director Wu called Jian Ye just as he had finished his dance class and was heading back to his dorm.
On the way, the two began chatting.
"Jian, you know what I'm most grateful for? Picking you to play Luo Ying. You've been a huge part of this drama's success, hahaha!" Director Wu's hearty laughter echoed through the phone.
Jian Ye replied modestly, "You're too kind. It's all thanks to your direction and the excellent editing. A good director knows how to showcase an actor's strengths."
"You sure know how to sweet-talk, kid. Alright, enough of the mutual praise. The reason I called is, I'll just come out and ask about your future plans. I know you want to finish your studies first, and that’s fine. But you could start scouting talent agencies now. Do you realize how many people will adore you after this drama airs?"
Jian Ye understood Director Wu’s meaning. He had been cautious in previous conversations because of certain responsibilities—not just completing his studies, but also due to the system.
Now that the system was no longer controlling him and he was certain he could stay in this world safely, he no longer had reservations.
"Just say it outright—you want me to sign with your agency, right?" Director Wu had hinted at this before, and Jian Ye wasn’t oblivious to the repeated offers.
Being admired by a renowned director—how could Jian Ye not feel thrilled and happy?
Hearing Jian Ye’s response, Director Wu thought to himself, *This kid's sharp—catches on quick.*
Cutting to the chase, he said, "I have a script in hand, and the supporting male role is perfect for you. Don’t blame me for not offering the lead role—I cast based on suitability. If you’re interested, come give it a try. If everything falls into place, we can start filming this autumn."
This autumn… Spring had just begun, so there was plenty of time.
Director Wu’s sincere invitation wasn’t something Jian Ye would dismiss.
"Alright, Director Wu, send me the script. I’ll take a look."
Encouraged by Jian Ye's response, Director Wu said cheerfully, "I’ve noticed you’re close with President Huo. Signing on with us temporarily won't be a problem at all. The film company under Huo Group has plenty of connections and opportunities!"
Jian Ye chuckled at Director Wu’s tone and nodded. "Sounds good to me. I’ll follow your lead—you've got my best interests at heart."
"Of course not! I’d sooner sabotage myself than you. You’re my golden find! Hahaha!"
After returning home, Jian Ye told Yi Siyu about Director Wu’s offer, and Yi Siyu was all for it.
"I’ll have Huo Kai take you to visit their company later. Since you’re destined to make it big in this industry, learning more under Director Wu will only benefit you."
Jian Ye agreed wholeheartedly. He had been a bit player before, with limited exposure. Now, with bigger platforms, resources, and connections right there for the taking, why waste his talent?
Jian Ye loved acting deeply and was willing to work his butt off for it.
The matter was settled soon after, and news of Jian Ye signing with the agency spread.
He was no longer an unclaimed gem but a valuable asset under Huo Group.
Huo Kai was overjoyed at Jian Ye’s addition. Without needing Yi Siyu to say a word, he personally arranged the best of everything for Jian Ye.
All Jian Ye had to do was focus on school and acting—everything else was taken care of.
Fans went wild to hear Jian Ye had found a home.
"So he’s really breaking into showbiz? Go, go, go! The sky's the limit for Jian Ye!"
"With Director Wu’s agency in his corner, what’s there to worry about? Just take good care of our guy and don’t let him get bullied."
[Looks like Director Wu really likes Jian Ye—he’s brought him into the fold, hahaha.]
"So that means we'll get to see Jian Ye in more shows from now on? Hell yeah!"
"Jian Ye's face is a total heartthrob—young or old, male or female. He might not land lead roles at first, but he’s got leading man written all over him. Can’t wait!"
"Jian Ye is in high demand. Remember how Pei Runqing from the National Dance Theatre was still waiting for him to join them?"
"Old Man Pei’s probably sobbing in the stalls, hahaha!"
"It’s fine! Jian Ye’s so talented—he never said he’d give up dancing just because he’s acting now. I hope to see more sides of him."
Reading the encouragement from fans and netizens warmed Jian Ye’s heart; it hit him right in the feels.
He wouldn’t let them down. Now that his love life was flourishing, he was dead set on leveling up his career game.
...
That fall, as he entered his junior year, Jian Ye joined Director Wu’s film crew.
It was the same project Director Wu had mentioned earlier—a historical drama where Jian Ye played the third male lead, a young general.
Dressed in ancient attire, Jian Ye looked like a total badass, his hair tied high with an air of vigor.
His makeup was razor-sharp and intense, making him the textbook definition of a swoon-worthy war hero—exactly the kind to make girls swoon.
When the stills were released online, the internet lost its damn mind, spamming the feed with thirst tweets.
There was no denying Jian Ye’s versatility—he could embody any role with precision.
Thanks to his dance background, he nailed the fight choreo like a pro, maintaining perfect balance even while suspended on wires, with no rookie wobbles in sight.
Everyone on set knew that the usually stern Director Wu only thawed out for Jian Ye, always smiling in his presence.
