Chapter 194: Hold On, Imperial Advisor! I'm Cured 31

Ignoring Ren Jiuxiao's ranting, Qin Hanyue turned to Lin Huaiqing and said, "Who said you could break the barrier? Do you have any idea what could've happened if—"

"Cut the crap. We either break out of this formation together, or we die together. I'm not scared, so why are you?"

With one sentence, Lin Huaiqing shut him up.

Die together... that actually sounded kind of romantic.

Lin Huaiqing swung his spiritual sword, closing the distance in three quick strides, charging out with a brilliant arc of sword energy, striking straight at the barrier.

A thunderous boom echoed across the summit of Cloud Crane Mountain. A flock of startled birds scattered from the forest.

Working together, the two took turns hammering the formation's core. Their twin spiritual swords twisted and coiled like a pair of serpents, weaving together, until a massive vortex of spiritual energy began to form within the formation.

Before long, cracks started to appear along the edges of the formation, and it looked like they might actually escape.

But in an instant, thunderclouds rolled in, thick and heavy, across the night sky, and the Lightning Summoning Incantation finished at the exact same moment, sealing them both in for good.

"Perfect! The Lightning Summoning Formation is complete. Qin Hanyue, you're dead!" Ren Jiuxiao glared at Qin Hanyue, sealed inside the barrier, his heart swelling with satisfaction.

From now on, he'd be the undisputed top dog in the cultivation world.

The immortal realm's so-called genius, heaven's favored child—that title no longer belonged to Qin Hanyue. It was his now. Ren Jiuxiao's.

As lightning flashed and heavenly thunder crashed down, Lin Huaiqing closed his eyes, ready to face death head-on.

The system had already dialed down his pain sensitivity. All that awaited him was waking up on that cold machine.

But the next second, he was yanked hard into a burning hot embrace.

As the heavenly thunder struck, a blinding white light swallowed him whole. The man holding him shook violently. Lin Huaiqing didn't have it any easier—even though the bolt hit Qin Hanyue directly.

In reality, Qin Hanyue was a conductor too. The electric current ran through Qin Hanyue's body and into Lin Huaiqing, and in that instant, a massive surge of electricity slammed into his brain.

The pain was blinding for just a second before he blacked out, his mind barely clinging to consciousness.

He knew that if Qin Hanyue hadn't poured most of his spiritual power into protecting his meridians, he'd have been dead by now.

But before he could even feel relieved, the next bolt struck right on his head. Qin Hanyue covered his head with one hand while the other kept forming seals to shield them both.

At this point, Lin Huaiqing couldn't even stay conscious. With his face pressed against Qin Hanyue's warm chest, he curled up and blacked out.

Right before he blacked out, the only thing on Lin Huaiqing's mind was:

This Lightning Summoning Formation has more than one bolt? Does it just keep striking until the person is dead?

After that, he knew nothing else.

It felt like he'd been asleep for ten thousand years. When Lin Huaiqing woke up, the unfamiliar surroundings left him totally confused.

He woke up in a field of canola flowers, the air filled with a fresh, sweet scent.

Lin Huaiqing pushed himself up from the soft grass and sat there, completely dazed.

Where am I? What is this place? Why am I sleeping on the ground? And who the hell am I?

Lin Huaiqing sat there in a daze for a long time, until dusk started to fall, and still couldn't remember a thing.

He just felt like he was waiting for someone, so he didn't dare wander off. He just sat there.

Even when a bird flew over and dropped a load right on his head, he didn't even flinch.

Looking down at his charred, tattered clothes and his half-naked body, Lin Huaiqing finally felt embarrassed.

He was lying here practically naked in these rags—what the hell happened to him? Why was he in such a mess?

And there was no sign of a fire anywhere nearby.

So the whole "a fire destroyed my home" theory was out for now.

Besides, even if there was a fire, it couldn't have burned away his memories...

He clearly had amnesia. He'd forgotten so much—even his own name, where he came from, where he was headed.

He waited like that until night, when he finally heard voices in the distance.

"Lin Huaiqing? Your Majesty! Lin Huaiqing!"

Was this guy looking for him?

Not sure, but he figured he should probably respond anyway.

Lin Huaiqing suddenly stood up, only to realize his charred clothes didn't cover anything anymore. He quickly hunched over to cover himself up.

Then he waved at the person coming toward him.

"Your Majesty!" Qin Hanyue shouted, sprinting over and pulling him into a tight hug. "Finally found you. Thank God you're okay."

Facing this stranger who was way too familiar with him, Lin Huaiqing just stood there, dazed.

This guy called him... Bi Xia? Is that his name?

He had no idea what his relationship was with this guy—he just came up and hugged him, squeezing tighter and tighter.

They must be really close... maybe brothers?

It took a while before Qin Hanyue finally let go, realizing he'd been holding the disheveled Lin Huaiqing for way too long.

But the other guy didn't resist at all, didn't even say a word. Something was clearly wrong.

Normally, after barely escaping death, shouldn't he be relieved?

Qin Hanyue reached out and gently touched Lin Huaiqing's head, then bent down and asked softly, "What's wrong? Why aren't you talking? Are you scared? You hungry?"

With all those questions thrown at him at once, Lin Huaiqing didn't know which one to answer first.

But his stomach answered for him soon enough.

    "Grumble grumble grumble..."

Qin Hanyue let out a helpless but affectionate chuckle, pulled a fasting pill out of his pocket, and popped it right into Lin Huaiqing's mouth.

"Make do with this for now. When we get back to the village, I'll make you something good to eat."

Lin Huaiqing still didn't say anything. He just stared at Qin Hanyue with big, watery eyes and obediently crunched away on the pill.

He thought to himself: This guy seems nice enough, but he's really half-assing it. He's starving, and this guy gives him a little M&M-looking cookie? How's that supposed to fill him up?

A moment after swallowing it, he actually felt full.

    So cool!

After eating, Lin Huaiqing's eyes lit up, and he instinctively leaned into Qin Hanyue, timidly hooking his arm.

Anyone who gives him food couldn't be a bad guy. He must be his good buddy, out this late just to find him.

"Where are we going?" This was the first time Lin Huaiqing had spoken since losing his memory. Maybe because he trusted Qin Hanyue, he took the initiative to ask.

"We'll stay in the village for now, and once I've recovered from my injuries, we'll head back out."

This was a secret realm he had stumbled upon.

It wasn't connected to the outside world, and if he hadn't accidentally found an ordinary moonstone while he was still a fox, outsiders might never have known about this pastoral paradise cut off from the rest of the world.