Jian Ye, who always had that golden retriever energy and was likable, never faced jealousy from fellow actors. The type to share his last snack, he often brought small gifts for the crew.
His personality was naturally open and straightforward, and after he dropped the act for good, he became even more genuine and upright.
Though everyone knew he was the young master of the Jian family and the Third Young Master Yi’s spouse, Jian Ye carried zero diva vibes.
Even extras were eager to chat with him—proof of just how much of everyone’s favorite cinnamon roll he was.
Within just a week of joining the crew, Yi Siyu had already swung by set three times.
Despite assigning Jian Ye the best bodyguards, assistants, and agents, Yi Siyu was basically glued to him.
Luckily, filming took place near Yunjing, making the trips back and forth convenient.
The female staff on set huddled together, giggling into their lattes as they watched Jian Ye and Yi Siyu standing side by side.
For fans of the "Rainy Night" CP, what could be more thrilling than seeing their favorite couple up close? Talk about a sugar rush!
"How long will filming take for this project?" Yi Siyu asked, standing by the trailer and playing with Jian Ye’s fingers.
"If we’re just counting my scenes, about a month or so. Why? Miss me already?" Jian Ye teased.
To keep things easy, Jian Ye stayed with the crew for meals and lodging. Though he could have returned home, Yi Siyu wasn’t about to run him ragged and agreed to the on-set arrangement.
Being nearby made rehearsals easier, allowed for quick discussions with the director, and cut down on chair time.
"It's fine. If you won't move, I'll just come more often. I'm staying here tonight," Yi Siyu cheekily said.
"You staying here... isn't great." With the whole crew around, getting caught would be a little awkward. They were already the center of attention—every extra second Yi Siyu lingered would spark endless gossip.
"I'm here to see my own wife. What's the problem? You and I are married, not like those celebrities who pretend to be single and panic over dating rumors..."
By the end, Yi Siyu even sounded a little whiny. "We've already gone public."
Jian Ye froze for a second before he couldn't help laughing. Since when had his husband become this adorable?
"You're right. There's nothing for us to worry about. Who would dare gossip in front of you, Mr. Yi?" Jian Ye stopped fussing, hugged the man, and planted a kiss on him.
The moment was captured on camera, sending the Rainy Night CP fan group into a meltdown.
The sweetness in their eyes was almost overwhelming—fans were swooning.
Mr. Yi is so lucky—where else could he find such a sweet wife?
Jian Ye is so lucky too—where else could he find such a doting husband?
They're both so perfect for each other, truly meant to be together forever. Ship them forever!
Jian Ye finished shooting for this drama in just over a month. During that time, the Rainy Night couple alone racked up over a dozen hot searches, and the crew benefited from the exposure too.
This CP together is basically a walking headline.
...
That winter, after finishing his final exams, Jian Ye went on break. His manager suggested a fan livestream, and Jian Ye happily agreed.
His Weibo following had already hit 20 million—an impressive number for a student. Once he graduated and fully pursued his career, his career would skyrocket.
Since he hadn’t done much to give back to fans before, Jian Ye decided to livestream for an entire day.
The idea was random and crazy, but fans were moved to tears, feeling utterly spoiled by him.
Jian Ye posted on Weibo, announcing a casual "wander and film" session that could later be edited into a daily vlog.
At 8 a.m. that day, the moment he got up and changed, Jian Ye started the livestream.
"Hello, good morning, everyone! I haven’t brushed my teeth yet—heading to do that now."
Holding his phone, Jian Ye walked into the bathroom. Just about 10k fans were in the stream, watching him spit out toothpaste bubbles.
By showing this real, everyday side of his life, Jian Ye made fans feel closer to him—so down-to-earth.
"What’s next? I’m planning to go out and have fun today—maybe some cycling."
"You’re asking about Mr. Yi? He’s at work. He knew I was streaming today, so he gave me space, haha."
Packing a few power banks and his usual setup into his backpack, Jian Ye set off—today’s livestream was going to be a long one.
He was too famous now, so he had to wear a mask outside.
It was a weekday, and most people were already at work. Holding a selfie stick, Jian Ye ambled to a cheung fun spot.
"This place makes amazing cheung fun. I even brought Mr. Yi here before. What? Whether he liked it? He’ll eat anything I do—he’s not picky. He’s had street food too."
Jian Ye walked in with a grin. The owner lit up at the sight of him. "Xiao Jian! Back again? Your usual?"
"Yeah, same as always, I'm live streaming, you don't mind, do you?"
"Not at all. You're giving my place free publicity, why would I mind?"
Soon, a steaming plate of rice noodle rolls drenched in sauce was served.
"Pretty sure Jian Ye’s just trying to make us jealous."
"Looks amazing—I can practically smell it through my phone!"
"I wanna go eat at this place too! Too bad I don’t live in Yunjing!"
"I’ll go check it out for you guys—I live close by."
Jian Ye quickly finished eating and dipped out before fans could mob him.
"Hey guys, keep it chill. If my outing causes traffic congestion, I’ll have to cancel this impromptu live stream, okay?"
Jian Ye’s fans were understanding, knowing he was worried about safety risks from crowds chasing him.
He wasn’t alone—Yi Siyu had two bodyguards shadowing him just in case. In case of emergencies, they’d drive him away immediately.
He chose a less crowded route for cycling, riding all the way to a wild lake in Yunjing’s outskirts. The area was still undeveloped, quiet except for a few photographers and painters.
Jian Ye sat by the lake, filming the fish for his viewers as he relaxed. He tossed breadcrumbs into the water, and soon, fish were swarming around him.
The morning flew by like that. For lunch, he ate homemade bento by the lake.
"My phone’s out of battery. Gonna sign off for an hour to recharge while cycling back to the city. See you later!"
A full-day live stream didn’t mean nonstop—he needed breaks—plus, his phone was overheating.
The winter wind bit at his face, but bundled up in a scarf and windproof hat, Jian Ye pedaled back to the city as fast as possible.
The route was familiar—the same road where he’d first gotten tangled up with the Yi family.
Had Yi Siyu thought it was a setup back then?
The memories hit him hard. Time flew—nearly two years had passed.
Once his phone recharged, Jian Ye restarted the stream. The viewer count had blown up since morning, fans pouring in.
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
"So, where to next? Let’s go… to the café where Yi Siyu and I had our first date."
"Right, our families arranged the marriage. That was my first time meeting my fiancé."
"Weirdly enough, the café was named *Rainy Night*. Meant to be, right? Haha…"
Chatting with fans, he headed toward the café—only to find the place locked up.
Not just closed—the sign and windows were covered in red fabric.
"What’s going on? Did they go out of business?"
Jian Ye craned his neck, trying to peek inside, but couldn’t see a thing.
Just as Jian Ye took two steps back preparing to leave, the red cloth above suddenly dropped with a whoosh.
Startled, Jian Ye saw a freshly revealed sign come into view.
The shop’s name had changed…
From "Rainy Night" to—
"Isle & Ye."
The spotless glass door slowly opened from the inside, and a group of neatly dressed waitstaff parted down the middle, standing on either side.
A tall figure emerged leisurely, wearing that same elegant smile as when they first met here.
"Welcome back, Boss Jian."
The man’s gentle voice left Jian Ye lightheaded as he was pulled inside.
The mesmerizing voice continued, "I bought this place a long time ago, had it renovated, and now it’s officially yours."
Jian Ye was still in shock, but the flood of live comments in his live stream had already exploded.
"Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap!"
"Is this how rich people give gifts to make their partners happy?"
"Who knew a café could be a gift? Oh my god!"
"The café’s sign is lit up—is this the OTP delivering the goods? They’re force-feeding us sweetness!"
"Xiao Ye’s completely stunned! This must be a surprise—my boy was completely surprised! So romantic, I’m deceased!"
Jian Ye’s throat moved slightly, his words coming out in a stammer. "You… Weren’t you supposed to be at work… You…"
"I think… I’ve always owed you a proper confession."
As Yi Siyu spoke, someone handed him a lavishly arranged bouquet of roses. He took it and stepped in front of Jian Ye. "The first time we met, you brought me flowers. Today, I wanted to give you an even bigger bouquet… Using your livestream platform, I want to say—"
"Jian Ye, I love you."
Jian Ye’s mind short-circuited. He set down his selfie stick, rushed forward, and launched himself into the arms of the man before him. Ignoring the onlookers, he tilted his head up and kissed him.
The café’s layout remained unchanged. On the table where they had their first date, white eustoma flowers were arranged—just as pure and lovely as the bouquet he had once brought in.
Now, with fiery red roses in his arms, the pristine flowers met their passionate counterpart, bursting into radiant bloom.
The young man smiled, his eyes glistening with happy tears.
"I love you too."
"End of Main Story"
"Author's Note"
The extras will feature "Zhe Yao," interspersed with "YuYe" sweetness. Whether alternate scenarios will be written depends on the circumstances.
For my first book, those who've followed it this far are truly angels—love you all, sending each of you a kiss. Mwah!
The author is an amateur writer, and my writing and plot are pretty basic—thank you for your patience. _(:з」∠)_
Juggling a day job while writing daily chapters on the fly is stressful, which might have made the story feel choppy for those following along. Lesson learned—I'll step up my game next time. _(⊙ω⊙」∠)_
Volume 2 Extra 1: Zhe Yao
Omg, I just recently started reading webnovels and this is my first novel I actually read from the very start to the end, this was amazing author! I had so much fun reading this story and I just wanted to thank you for writing this! I even decided to make a random account just to comment this, good luck author!!!
So sweeettttttt, loved reading this novel so much!! With green tea MC’s, there’s not a second of boring chapter. I love Yeye’s personality so much, bro’s so sassy and cunning ahhhhh I love how he always knows what he’s doing. He’s one of my favorite MC’s, he somewhat reminds me so much of Ye Man (from “Will the Pretty Little Blind Guy Also Be Cannon Fodder”). Both of their character types are so fun I hope I find more novels like them T.T
